1.
John was a talented classical guitar player trained in the Spanish style since he was 12 years old.
Whom?
 2. No disrespect intended, but I don't consider Mexican Fenders to be proper Fenders...If the only thing wrong with the Jazz is the bridge, that's easily replaced. However, the Squier P special is a perfectly useable instrument and last I checked was still in the Squier catalogue, certainly plenty in the shops.
 3. I think that's a categorical no.Get a cheapo P bass and shove some active EMG's in would fit the budget, but the active circuitry would cost more than the bass.
 4. Used to be once a week ( all those years ago..) but now we're semi active it's once a month.Next gig is in October..
 5. Definately miming! I'm pretty sure they didn't use their own kit on TOTP and similar programmes,I assume there wasn't a black P bass to be scrounged that day!
 6. Bear in mind that JJ's * Hiwatt was a 50w guitar head, and in the studio there was a shedload of compression. *Coincedentally,my grandson's name.
 7.
I find it hard to imagine Gloucester being a scary place.. I live near Aston !
I've been to scarier places, but it has it's moments.
 8.
14 posts and no one slagged off Rotosounds? Oh sorry I just have......
It took a great deal of self restraint.... I am mostly using Fender strings now.
 9.
What bass is he playing here, never knew
Seen this clip loads of times, and I've never noticed that before!
 10.
I've never seen one there, must be at least one tucked away but maybe Gloucester has them all.
Both of them....... Remus Sound in the depths of Barton Street (lock the car doors when you drive through...) has a lot of second hand stuff and can be worth a browse, but not open on sunday.Plenty of hookers and drug dealers though.
 11. Try another bass through through the amp,if it doesn't have the same problems then look at the pickups.
 12. 8 basses including the 2 broken ones in the loft.I am currently in a semi active band but I kept all the basses during my 13 year hiatus.
 13. 1978,16 years old,mate of mine I went to school with said "Spike,I'm forming a band,buy a bass". So I did.Band came to nothing,I'm still playing.
 14. I've had a set of R*tosounds on my Shergold for 28 years.I haven't played it for 27 years though.
 15. I've got some of those.Took a bit of playing in,but for £3 they're perfectly useable.DR 's being handmade, maybe they've got a new person there who is crap at making strings? Never had any problem with any of mine, but I haven't bought any recently.
 16.
Aha but that would be a lie!
I don't live there any more but I still rehearse there.I challenge your claim!
 17. Both of my 78 Precisions are 11lbs ish, can't say I've ever considered them heavy. My Tokai P is much lighter (haven't weighed it) but I do find it uncomfortabler to play because it's neck heavy and I have to spend time and effort stopping the headstock hitting the floor.
 18.
I could usually get away with 2.
Show off.
 19.
That logo came in around the post-'75 redesign. Prior to that, it was logo-only.
Aha.That's my 78.
 20.
Just looking at the logo - is that right about leftys not having the words 'Precision Bass' on there? I never knew that.
21.
I think the 70s decals, when they had 'Made in USA' it was very small under 'Precision Bass'
Both of mine have this.
