1. Rattus Norvegicus era JJ Burnel, although I have my Jah Wobble moments.
 2. I thought JJ Burnel and Paul Simenon looked cool.
 3.
Yeh, ive had a few comments from other 'musicians' saying chords ARE NOT for bass. They are only meant for acoustics, electrics etc
Pah!
 4. Chords occasionally,diads frequently.
 5. Surprisingly good, considering it was my first one for 13 years.Persuaded to do it for our original Uberfan's birthday,it all went well, good crowd, and, most importantly we got fed.Might even do it again.
 6. Hmmmm. My understanding always was the the trademark kit was a kackered 50w HiWatt guitar head,a knackered 2x15 and a knackered Marshall 4x12 with one working speaker. The important bit is of course the mammoth amount of compression applied in the studio, which is why the live sound is very different.Compare Live Xcerpts to Rattus.
 7.
all these posts just go to show what a broad church punk has become, but for me, old enough to have been there when punk broke, it's the Ramones that do it for me, fast melodic songs stripped down to the bare essentials, after all they were the first true punk band, weren't they?.
Well noted for their socio political stance......
 8.
no mention of the Minutemen yet. Mike Watt is one of punks greatest bassists.
And now in the Stooges. Nuff said.
 9.
No, didn't Queen sue the bejesus out of Vanilla Ice for the Under Pressure bassline? Chic also insisted on getting paid for Rappers Delight.
In those cases the bassline was considered the melody, and if it's the original copyrighted recording that's sampled then that's another HUGE can of copyright worms. And totally off topic.
 10. Generally I write the riffs and the singer/guitarist does the lyrics. Melodies? What's that?
 11. Herco Flex 50's for me,I wasn't aware there was a problem getting them as they last for ever and I haven't needed to buy any for years.
 12.
I dont think he played on anything Steve jones did it.
Sid played on Bodies and 17.
 13.
and presumably a good chiropractor ?
They also come in a handy 1U rack format..
 14. If you count 1978 as vintage, then yes.My 78 P basses are the main tools of my trade.
 15.
You are saved
Although,in truth,it's an SVT2P preamp...
 16.
Currently listening to The Stranglers JJs bass-playing is just awesome.
Currently listening to JJ Burnel's solo album Euroman Cometh.Prior to that,Killing Joke's Wardance (7" version) and Chrome's Chronicles of the Sacrifices part 1 as I am to be covering both soon,so I am told.
 17. £350 seems right to me,if it's in good condition.'80's Tokais are Japanese made and very high quality, although I have no idea what the body wood is.Compared to an equivalent Fender they're a lot lighter.
 18. Never say never. I just started again after a 13 year lay off. (Although I got into Electronic music but that's another story....)
 19.
Sisters of Mercy- Alice performed especially badly. aged 16 or so on a Westone Dynasty (looked well cool at the time, and i'll bet sarah 5-s would pay top dollar for it now, ha ha ! ) o.k. i fessed up. i'll be regretting this later..
This was the first cover version I ever gigged!
 20. It was 1981,I was 18,it was an original composition. The guitarist was a chap named Ian Dench, who went on to form a band called EMF,who some of you may remember....
 21. Why did he stop playing 20 years ago? I personally expect the drummer to dictate pace, although I have spent many years working with drum machines.
 22.
Do tell.......
My lips are sealed, but I'm not exactly in a unique position regarding her horizontal pleasures. On a similar note,I also used to know Richard Hammonds wife Mindy quite well a few decades ago.
 23.
Yup, more love for synth bass here too. I used to have an old Roland SH-09 monosynth, made some wonderful phat pharty sounds... wish to christ I'd never got rid
Still got mine.Use it for a doorstop.
