1. Just bought some TI flats from Andy, great seller, quick delivery! Dave
2. Yeah, I'd agree, as long as I'm dealing with Mark I'll go back, he just needs to look at his choice of staff, who have the potential to damage an otherwise pretty sterling reputation.
3. I have always loved Bass Direct and found Mark an excellent person to deal with, however my last couple of visits/transactions I have dealt with the staff he now employs. I have to say they were absolutely un professional. I ordered some Aquila strings from them which I needed ASAP for a tour, 10 days (far too late) later I emailed to enquire what had happened to my order, I was told they had mixed me up with another Dave Evans and sent the strings somewhere in Cornwall! (It's worth noting I had to get in touch to find this out, they didn't feel the need to tell me). The strings finally arrived (obviously sent directly from this person in Cornwall) 2nd class with a receipt/invoice made out to someone else!...I emailed requesting the correct copy an made a point of saying that this was the most drawn out purchase I have ever made and below the standards I have come to expect, his staff member responded by sending me the invoice in some ridiculous text edit format (which I can't use for my records) as long with a message that simply said "Sorry about that " Who puts a bloody smiley face at the end of a business email?!?! Previous to this I made the 1hr 40 trip up there to buy a used U bass I had reserved via email. It was advertised on the site as fretless, I got there and it was fretted. Mark was not there and again his staff were completely unhelpful. Certainly won't be rushing back anytime soon.
4. Yeah, thwaites are great, Bill has helped me out with some touring bits in the past, both acoustic and EUB good people!
5. Thanks guys....I'm in no real rush so will give him some time... Does anyone know if the US reissue plate would fit on the Jap reissue anyway?
6. HI all, hope I have this in a suitable section! So....I want to fit a decent 62 reissue style scratchplate onto my Jap 62 reissue P (The Jap tortoiseshell is far too red).. What Im trying to find out is whether a US 62 reissue scratchplate would fit on to my non export Jap '62.... I have dropped bass doc a message (he made me a Jazz plate a couple years ago) but haven't heard back from him - not sure how active he is on here at the moment.. I know they are all 13 hole as standard pretty much, mostly I want a nice old school tortoiseshell and also the holes to put the thumbrest/tugbar under the strings... Does anyone have any experience doing this or know either way? Thanks a lot! Dave
7. Apologies this sold a while ago!...I forgot to edit!
8. I have 2 lift off lid flight cases for sale which I bought from Flightcase Warehouse sometime ago. Both of them are exactly the same spec. The measurements [s](internal)[/s] (EXTERNAL) are (W/D/H): 795 x 590 x 745mm. As you can see they are quite large, I toured with them and pretty much got all my amp gear in there (1 had a 1x12 cab and a case of cables/bits, the other had a 1x12 cab, the amp head in a separate mini hardcase and a gramma pad. I will also include a selection of foam off cuts with the cases so you can internally customise them a little (which again is what I did). Both cases are very well worn, but they have proven to be solid cases. Identical in condition except 1 has a line of blue spray paint to differentiate. Looking for £40 per case or £70 for them both. Due to the size of them I would rather they were picked up from Berkhamsted, Herts. Dave
9. Ha! Spoken like a true BC'er! 😛
10. For sale I have a 3/4 upright bass gig bag, well padded, all the usual pockets for bows, strings, music etc. No longer needed as I have 2! Looking for £20 plus postage or collection from Berkhamsted, Herts.
11. Stagg bass stand for 2 basses for sale. Good condition, only used a few times at home. £12 plus postage or collection from Berkhamsted, Herts
12. As the title says really! I have an SKB 3U rack case for sale as I use an Aguilar TH500 now so don't need it. I originally bought the 3U with the idea of putting a rack tuner in with the amp. Ended up with a pedal tuner! If you don't know, the X racks are much shallower than standard rack cases, they are ideal for micro heads such as Markbass, GB, EA etc. They are super light and really well built. details from Bass Direct (where this came from) http://www.bassdirec.../SKB_Cases.html As you would imagine there are a few scuffs on this, but to be honest it came with a few scuffs on it as well! These aren't exactly made to sit there and look pretty! It comes with all the accessories that are supplied new (screws and nuts). If you happen to have a Genz Benz head I can also supply the rack ears for free with this as I have no use for them! These are £106 new from Bass Direct, I am looking for £50 plus postage or collection from Berkhamsted, Herts. Thanks!
13. For sale is this boxed Audere JZ3D preamp (Vol, Bal, Bass/Treble, Passive Tone). It is in very good condition, was used in my Jazz deluxe for a short time about 18 months ago until I realised that super jazz pre's aren't for me! Has been in the box ever since. I will say that it definitely beefed up the sound, super modern tone and the Z mode switch offers even more flexibility. tech specs here: https://www.audereau...om/Pro_JZxD.htm It is ready to go, other than needing to solder the battery cap and jack back on (as it's the only way to remove the pre from the bass) This would be a 5 min job for anyone with basic soldering skills (I managed it)! See pics for what I mean... Looking for £65 plus postage, or collection from Berkhamsted, Herts. Bargain!
14. Lakland BG5 if you can find one over here, great basses! (Skyline as well)
15. Any chance of a pic showing the neck pocket? is it a good fit? I only ask as I know it can be really hit and miss on late 70's Fenders! Thanks
16. +1 to that! I have a 5 string glaub (the LOG version with nordy pups) best 5 string I've owned (and I've been through a lot)! It's just simple with a great tone and feel to the neck. Also excellent B string...
17. Couple of Pino transcriptions of the John Mayer Trip stuff if anyone is interested!? http://daveevansmusic.co.uk/Media.html
18. The lakland BG5 is great, I have the limited LOG bass and it is the best 5 I have owned ( it's a skyline)
