1. So I have 2 sets of labella strings for sale Labella super steps (5 string) standard gauge.... Bought yesterday for my new lakland but they don't fit the thru body! Practically unused - a couple strings were snipped but not much at all and as it was for thru body stringing they will all be fine for standard stringing £30 posted LaBella Oldies now sold!
2. Thanks for all the advice, thoroughly appreciated, can def see the sense in getting the STM and then a tone hammer pedal!...very much looking forward to trying them out...I'm not a big fan of the super zingy sound so I don't think the TH eq would be an issue for me. Anyone know if u can rack the TH?
3. Nought wrong with the LM.....it's actually on (very) long term loan from a buddy of mine who never used it...no need to give it back anytime soon, but would like to always have one that I own as well!
4. Hey all, so I just sold my shuttle 6 as I was after something a little warmer.... I am now torn between the TH500 or streamliner 600... I have yet to play either in the flesh, hoping to try out this week sometime.. Would really appreciate some knowledge from those who have used either or (even better) both!..,. I am concerned that the GB might be too tubey - I've used class D for years now, never owned tube - but am tempted by the current price slash due to their closing down Aguilar appears to be a warmer sounding class D..... For the record I'm not interested in overdrive from either, though I know they can both provide this Pros and cons for both would be great please!!!
5. Still available, after straight sale now as I have sourced a 5 string... Open to offers before I eBay it
6.
Trade you for a Bugaboo pram?
Haha! More baby stuff is the last thing I need right now!
7. Thanks folks!.... The bass could be slapped but yes a better bridge would help!.... Not after an Ibanez I'm afraid!
8. Worth pointing out that the nordys are over twice the price of the wizards!...although wizards are no longer made which will automatically make them more desirable!
9. Sorry, not been on as I've been in hospital, my partner gave birth to our first baby yesterday! Little boy! Will get back to your PM
10.
Very interesting. Thanks for posting. Can I buy your 64s You're right about the Nord bridge pickup sounding thinner. I preferred the Wizards on all examples but the Nord neck did sound good. Nice chops!
Not selling yet I'm afraid, they might go into another bass!.. Am looking forward to getting it out to a gig so I can test them in context!
11. So I have had a set of Wizard 64's in my Jazz bass since I built it and had a set of Nordstrand NJ4SV's that I bough a year or so ago not being used. Decided I'd switch them over as I recently haven't been sure on the sound of the bass at gigs (just need a change I think)! I recorded a sound sample of bridge, both and neck pickups before I switched and then did the same when I'd installed the Nordys. I must admit the differences are more noticeable than I thought! I know there are differing opinions about the split coil jazz pups so would be great to know your opinions on each. For the record all sample were recorded on my custom made '60 style stack knob Jazz, both tone controls open for all, Ernie Ball regular slinky nickel wounds and into a Focusrite saffire Pro interface, absolutely no plugins or effects (sorry they're all a bit rough)! There is a bit of noise but I must admit this is not from the pups, I recorded it in a garage, next to a railway line so sometimes get bad noise from the electrics!! (You can here a bit of actual pup hum on the solo'd 64's). I have commented on the soundcloud as to which sample is which. My conclusion is that I prefer the Nordstrands neck solo's and both pickups. To my ears, the bridge pickup is a little thinner than the Wizards.... Get involved! I know some guys are good at giving some very colorful descriptions of sound (greasy, glossy, chocolaty etc)!! so look forward to seeing those!
