1. Everything I looked at in there gave me GAS, even the practice amps. Next time in I'll try a couple of things out. I bought my bass there a couple of years ago and downstairs was the boutique room so it was great to see so much bass.
2. Hi. Had some time to kill in Glasgow yesterday so popped into GuitarGuitar. Was very pleasantly surprised to go down to their basement room to find it completely given over to bass. They should call it The Bassment. Very well kitted out with many many top bass specific brands to suit all tastes and wallets. I had a good chat with one of the very helpful staff who said I could try out anything I wanted. Have no spare cash at the moment though and don't like to time waste. I took a cool panoramic photo of the room but don't know how to add it to a message from my phone. Sorted that now!! Was impressed with the range of amps from mesa, Aguilar, TC Electronic, etc... and basses from Fender, Sandberg, lakland, Roscoe, Musicman, etc, etc... Wish I had spare money!!!
3. Just having first listen of the new Mr Big album, Defying Gravity. Extremely happily positive so far. Great riffs and the bass is sounding beefy. His new pedal must be working!!
4. How about this... https://www.andertons.co.uk/p/B-030670250-0002/second-hand/b-stock-squier-vintage-modjazz-70s-maple
5. EHX Bass Soul Food. Mine is always on and it has a blend knob. Keeps low end beautifully and is much less expensive than some of the others mentioned here.
6. Love the tunes from Stereo Embers. Stumbled across them after seeing Mike McCready wearing one of their t-shirts. They are on his label (as is another artist I really like, Star Anna). Anyway, their Bass player, Ben Brunn has a great tone and some totally grooving bass lines. Have a wee listen here... 7. I remember the group was putting together plans/drawings/instruction guide for Mk1...did that ever happen?

10.
The slot port version had a resonance when I dropped it, I couldn't leave it alone though and when I went back found it was down to a reflection off the port itself. I damped it down with some judicious stuffing and it could have been designed out with a taller narrower cab. Having built both I thought the tube port tube design was easier to make for someone with limited tools and woodworking experience. Since then working on the Mk2 we've found that a single port gives a lot less port noise than a group of four with the same cross sectional area. I'm not keen on four corner ports for that reason, but it does help stiffen the cab. Balloon wrestling again. My conclusion? I wouldn't worry too much about the ports. If you are a confident woodworker forming them out of wooden slots is fine. The four ports in the Mk1 have never made any audible noises at a gig, even when pushed hard, most/many manufacturers of bass cabs make slot ported designs and there are successful designs out there with corner ports.
Is it the volume of the port that matters? For example, if corner triangular prisms were used, should the volume of the prism be the same as the volume of the cylinder that makes a circular tube port?
11. I'm a teacher with access to a 3 D printer. Send me some sketches with dimensions and I'll see what it produces.
12.
Yes, one big port, Luke. The idea is to minimise friction and turbulence within the port; the less friction, the less chuffing and compression. It's not so critical with large cabs, or general purpose PA cabs for voice, but with small, high powered bass cabs like this one, optimising the porting makes a *huge* difference to the output produced by the port - and reduces distortion audibly. A single round port is simply the best solution for minimising friction. They're called flared ports, MoonBass. I have a selection of them here, including some very nice Precision Ports 4" ones. Unfortunately, availability is a bit of a problem in the UK, but they do work really well. I considered using the Precisions, but their external diameter is about 18cm and there wasn't enough room on the baffle. Also, a single flared 4" port wasn't going to be long enough to tune the cab to the target frequency. The performance of the 5" we are using is equivalent to a flared 4" port. The ideal would be a 5" flared port on the back of the cab, but nobody makes one. If somebody could use a 3D printer to make some flared port ends cheaply, that would make me very happy. It seems like an ideal job for a 3D printer.
13. Here he is again with Cody Wright from his band at the same show...just discovered this band....some great stuff. https://youtu.be/mo6ktz4Zz6U
14. I use mine with no load a fair bit, for home practice or for recording from di.
15. Beggars and Theives. Their intro to the first song on their self titled album is my favourite intro to an album. Their album Look What You Create is brilliant...then they disappeared...I think.

17.
I've read read that the Streamliner has a very bass heavy tone. That wouldn't be for me in a million years. I don't know the VT500 at all, so can't comment there.
Yeah, but you can always just turn down the bass knob!
18. Very good luck selling this. Same as mine, the neck is brilliant. Where did you get the scratch plate from and roughly how much? Have been thinking of one for mine. Good luck again. Bargain for someone considering current new prices.
19. There are also a few American Special P basses and Jazzes kicking about in shops. I love mine. The neck is fantastic and fit/finish are quality. Nate Mendel P Basd also worth a shout if you don't mind a subtle relic. Necks are great and grisly growly sound. Then there's Lakeland and G&L, etc...
20. Billy Sheehan is amazing, saw him in Mr Big on there last tour and he was loving every minute. On a slightly different note, saw Paul Gilbert at a masterclass in Edinburgh on Thursday. Holy crap he can play. Lots of little hints and tips for six string stuff and he could turn his hand to almost any style. The Session bass player was excellent too.
21. Can you take the train and take your own?
22. Stereo Embers. They are a Seattle band I have been giving some listening to recently. They are on Mike Mcreadie's label. https://youtu.be/0GK0LM3QJaU Ta
23. That's why I invited him...also thought about Alex Lefeson but thought about it for a second and decided not to, as there would be no wine left for me.
Geddy Lee would also be appointed head wine waiter
24. I see what you did there!
Jarrit Reddick and David Gates for the first course (Bowling for Soup, Bread), Lou Rhodes and Marvin Lee Aday for the mains (Lamb, Meatloaf), Will I.Am (Black Eyed Peas),Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumkins),Paddy MCAloon (Prefab Sprout), Martha Johnson (Martha and the Muffins), Eric Clapton (Cream) or Vanilla Ice, finishing off with Errol Brown (Hot Chocolate)
