  1. That’s a pretty cool head. I’d love it if I had the reddies ready.
  2. I’ll be going 64 bit as it’s better fo CAD work. Thanks for your input everyone. I’ll let you know how I get on. I’ll also need to get some monitor speakers so most likely KRK I guess though I see there are lots of other brands at the same price point.
  3. Haven’t ruled AMD out, didn’t think to mention them!! What’s i just don’t know anything about them. Whats a VST?
  4. Hi everyone. Calling all computer experts! I am about to spend about £500 - £600 on a computer. This budget is for the tower and monitor if I go that way or for a complete All-in-one. My main priorities for the computer will be: vector graphics and DTP CAD (though not to large projects) Recording guitar based music using a usb audio interface Photo editing then the usual stuff like internet, excel, etc... So, based on this I have a few questions as there have been a lot of changes since I last bought a PC. Is it worth the extra for i7 over i5 or should I look for a different processor? (I’ll try and go quad core) is it worth looking for 16gb ram or will 8 suffice? The graphics software I run recommends minimum 8gb Is it important to get SSD instead of a hard drive? Are refurbished machines from Amazon reliable? What’s a decent monitor for that sort of budget? What sort of graphics card should I go for? I’ve heard that latency can be an issue when recording (most likely using Reaper), what has the biggest influence on this? Finally, if anyone can point me in the direction of someone who builds computers that would work put good value please share a link here...... thanks everyone. Paws.
  5. I would have it but I live hundreds of miles away!
  6. I managed to watch 10 seconds. Sounds like me having a back spasm!!
  7. Played around with one of these a few years back....sounded absolutely beautiful, warm, a bit dirty and powerful.
  8. Thanks for your helpful knowledge dad. I’m interested but pending the sale of something I have ongoing at the moment. Good luck with the sale!
  9. Hiya. Does this put out 100 watts at 8 ohm as well as 4 ohm?
  10. It is indeed. We’ve played email tennis for a couple of days to figure out what the cab is. Why don’t Marshall make bass gear??
  11. It does seem a tad ridiculous doesn’t it! And 15 Ohms?! Nice handy number....well it must’ve made sense way back when. I think this cab is either going to suit a guitarist or someone with one of those Ampeg PF50 heads. I’m neither! Wonder who I should speak to regarding value of this? Cheers,
  12. This from Marshall today... Thank you for the information, as the last digits is not clear, this could be a N or a M meaning 1967 or 1968 the speaker itself was first used in October 1966 it is a 30 watt 15 ohm G12H based on the 1221 the 25 watt lead speaker but was manufactured for bass. If the cabinet is wired as a standard 4x12 it would be 15 ohms at a maximum wattage of 120, these cabinets were designed to be used with the 50 watt bass amplifier 1986 or two of the cabinets with the 100 watt version. We would not recommend using one cabinet with a 100 watt amplifier. If is very difficult to say which fret cloth was used as there were two to three different designs we don`t have records for individual cabinets the covering would have probably been black levant . 13. Managed to get a few minutes this evening so took a driver out for some photos. Dont know if this means anything to anyone?!
  14. Pea Turgh, I know...I did suggest that when I saw it. However he has shelf space for the rest.
  15. The guy I got this from still had a head of the same era and a top cab plus recording equipment. He wanted rid of this as it was getting in the way in his wee carpet warehouse!
  16. I’ve sent an email and photos off to Marshall to see if they can date it and tell me more about it. They got back almost instantly when I contacted through messenger. I’ll wait and see what info they have but all of the above sounds intriguing. They said they’d sort me out some grill cloth and a logo to help renovate it. The first person I spoke to at Marshall seems to think it is one of their bottom cabs As soon as they get back I’ll let you know. Might also get time to take a speaker off for further ID over the next couple of days
  17. I’ve had a look at the soldering. It’s a bit dodgy. I’ll fix it so all works ok. Potentially could do it up again and out guitarist could use. Where can I buy grill cloth and a Marshall logo from? Either that or I sell it and buy bass gear!!
  18. Yes, it appears there is a reinforced rectangular area around the centre of the front panel. The old owner said the cloth grill had gone long time ago.
  19. Hi folks. Was donated this cab today but I don’t really know what it is. The elderly chap that gave it to me (I gave him a nice bottle of wine in exchange) told me he bought it new way back when (possibly 1969). Its a 4 x 12, made in England (so guessing Marshall) and has had some DIY connectors put on the back panel at some point. Irs been signed some person at some point probably in the factory. Any help identifying it and how many ohmagges it uses and how many wattages it can handle would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Paws.
  20. £23k. Crazy! It’s a thing of beauty. Hopefully it’ll get played and it’s not just an investment for some rich dude.
  21. The orange glow is near the bottom and appears to be in the middle, so should be ok!
  22. Hi people. The valve in V1 of my Streamliner is glowing orange all the time from when I switch the amp on. Is this normal or should it be replaced? How do you know, is there a test that tells you when a 12ax7 valve has had it? Cheers!
