2. Setup instructions in this Cort manual. They recommend setting the truss rod first. http://www.cortguitars.com/downloads/pdfs/bass-guitar-manual.pdf
3. For the odd track or two, send as e-mail attachments. One track in mp3 is usually inside the size limit of most mail servers. For more tracks, zip them (for convenience not size) and send via a file forwarding service e.g. wetransfer.com Or paste the youtube links into something like keepvid.com which allows you to download either the whole video or just mp3 audio (which you can then pitch shift into another key if necessary).
4. UK and continental Europe are 230V these days.
5. I was interested enough to type net2.nl It works?
6. Re underpowering: If you ever stopped playing, then your cab would be underpowered if such a thing existed.
7.
bob plant and tom jones seem to have done ok but they would appear to be the exception
It was actually Robert Plant who worried me most Still a capable singer but he doesn't go anywhere near the notes he used to hit.
8.
Time for Eb tuning... :-)
It's worse than that - I might need a fiver
9. Just can't hit the notes I used to although I haven't sung for a few years. Is it likely to improve with practice or should I just resign myself to the ravages of time? I realise that better singers than me have suffered the same fate
10. Based on a survey of ... errm ... me, I'm crazy and my bass stays in tune.
11. My worst bass wasn't a bass but it led me to bass. A classical guitar that had been restrung with steel strings. The resulting bow in the neck gave it an action that made it impossible to hold down more than one string at a time and so I played bass lines
12. All good. At least it wasn't another inchage question
13.
some of the newer class D amp need a higher input sensitivity
Maybe pedantic, but some power amps need a high input level because they have low input sensitivity. Not trying to be snarky but this can lead to confusion.
14.
Their website says Maximum Output Level (Class A): +30dBu DC coupled, balanced 600 ohms (mic and line out) but I am blissfully unaware of what that means
That means it will drive any power amp with absolute ease
15.
Do it anyway, not for tone purposes, but to limit driver excursion below the useful frequency range and cut down on thump noise.
I normally run with the filter switched on anyway. For limiting LF driver excursion, wouldn't 75Hz be even better? It's 12dB/octave by the way.
16. Behringer's EPQ900 would do the job. Just ignore their claimed power figures. It will easily replace a 300 watt amp though, weighs 10.8 lbs, 1U and fits in a shallow case. The downsides - right to left airflow could be a problem in a rack case if you run it really hard, though mine got barely warm. Noisy fans - not great for home practice or recording.
17. My current preamp has a 75Hz high pass filter. Initiallly I got all fired up about modifying it for 40Hz, modelled the required component changes in Spice, and then after hearing the minimal audible difference the standard filter makes to a bass, decided I can't be bothered.
18. You shouldn't have any difficulty listening to iPlayer outside the UK - except in rare cases mentioned above by BassBus. TV is a different matter but I listen to R4 for hours every day from central Europe without problems. Congrats on the birth by the way!
19. Limited benefit on its own. You really need to combine it with these at £731: http://www.whathifi.com/review/vertere-pulse-b
20.
oh balls.
Balls, bollocks! You've seen the doc and the wheels are in motion. Well done.
21.
Is there no manufacturers out there doing a mono amp with reasonable output rather than having to have a stereo amp in bridge mode?
Very few and they're fairly expensive. The big market for separate power amps is for PA use. In any case, stereo power amps offer a lot of flexibility for bass in terms of number of cabs and cab impedance.
22. Behringer EPQ900, 10.8lbs/4.9kg 175W/channel @ 8 ohms 275W/channel @ 4 ohms 580W mono bridged @ 8 ohms
23. I guess it's not really pronounced "hoe tone"
24. Sharp [s]dresser[/s] er, singer. I hate autotune but ...
