For sale is my lovely 2x12 TKS s212. Easily one of the best cabs I’ve ever owned and I’ve owned many. I’m reluctantly selling due to nasty accident at work which has left my foot badly broken which will need further surgery. I’m going to be hopping around for a long time yet so my poor wife is now my roadie. So I have treated her to a lightweight, smaller Barefaced cab which is easier for her to carry up and down the stairs. I’m such a thoughtful chap! It’s not exactly a heavyweight weighing in at 21kg and I found it easy to carry around before my misfortune. Sound is ‘BIG’ and clear. I never found the need for a tweeter which was a concern at first. The few gigs I’ve done with it were typical pub gigs where it was a bit overkill and one outside gig where I managed to crank things up a bit and It performed excellently. Specs are: Impedance: 4 Ω Power handling (high average power test signal): 500 W RMS Recommended amplifier power: 100-600W RMS @ 4 Ω Sensitivity[average]: 102 dB SPL @ 1 W/1 m Sensitivity[100Hz]: 100 dB SPL @ 1 W/1 m Sensitivity[max]: 105 dB SPL @ 2,3 kHz, 1 W/1 m Frequency response (-10db): 42 Hz - 4,8 kHz Displacement: 516 cm³ Measurements (WxHxD): 52x76x40 cm Weight: 21 kg Cab and cover both in excellent condition. I never thought I’d be selling this but the new cab has to be paid for. Not after any trades thanks and, for now, collection only from Merseyside. I’m asking for a very reasonable £420 (firm) which is a bit less than what I paid as its collection only.

The bass sale that turned a (massive) corner… - *SOLD*

I’m a little suspicious. If I was the buyer of something DOA I’d return it for a refund. Secondly, I’m surprised that the panel being referred to (if it’s what I’m thinking of) would be damaged in transit. Was the amp loose in the box?

$$ Streamer is a cracker too! Always fancied one of them.

Congratulations, good choice! I’ve owned many Stingrays over the years but, at my loss, never a Sterling. I remember the first time trying one thinking that this is a much nicer bass than my Ray. I remember that there was a much broader tone range with the three way switch though? I’d have thought that getting some black knobs should be easy enough. Anyhow, great bass! Enjoy.

I’ll be getting my first Barefaced cab this weekend, a Super Compact. I needed a smaller and lighter cab as my poor suffering wife is now my roadie due to my foot being badly broken. I play in a typical pub band so no larger venues, maybe the odd outdoor gig in the summer. I will be pairing it up with a TKS 1x12 for the time being which I know will be ample for the gigs we do. I’m sceptical if any 1x12 cab would be enough but it would be nice to be proven wrong. I’m really looking forward to getting it and testing it out on its own at a rehearsal. We practice in a function room with a good sized stage, a bigger room than anywhere we’ve played so far so it should be a good trial.

Up for sale is my Micromark 801 60w combo. I think it’s universally known just how good these are so I won’t bang on about it. It’s served me very well for home practice but it’s now sitting idle. Excellent condition and works perfectly. £185 inc. UK postage. Postage will be knocked off if collected. Sorry but I Can’t deliver or meet up anywhere as I’m unable to drive due to injury. 🙁

Very nice indeed. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a MiJ one before.

1978 Gibson Ripper - Last drop – On Hold - *SOLD*
bigthumb replied to Burns-bass's topic in Basses For Sale
What a wonderful time to have no money! 😪 When I took my Ripper in to be set up the tech said that the frets were low but still ok. The price for a refret was about £200. Not sure whether that’s good, bad or average, didn’t seem excessive to me. So investing in getting a refret will get you a stunning Ripper still at a great price. -

Very overpriced in my opinion for what it is. It makes the Epiphone 64 Thunderbird look excellent value for money being around £100 less.

Just bought a Gator Mixer bag off James. A super guy to deal with! Fast dispatch and great communications. Thanks! 👍

You have great taste there. Lovely basses!

Gibson Rippers caught my attention in my teens when I first saw one in an old Bell's music catalogue. Out of all the basses the Ripper really stood out and for many years I always wanted one. The first one I saw (and played) in the flesh was @neepheid 's at a bass bash. The second being the one I was lucky enough to bag here a couple of months ago. I love it. I had it set up professionally with new strings and it plays superbly. It's light weight too, surprising considering its size! So I guess this is a dream bass for me. p.s It fits nicely in a Hiscox Teardrop case too!

Bit late leaving feedback, ooops. Traded EBS amps recently with Dave. Great transaction throughout. 👍👍

Thanks. Never thought of using a laptop bag. Being a largeish class D head, it makes sense. I only got that amp a couple of weeks ago and only used it once at band practice. It's certainly powerful, that was the first thing I noticed. It wasn't the greatest test as I was trying out my old 60's Thunderbird copy with an outboard preamp. It sounded great but it was more an experiment with the bass than a proper amp test. But like I said, it sounded pretty darn good through a 2x12 cab.

Can anybody recommend a gig bag or soft case for my Reidmar? Dimensions (WxDxH) 36.3 x 26.2 x 7.6 cm (14.3 x 10.3 x 3.0") Something with good sized pockets would be nice. Thanks.
