Up for grabs is my Electra VS4. Great bass and I'll be sorry to see it go but needs must. Superb quality and in great shape. Theres a tiny dink on the back of the body that I've tried to photo. Other than that its spot on. It weighs only 8Lbs 3oz (why I bought it) and very gig friendly. It really is an amazing bass for the money. I can ship of around £25 and I'm sure I have a gig bag up in the loft that I'll put it in. Collection welcome and I can meet up if not too far.

Reluctantly going to have to part with some gear. Not being able to return to full time work anytime soon forces the sale 😪 So up for grabs is my 2022 non reverse Thunderbird in Inverness green. Excellent condition with only the chip to the bottom of the bass which I did. It is a Gibson demo bass as stamped on the back of the headstock. I compared it to my other non reverse I had and there's no difference at all. The only possible imperfection is a small indent on the back of the headstock where its stamped made in USA. Other than that its spot on. I kept this one as it was the lightest weighing in at 8Lbs 7oz making it very gig friendly and to my ears better sounding to my other Birds. The bass comes with its Gibson fitted hard case. I should be able to ship the bass to UK for about £35 but due to the length of the case finding a suitable box is a bit tricky. Collection and trial very welcome or a can meet up if not too far. I'm not really after any trades thanks as I'm seriously going to need the cash sadly.

I found a used 4 string set of double ball end strings in an old gig bag. No idea of make and all I can tell you is they're all 34" long and of lightish gauge. Absolutely no use to me!

G&L is a great choice, especially funky silver sparkle ones eh? @80Hz 😜 MarkBass do some great affordable amps, cabs and combos which offer plenty of power and sound quality. I hear Fender Rumble are great too although I've never tried one. Loads of good gear out there. Keep your eye on the classifieds here.

I thought about this on the way back home and if I had to pick 3 basses that flicked my switch from this afternoon I think I'd narrow it down to the Yamaha BB1200, G&L silver sparkle Jazz Bass and the 73 Precision.

Great to meet you too and put a face to the name and my love for old Fenders has been thoroughly reignited! Glad you liked the Ripper, not everyones cup of tea but I too was surprised with them the first time I played one.

Big thanks from me too! It was a great day and I wish I could have stayed just a bit longer. So many cracking basses....

@rwillett I'm not sure what she'll do but we might bring one of the mutts along as I'm sure she'd like to have a walk around the lovely countryside. I'm sure she'd like a slice of pizza but I did promise her a Greggs veggi sausage roll from the service station en route! It's a shame that I have this operation and I'll probably won't be able to drive. Otherwise I'd bring the campervan up and make a weekend of it. Sadly, it's something my wife won't drive due to its size.

I'll be having my foot operation on the Wednesday before the bash. I'm having the metal plates/wires or whatever removed from when I had my accident. I'm not sure how immobile I'll be so my poor downtrodden Mrs said she'll drive me up there if needed. I'm hoping (and most probably hopping) it won't be too bad and I'll be able to stand on my own two feet but I might need to be seated and have basses handed to me on request to drool over. I'll still be bring my gear along. Also. If anybody wants a good (Bass Direct) shipping box please let me know as I have a couple here that are taking up space. Also, also. We are both veggies. Can't wait!!!

Musicman Stingray Fretless... 1985??
bigthumb replied to LiverpoolBassPlayer's topic in Bass Guitars
A great period for stingrays and wish I wish I wish I kept my '86 Ray but there we are. Sounds great on them tracks 👍 -
Until now, I've not used an active bass for well over a year so I found the preamp to be 'hot'. Loads of bass and loads of fizz to my ears. The last gig to this I did was with a Gibson Ripper and Gibson Thunderbird so the Sandbergs a bit different. I set the bass and treble knobs to the centre indent and left it there. It was great, Pbass with a bit more on top would be my simple description. The bass is active only, no push pull for active/passive.

VERY happy with this Sandberg Electra. I have owned German made ones in the distant past and I've fancied another for a while now. But to scratch the itch for the time being I recently got this Electra and I really can't fault it. I gigged it last Saturday with the intention to try it out on a couple of songs in the first set but used it throughout the whole gig.

Ben bought my Orville Thunderbird. Really great communications and a thoroughly top guy to to deal with. Many thanks! 👍

Sandberg might be worth looking at.

I've never owned the Travellers but I use two 102 Energy cabs and the LM 58r amp and there's plenty of bottom end, certainly enough for me.
