1. Nope - don't think you can reply or bump wanted threads. I think there was an issue with people using the wanted threads to avoid paying for the for sale threads.
 2.
An increasing number of people on here think that way.
Why do you think the number is increasing? It seems to me the pro and anti-Ric camp stays pretty much the same, whichever side of the debate you sit on.
 3.
Nice! Where did you get a new Ric from?
Forsyths in Manchester usually have a nice selection of Rics in stock. As do most of the GuitarGuitar stores. They do exist in the real world, despite the ban on here
 4. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
 5.
Only if it contains trades or links to trades concerning Rics. As I explained, this thread being stored here is an anomaly. Any mention of Rics or copies here is fine. No marketing (anywhere on the site, for that matter...) of Rics, in any form, be they real or copy, is permitted. Have I omitted anything..?
No, that's helpful, thanks. But as you say, it does seem an anomaly to have this in the marketplace section of the forum.
 6.
You assumed correctly.
Thanks And am I right to assume that links to ric copies are also banned?
 7.
No links to fake nor real Ric eBay items are permitted
Sorry - I must be being a bit thick here. But surely the only purpose of this thread is to link to fake Rics? If what you've said is right, this thread by definition breaches the ban?
 8.
I presumed that Hamster meant 'the Basschat marketplace' rather than 'the marketplace'.
I've no idea. If we are allowed to post links to Rics on eBay, it would be nice to know. There have been some very nice 4004s on there recently, but I assumed we were not allowed to link to them.
 9.
I wouldn't know about its original purpose, but this thread is for showing off, discussing, praising or criticising Rickenfakers (and real Rics, if you're so minded...).
I'm not sure that's right though, is it? My understanding was that we cannot post links to real Rickenbackers in the ebay thread?
 10.
For ease of reference ... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/209823-rickenbacker-on-basschat/
Interesting to read that again six months on. Hamster says that the purpose of the ban is to prevent copies of Rickenbackers appearing in the market place, however unwittingly. Yet the whole point of this thread is for copies of Rickenbackers to appear in the marketplace deliberately.
 11.
As I understand it, neither I'm afraid as it can still be seen as advertising the item for sale.
Then why is this thread allowed to run? It's sole purpose is to post links to fake rickenbackers, which your post says we are not allowed to do.
 12.
Photos are fine, discussion is fine. Anything sales related is not
Just for clarification, can we post links to real rickenbackers on eBay, or only fake ones?
 13. Bought a set of dimarzio pickups from Neil. Quick delivery and a good price. Thanks!
 14.
My opinion is it is unprofessional to wing it without set lists if it will create time lapses in the entertainment. That would frustrate the hell out of me.
+1. Our set list takes into account, among other things, any guitar or tuning changes. If we have a couple of songs in drop D we will put them next to each other in the set to cut down on the faffing around.
 15.
Anyway I'm not gonna comment much here - don't want this thread locked too.
Me to. But having contributed fairly robustly to the last thread I have to post something in this one, if only to be IBTL
 16.
What I really wanted was a YOB. Tricky year though '66. Early '66 is close enough to Leo chucking the towel in that you could argue it would still be a Fender Fender, but good examples to my desired spec are quite scarce and a lot dearer than a CS.
+1. Even more so if you were born pre-CBS!
 17. Blimey - if you've got your own mic and stand your way ahead of most of the vocalists I've worked with! In my experience, they turn up two minutes before the soundcheck, then after the gig flirt with the punters while we pack up the kit
 18. Good point regarding the case - mine was without a case to be fair, which I guess makes this price look thereabouts.
 19. I picked one up on eBay for around £130 a few years back. I think that BIN is probably at the top end of reasonable, and the starting price is more realistic. They're great basses for the money.
 20.
I have a Hofner '62 and this is nothing like it - Hofner Violin basses are actually very well made and have quite refined features - wave headstock shape, smaller decal, small guitar tuners, two knob control panel with three sliders, etc. they are handmade basses - at leat the German ones are. This looks like a Shine copy with a fake decal. I'll post a pic of mine for comparison sake Steff.
All of that, plus the tailpiece is different too. It does look a lot like one of the Shine or Harley Benton copies. Certainly not a genuine Hofner.
 21.
I think a LTD edition would also have a number plate on the rear of the headstock and be signed by Hans Peter Wilfer, however there could always be an exception I suppose
Agreed. I think that looks like a standard FNA Jazzman.
 22.
I personally mean no offence and haven't felt any coming my way from Simon's posts.
No worries - no offence taken or intended by me either
 23.
Well I have considered the evidence herein and will be presenting judgement in due course
Is there any right of appeal?!
 24. Rest assured that I have read all of that. But surely jgones' only "crime" is that he told her this was a JV Squier. You and I, and most Basschat members, know that that makes it far more collectible than a normal Squier. The seller quite clearly did not know that. Whatever it would have gone for on ebay, she thought it was worth far less than it was. Telling her the true provenance of this bass, as gjones did, is to be commended rather than criticised. Put that another way, telling the truth is to be commended. A point which you seem to have singularly ignored. As I say, I have no personal interest in this bass. I've got three great Precisions already, and don't need another one. But I do find the moral posturing in this thread quite extraordinary. Right - i really am going to bed now!
