@Chimike testing his Ampeg 12-watter through an LFSys Goodwood. "Not loud enough" was the verdict. -

Chris Childs trying out @rwillett's printed headless bass through a Monaco stack - watched closely by Mike Brooks. Look out for a video review of the LFSys Monaco and Goodwood on Mike's excellent YouTube channel Brooksy's Bass Corner. It should be out any time now (he doesn't hang about). -

Later in the day, we heard from Chris Childs - once again ably interviewed by Brooksy. This was a fascinating insight into the world of the professional bass player. -

And Brooksy demonstrating the same. Matt brought a selection of basses (here in the background) and discussed the qualities of the different types. Interesting stuff. -

I'm going to be bringing a Trace TE1200 head and an LFSys Monaco, Silverstone II and Goodwood. This is one of the few opportunities you'll have to find out what LFSys cabs are all about without actually ordering one, as they're only available direct and not through retailers. Head-to-head comparisons cordially welcomed. -
This is one of my favourite basslines ever, and I've never got round to learning it. No excuse now. Thanks, Greg.

I think Barefaced get their covers from Hot Covers now. So, the answer would be yes. They can make covers for anything if you give them the dimensions. @HotCovers Pro Audiohas just joined Basschat and are offering a 10 percent discount on orders from forum members - check out the Affiliates section. Their covers are the best!

The cable's probably tinned copper. I wouldn't be happy using 40-year old wire when it's easy enough to replace with some new stuff.

The 3D printed headless bass was my highlight of the recent SW Bash. I'd love to have another noodle on it. -

What could go wrong????😀 -
I'm not a fan of "Best of" videos either, but this there was a lot of detail in this that more technically inclined buyers might appreciate - not the usual mindless waffle. Shame about the voiceover and AI translation, but the content is much better than the usual fare.

As far as bracing on this cab is concerned, I'd fit a brace on the baffle between the driver and the port. The baffle is always the weakest part of the box and it's worth giving it a bit more strength to prevent it from vibrating sympathetically. I'd also glue a vertical brace on the back panel. The centre of the back panel is the second weakest point of any cab. If you can, fit a front-to-back brace joining these two braces together, which will add to their effectiveness. As @Phil Starr says, this is a small cab and you can probably get away without any bracing, but it's not a lot of extra work and you can even fit it after you've built the cab. The braces should be about 40mm wide. It's up to you, but I'd certainly fit some wadding along the back, sides, top and bottom. About 25mm thick would be appropriate for this cab.

I don't think any of the cabs had tweeters, @Stub Mandrel

Did I say "noisy"? Of course, I mean loud. 😀
-
Yes, you played through a Monza, Rob.

At the end of the day when everybody had gone home, the cleaner arrived with a bucket and mop to clean up the mess.😀

These are the cabs from Phil's demo (next to a headless @Chienmortbb)

The big reveal! @Phil Starr always puts on an interesting demo at the SW Bash. This year, he played a short bass track through all of these cabs - hidden behind an acoustically transparent screen - asking us to figure out what they were. Like everyone else, I didn't have a clue. I knew which one I preferred and which ones I didn't, but that was as far as it went. After the reveal, it turned out we had been listening to a range of cabs containing drivers extending from 6" to 15" - and nobody twigged. Amazing! Which, to cut a long story short, goes to prove something that most of us probably knew anyway: that size doesn't matter. 😀 My personal preference, which I think quite a number agreed with, was for the 8" cab. It sounded cleaner and better balanced to me because it was the only one with any decent high frequency extension. I think Phil is toying with attending the SE Bash. If so, someone should persuade him to do something similar there.

These photos would not be complete without a view of the three LFSys cabs I took to the Bash. From left to right, the Silverstone II, Monza and Monaco. That's my Classic Vibe Precision in the front and a Trace TE1200 providing the oomph.

Nomen ist omen, as the old Romans used say. I found this amusing.
