  1. LFSys will indeed be there, as usual. I'm currently trying desparately to get orders out and build some demo cabinets for the Bash. It looks like I'll be bringing a Monaco, a Monza and a Silverstone II. Together with a Classic Vibe P-bass and a Trace TE1200.
  2. The corners fitted to LFSys cabs are the same as used by other manufacturers. They act as corners and feet, and help lock the top cabinet onto the bottom cab of a stack. They're very hard wearing, but are easily replaced should they wear out or become damaged. I'm not sure what's going on with @tubbybloke68's Monzas, but I'll be seeing Jeff at the SE Bash and will take a look then. There's should be no problem fitting feet to the bottom of the cabs as long as you use the right screws. I fit them at no extra charge when asked, although it's only ever happened once. I can also rotate the horn and the grille badge if a customer wants to use the cab horizontally, which is what you can see in @NHM's Monaco above.
  3. The lesson to take from this is to monitor what's happening to your parcel. If the package is time-sensitive, you need to be proactive if there's a delay. If your parcel hasn't left the Post Office, it should be obvious almost immediately from the tracking info. Also, the Chorley depot has a phone number you can use. I once sent a cabinet off to a customer who wanted it for a gig on the Saturday. It was supposed to be delivered on the Friday but wasn't. So, I called the depot and persuaded them to deliver that day rather than waiting until Monday. It think it might well have been the Chorley depot.
  4. The problems I'm currently having are with La Poste in Paris. The litany of cretinous actions is really hard to believe. So, I guess this could be a large city problem, as you say. Edit: I take that back. Royal Mail has 25% single star reviews on Trustpilot. La Post has 92% single star reviews, many of them complaining about the same things I'm currently having to go through.
  5. I've used Royal Mail a fair bit and the service has been perfectly acceptable - fingers crossed. Sometimes the next-day delivery takes two days, but otherwise no problems. If you think Royal Mail is bad, you should experience La Poste. Unbelievably awful. I've never heard of a British postie trying to scam you for cash and refusing to deliver unless you pay up. And that's the tip of the iceberg.
  6. That's an interesting question. If the small boutique builder insists on using custom components, your'e up you know what without a paddle. I'm pretty sure Vanderkley didn't use custom drivers, however, and crossover parts are easily obtainable. Anyone needing to replace a component should first open the box up to identify the faulty part. I'm guessing the tweeter is a bog standard P.Audio unit, which is available from many sources for not much money. Assuming Vanderkley hasn't removed the label, it should be easily identifiable.

    Cab covers

Hot Covers are based in Carluke, Scotland. Not only are their products very high quality, their service is impeccable. I had an urgent need for four custom covers for the LFSys Monaco. Ordered on Monday - and they were here on Tuesday. So, definitely not made in China. As others have said, it's good to support what little UK-based manufacturing industry we have left.
  8. Sounds like a solution. Maybe get the retailer to check it for noise before shipping.
  9. If you could make it to the SW Bash in five weeks' time, there will be lots of heads for you to try.
  10. John aka @chienmort tested a number of amps at the SW Bash Bash a few years ago. The Veyron was one of them. It had a completely flat frequency response, which is at least half way towards a transparent amp. I still have one and don't find the fan loud, although I think some may be louder than others. It works well with the Monza, I can say, and is the bargain of the century in bass heads. The amp I actually use is the Trace Elliot TE1200, which is superb - and does the 3D/projection thing very well. I know @Clarky has a Monza and a TE1200. Maybe he'll chime in if he sees this. The Trace is a bit pricey, unfortunately, and probably not as portable as the OP is looking for.
  11. John's @Chienmortbbcables are impeccably assembled in the UK using Neutrik plugs (no Chinese ripoffs or imitations) and high-quality cable. A guitar cable is such a critical component, it's worth buying the best.
  12. It might be a bit hard to blind the operator.😀
  13. It certainly looks the same apart from the paint.
  14. It looks like the kind of heatsink that Gauss used to fit. As it's an American brand, Bill will no doubt have more information.
  15. I thought I'd just look up the figures for the sake of clarity. The BB2 measures 56 x 45 x 37cm. The Goodwood measures 52 x 36 x 30cm. Calculating a volume from these dimensions gives us 93,249cc for the BB2 and 56,160cc for the Goodwood. So, the Goodwood is almost half the size of the BB2 - not practically the same size. The weight difference is 4kg. That might not seem much but it means that the Goodwood is less than two-thirds the weight of the BB2. You'll definitely notice it.
  16. 100 litres is a bit on the large side, but the Celestion Pulse tens will work OK in that volume. They also have non-rising mids. Asking Ashdown, as @Lozz196 suggests, isn't a bad idea, as they sell replacement drivers at reasonable prices.
  17. I agree with Phil on this. I'd never recommend having a bass cab in a corner. In this scenario, assuming the cab's 30cm from both the back and side wall, you'll get something like a 15dB boost between 40 and 100Hz, which is too much boom. I usually recommend positioning the Monaco between 15 to 30cm from the back wall to reinforce the very low frequencies (depending on taste). Lifting the cab isn't going to deal with this, as you will get cancellation, but at a higher frequency than you need. If you lift the cab 30cm, for example, and it's positioned 30cm from the back and side walls, you'll get boom plus a nasty suckout at 300Hz, which will be audible. So, you have to be careful (although the low ceiling won't have much effect on the frequency response). My advice would be to keep the cab on the floor, position it 12" from the back wall and well away from the side wall. As @Phil Starr says, put it where the guitar amp is. Then, if necessary, cut between 40 and 100Hz on your amp. Also, try not to have the cab directly behind any object that blocks the sound because that can reduce the level of higher frequencies reaching the audience. Good luck!
  18. I've attended both the SW and the SE Bashes. The SW is in a single hall with one secondary room. The SE was in multiple, smaller rooms. For auditioning gear, the multiple rooms of the SE Bash were infinitely superior. Here, you're in a room with four to six other bassists and don't have to wait long before you can try the gear of your choice at a decent volume without clashing with someone else. Also, turning the volume up in one room doesn't affect anyone in the other rooms. Despite its many-sided wonderfulness, the SW Bash isn't always ideal for auditioning gear because of the way sound travels from one end of the room to another. If you get several people playing at the same time, it can become a bit messy. And with forty people in the room, there is always going to be a clash, no matter how considerate everyone is (which they usually are at the SW Bash). @cetera mentioned this earlier in the thread. So, if there's another room going, I'd suggest getting it. On the matter of mains sockets, @scrumpymike always reminds people to bring an extension, and that's worked well in the past.

You'll be fine with one litre.
  20. Yes, no problem - assuming the replacement will fit, as not all 15" speakers are the same size. It's worth measuring up first.
  21. I'll be there - with as many LFSys cabs as I can muster. There'll probably be at least one new model to try out.
  22. The TE-1200 and LFSys Monza are a match made in heaven. As @Phil Starr says, it's the amp I use, and I arrived at it having tried a lot of different heads over the years. Because of the high power of the Trace, you have to be sensible with the volume control, but your ears will be ringing before you overload the cab.

  24. This is true, and one of the reasons the SE Bash worked so well.
