1. Oooh that looks great. Is it through body stringing and that thumb rest - an interesting out-of-position addition?
2. Interesting review there! I have the BA115HP which is effectively the 15" version of yours and the sound is great, although I find the horn a little hissy on full. I don't know if mine is made in China but I'm going to look when I get home. I use mine much the same as yours, when I can't be bothered to shift my SVT4PRO and 610HLF. It's still a heavy beast for what is effectively a small combo. I find that even for a solid state amp, a very good approximation of the classic Ampeg sound can still be dialled in although I struggle with the input gain as there's no real level indicator nor any noticeable change in sound bar volume levels - what do you think?
3. Who??
4. Same as Krysbass - I learned guitar left handed but learned bass right handed for the same reasons as above and retaught myself to play guitar right handed as well.
5. Digital Village in Cambridge leant me a pair of monitor speakers for a weekend from their display as I needed some urgently but wanted to buy a set from them that they didn't have in stock. So, ultimately they helped me out because of my bad planning, no other reason, as they still got the sale. Good people
6. Filling in at the last minute minute for a band that can't make it. Pop in and say hello if you are bimbling through the area.
7.
Each 2 his own.... I LOVE the NV610 (as a 8x10-but EZ'er) is EZ to move
It doesn't work in proper English, Old Bean. EZ is pronouced Eee Zed....
8. Unless you're going to be making good money or have serious prospects with your band then I'd concentrate on your career - especially when good opportunites come up at your [relatively] young age.
You can always fit a band round a career, if not this one, then another one, but you can't fit a career round a band quite so easily.
Excellent advice.
9.
Yeah, John's gone back to Holland...am i've got the job of trying to keep up with the funk path he followed...tis' fun!!! Haven't got a clue what a Unity night is, sounds interesting though!!!
Thursday nights at the Spirit and Soul bar on Lincoln Road, run by Muddy Promotions. If you're in Groove Cartel you'll play there soon enough!
10. Oh and the VU meter is not designed to light up either.
11. Had one, sold it pretty quickly. It's much more a fuzz than a distortion and in no way would I describe it as an overdrive and despite having low and hi frequency filters loses a fair bit of bass frequencies. There are better fuzzes, distortions and overdrives in my opinion
12. I have one - with J retro fitted. Mutts nutts it is.
13. Doh just seen your sig with the bands in it!
14. Ah Groove Cartel - great bunch of lads there. Their bass player went back to Holland if I remember correctly. I'll try and catch you at a Unity night some point soon. I'll have a few words around. I've three gigs on the Sa[Thora Hird]ay myself, one as a dep - must be a busy weekend! Cheers Steve
15. Hey Chris There's the Boss Micro BR and Tascam's MP3 version of the guitar trainer. Rumour has it Tascam will be making a bass specific version of this which should be excellent but the current Tascam Bass Trainer Mk II is pretty good also. You can use CDs or use a MP3 player as an input source. S
16.
I genuinely have no idea what you just said...
I think it was a compliment on Buzz's choice of men's outfitter.
17. I also say "by" in the same way as you would when referring to planks of wood!
18. What bands are they Jamie? My bands are Peterborough based and I know loads of bass players in the local area.
19.
Lightbulbs and Japanese bikes spring to mind
I've got a Japanese bike - is there something I should know? Should I be changing it every three months?
20.
Skunk stripe? Not a on a rosewood finger board Fender.
Yes on a Mexican rosewood fingerboard Fender. I had one on a Mexican Jazz.
21. I use a 1ft patch cable to connect my Korg tuner to my rack mounted Ampeg head.
22. I think this is a Japanese 60s reissue. The tuners (especially the posts), bridge and the diagonal earthing strap from bridge to bridge pickup make me thing this.
23.
I didn't see the photo first time round... Yep, that looks like an after market decal that's been applied uncut. It should look something like this (as far as I'm aware)...
Yup, the logo on the first pic is not quite right. It's a sort of cross between a 1960 and a 1961 logo. The second pic looks like a [genuine] pre 66 logo, although those tuners ain't right as far as I'm aware.
24.
According to the website it's on behalf of the liquidators acting for piedog.com , who went bottomsup.com a few months ago apparently.
Really? That's a shame. Hope people can get a bargain. Can you bid online by any chance?
25. Nope. Some have it on the neck plate. Some even have it stamped on the bridge. Even on the headstock it can be on the front or the back depending on year, factory etc. That logo is a copy I think or on a reissue.
