1. The ground wire should come from the control cavity to underneath the bridge. As long as there is bare wire there (I tend to splay the wire thread out) then the pressure of the bridge being screwed on to it should provide good enough contact.
2. What I mean by permanent is that you can't reverse it - you have to buy a new nut and then have that filed etc.... If you were using 95 or 100 gauge then I would have suggested increasing as wider strings require greater tension, though a 105 detuned to D should be no problem at all. Check the break angle of the string over the nut first and ensure the string is wound right down to the bottom of the string post and then, sure, consider filing the nut. As I said, any needle file will do but I don't know if they are sold individually.
3. Hold fire a minute. What gauge of strings are you using and what are you trying to tune it down to? It may not be a case of filing the nut, more a case of changing strings or setting the bass up correctly. Filing a nut is a permanent solution and by doing that you can wreck your chances of setting up your bass correctly in future. If you file the nut so that it grips your string then you end up not allowing to move freely in the slot. If you must do it, then you can buy a set of needle files quite cheaply from any DIY store and use one that fits the best.
4. Depping is great. You can get a good idea of covers work whilst not committing yourself, you learn new songs and get to work with other musicians. Oh and you can earn good money. Only thing I would say as a matter of caution is that you need to be 110% sure of your equipment and have a back up plan. People are paying you to play, so an amp/guitar failure is out of the question.

I have some Neutrik ones, that means the gap between pedals is 30mm. I bought them to link my pedals together but unfortunately I am not connecting like with like. The sides of the pedals were not vertical which meant my pedals did not sit flat on the floor. With Boss pedals you should be fine. Mine were from my local music shop. Thomann do offset ones too. If you want mine ( I have four) drop me a PM and we can sort something out. Cheers Steve
9.
Unichorus for sale ... Everybody knows how nice these sound, I just don't find myself using effects. With original box , that's slightly "gig bag worn" and users manual. Maybe trade for a nice compressor ,or £75 posted. Cheers, Nick.
great price!!
10. I have Sennheiser HD205s and have no problem with the bass. I'm wondering if it is the setup that you have on your Tascam. You can change the 'mix' level between the original source and your bass sound in the menus without having to resort to increasing or decreasing the input or output levels. I'd be surprised if any standard set of headphones couldn't handle the output from a Tascam.
11. What sort of songs are being chosen that you are struggling with? Maybe then we can pick some of the same sort that would be good for you to play.

New Fenders
Ok, I'll admit it isn't purely asthetic. But still, I cant see huge differences between say... the 57 reissue and the 62 reissue, or the standard and the 50s precision. All I think is that they should make say an active precision, the big block precision, the american deluxe precision and a simple, standard precision.
I suspect that Fender, with a few more years of marketing experience than you, would have a different opinion. They're out to make money - they're not going to make a model that they can't sell and if they do it won't hang around long.. Why should they limit themselves? They're catering for a diverse market with a wide range of disposable incomes...
16. If this the same one you brought to my house Rich, then this price is excellent!

New Fenders
I can't see what they offer over the mexican standard, or the highway ones, or any of the other precisions out there. I've just had a count, excluding 5 string varients, left handed varients, and models with more than just a p bass pickup, there are 7! There is also an active precision I've not included. I've looked it up, most of these differences are purely asthetics, I think its way OTT.
You missed the better quality paint finish, the better quality tuners, better neck, hard case, better electronics... I reckon if you upgraded a Highway One to the same spec it would cost you more than an American Standard. Up to you if you think the differences are worth paying for but aesthetic? I don't think so. Both are still too expensive (at Sterling rates)

New bridge, new tuners, new nut, new case as far as I can make out.
21.
Who the hell is going to fake a Shine anyway ?
You'll kick yourself when in ten years time the price of Shines have gone through the roof and all you can get hold of is an American made copy....
22. That's beautiful. You'll kick yourself if you get rid of it.......
23. Hmm, that's really bad news for you. Not much help now, but looking at the id, it shows the user has only two posts, both which are items to sell. It's maybe far too easy to assume that ALL Basschat members are above the sorts of behaviour regularly seen on ebay, though we do have a feedback system of sorts so that you can mimimise the risk from buying on here. In any case, I hope you can get it back in to some sort of useable condition.
