1. Because racial equality/harmony is an important thing to promote in this day and age?
2.
Levellers - Levelling the Land (Live)
I didn't realise there was a live recording of the album till you said that...gives me something to chase up next payday I don't have a car but both God Damn Whores albums are currently all I'm listening to on my Walkman and would definitely be in my car if I had one. If that counts.
3.
Hmm, I have done my working from heights course with harnesses. They are designed to keep you alive for max 15 mins (just the fall bit really). If you don't get rescued from the harness within 15 mins you will normally die, due to restriction of the blood flow through the major vessels in your upper legs/groin. Happy Friday everyone!!!
What we were made to remember on my supervisor course was that they're not intended to catch you if you fall - they're supposed to be adjusted to a length that stops you being able to go over the edge in the first place. Which makes more sense of the whole blood-flow-cutting-off-thing.
4.
Depends on what hits you first. I tend to arse about with a guitar/keyboard/bass/hitting the table to get some ideas, then hum some melodies, and then try and fit words into it. Sometimes entirely the other way round. I've written stuff from just a drum beat before, and sometimes written pages of words, and then tried to fit music to them. Inspiration is a funny thing, best not to make a science of it.
Couldn't have said it better.
5.
Looking at the picture i think Noddy will be the next Dr Who !!
I am the last of the time lords. I've seen stars born and worlds die. I've fought long and arduos battles against threats you couldn't even dream of. Whole empires tremble at the sound of my name. Also I played in a neat little rock group back in the seventies, but I don't like to talk about it much.
6. Agree with the OP suggestion of Wildhearts - they always look like they have a blast, both on and off stage. Though I couldn't beat current bassist Random Jon Poole for sheer wackiness. Musically, Stranglers would be my ideal, as I'm a showoff and love how loud the bass is in the mix.
7. Always moved about - might look like a pillock doing it but at least people seem to notice. Happens naturally if the gig's going well, sometimes have to force it if I'm not quite feeling it - means a couple of cock-ups here and there as I'm not focusing on the playing so much, but good enough for rock and roll
8.
cheers dude, will have a look at that soundcloud link.
Your Soundcloud link's probably fine, it's just my computer that has trouble playing songs on SC
9. I plan on getting the DVD when I get paid next week - ME's got an excellent setlist. May be getting a day ticket for Donnington as well - only problem is that I want to go to the Friday of Isle of Wight fest as well, and being on the same weekend I doubt it's feasible for me to get to Donington on the Saturday in enough time to catch most of the bands.
10. Can't get Soundcloud to work but the video was ace - great bass tone and great song.
11. Trying to listen to the stuff but annoyingly Soundcloud won't work on this computer - and my laptop lead's broken so I can't listen on that I'll get my mate to bring his laptop round tomorrow and give them a listen then.
12. It'd be worth it just to see the expression on my old guitarist's face - he was a massive fan and always trying to get us to go in that direction I know I couldn't pull it off though - we used to play Davidian and I had a hard enough time nailing that every practise.
13.
Reminds me also of Jeff Ament of Pearl Jam
Definately, both excellent at laying down a groove without showing off.
14. Also 'How Black Was Our Sabbath' - written by two Sabbath roadies, David Tangye Graham Wright., focusing on their experience with the group but with a fair bit of detail about the band's origins too. Great read and some amusing stories unmentioned in most other Sabbath biogs.
15. Lemmy's autobiography - some great tales in there and all told with a great sense of humour, you've got to admire the man's no-nonsense attitude. Though I lost count of the number of times he says '**** 'em and the horse they rode in on'.
16. Off to the Brum gig - never seen them before, can't wait.
17. The Brum gig last night was phenomenal - Baz's 500th with the band. Amazing, the band and audience were on top form.
18. I love the stories about the confronatations the Stranglers had with journalists - including gaffa taping one to a girder 300 feet up the Eiffel Tower. Doesn't paint them in a very good light, but certainly an interesting way to respond to bad reviews.
19. Gutting - I'd have loved to have seen him with the band back in the day, excellent drummer.
20. Travelled up to Leeds to see them yesterday, one of the best times I've seen them -Genetix is always a treat live. Seeing them again in Birmingham next week. EDIT: Also bought the live CD of last year's tour - shows how tight they are, musically it sounds almost identical to the studio versions of the songs.
21. For me the video keeps stopping two seconds after she starts. Comes to something when even the computer can't put up with it.
22.
I thought they were all clowns and whores...
Looks like I've joined the wrong forum
