If your computer can handle it ... record and mix in 24/88.2k rather than 44.1 or 48k. A startling improvement in clarity/quality for free!

Man, with that sort of quality at 48k - I'm confident you'll love working at 88.2 ( it's like lifting a blanket off your monitors...) Again, great song and mix... please keep 'attempting' those vocals so I can hear more of your work.

Sounds great! I really like the track... fine work all round, particularly the vocal. That's a lovely three dimensional sound from the mic/pre combination - do you record using 88.2 or 96k by any chance?

With many and myriad mics available at low cost - it seems hard to find audio clips to get an idea of sound quality... My bitza Strat - The guitar is made from a budget Tanglewood strat body, cheapie Wesley maple neck, GFS Mean 90 bridge and neck pickups with GFS lipstick in the middle... upgrade electrics and Wikinson hardware. You have tried the mic directly into the interface ( to eliminate a fault with the Penta), different leads,etc?

I made a partscaster with GFS Mean 90s in the neck and bridge (lipstick in the middle). The video posted above gives you an idea but the sound quality makes it hard to actually listen - I'll get a clip recorded...

I think The Focusrite Bilbo mentioned is a channel strip fed to his interface - I use a[url="http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/nov01/articles/trackmaster.asp"] Platinum Trakmaster[/url] myself....
