Please tell me I'm not the only one to have misread this thread title!
How do guys like me, I can't be the only one, deal with this overall lack of interest or compassion for the 4 gig a week lifestyle? Not happy. Blue
I don't really understand this. What are you unhappy about? The fact that not too many musicians want to gig 4 nights a week? The real question is whether there is a demand for bands to play 4 nights a week. If there is, then bands will be hired and the work will be available to those willing to do it. The fewer musicians willing to do it, the easier it should be for you to get that work. It might involve playing in several bands, but that's the life of the pro musician. Are you really suggesting that there are bars wanting to put on live music 4 or more nights a week and are unable to do so because they can't find bands willing to play?? Maybe the thread should be questioning how many gigs per month people are interested in attending, rather than how many they are willing to play.

I've played piano since I was, well, not sure really but I started proper lessons when I was 6. Started guitar when I was 12, but have never come close to mastering it - still can't do barre chords! Ironically, I really wanted to play bass, but was talked into starting on guitar - got a bass in my late teens and found it suited me so much better. More recently I briefly tried and abandoned piano accordion (too unwieldy and heavy and never got fluent on the stradella bass) and moved onto D/G melodeon. Been playing that for about eight years, and have reached the point where I can belt out morris tunes ok, but I've never really gelled with it - I still can't improvise fluently on it, the fact that it's not chromatic frequently frustrates me and I've realized I'll never have the strength or control in the upper left arm muscles to be a really good player. My latest love is nyckelharpa, which I've been playing for 2 years now - love it!!!! Wish I'd discovered this fabulous instrument a few decades earlier.

Pretty sure the pianist plays an Eb somewhere between 6:30 and 7.20. That was probably it. Nice to see God on bass - always knew he was one of us.

That's a lot of hazelnuts.

For what it's worth my advice would be to hold off spending any money for now. Have a go at recording a few tracks with what you already have. Limited options can be a great spur to creativity, and having wrung all you can out of your current gear you will have a much better idea of where your money is likely to yield the most improvement.

Yup, found at the back of a cupboard during a recent clear-out. I can't even remember ever using it, though I may have done back in the day. I hate chucking stuff out that might be of use to someone, so thought it was worth a shot - there are a few "retro" fans on here I think. *EDIT* Actually I think I do remember why I have this; I used to do composing / sound design for theatre, and I recall one show where they needed all the cues on 1/4" tape with sections of clear tape in between to facilitate easy cueing up for the sound guys.

XEDIT "Edit All" tape splicing block for 1/4" tape £10 posted within UK. Thanks for looking. EDIT: the £10 is to cover postage and the hassle of packing it and queueing at the post office . If anyone wants to come round and pick it up from SE London they can have it for free.
I bought a Novation K-Station recently and it's brilliant. Big phat pharty sounds and 70s-soundalike synthy goodness. And programmable memories. I still regret selling my old Roland SH-09 back in the day, but practically speaking the K is the superior instrument in every way.
...not to mention the polyphony! I've had a K-Station for a few years and it is indeed a lovely thing. Still tempted by the new Novation Peak though....maybe one day I'll trade up, but I'm in no hurry
