1. What's with the really dodgy cover for the electronics, looks like an afterthought and made in different wood too?
2. There's a few posts in the wanted section looking for value 5ers. Both my modest attempts at playing 5-string basses were on BBN5s and they are great instruments.
3. Nothing form the various e-mails addresses I've found and tried rather sadly as they seem well regarded on BC; one of the reasons I went there in the first place. Escalated it with Paypal now.
4. Here's mine Antoria Jazz c.1975 off the bay for £100. Decided to take the poor black finish off and found out it was a mahogany butchers block. Still looks nice and with a Kiogon old stylee twin stack knob plate makes some really nice noises (obviously when somebody else is playing it)
5. OK, two emails, one through their website one from my own email account to the customer service address listed with paypal. No response to either. I'll give it to the weekend then I'll get in touch with Paypal for a refund. If you are ordering please be careful. Mine was a standard item so presumably straightforward.
6.
Writing about music is like dancing about architecture.
This I like.
7. Having seen the man over the years in a number of guises I must declare an interest as a big fan of Mr Bowie. I can understand that given the amount of shape shifting and innovation he has given us since ZIggy exploded some may feel disappointed by the recent single. I find it to be very atmospheric with a few nods and references to some of his early work. By all accounts the album has some interesting stuff on it so looking forward to acquiring that in due course. Good to have him back.
8. The other possibility there is so much stuff around is that some people don't reply to PMs. In the last month I've waited in vain for a response on 3 items to no avail. Bit frustrating really, and one might imagine that in this market sellers would be all over any enquiries.
9. Cheers, good point. I'll check back in my in-box as I don't recall getting any e-mail other than the Paypal one.
10. I confess to being slightly worried now as I placed and order and paid via Paypal over 10 days ago and have heard nothing at all. Has anybody else had any issues in getting supplied recently.
11. Robert Johnson for the early recordings. Albert King/John Lee Hooker for Chicago blues, Muddy Waters for the delta blues, and maybe some Free or Blind Faith for a 60s/70s take. Eric Clapton and maybe early Joe Bonamassa too.
12.
*dons GAS-proof suit*
You can buy GAS proof clothing . Where?!

15. Just received a non-standard copy of a Fenix P bass p/guard. Perfect fit and great value too. Many thanks Howard.
16. Surely the Mary Poppins of BC, practically perfect in every way. A special for my P/J Fenix this time, nice work, mega quick delivery etc etc. Thanks John.
17. I think the way music is consumed is very different now and a contributory factor. When I was getting into music in 60s/70s it was all about the album (and the single for some genres obviously). But I remember saving up for the next LP on my list and then sitting with my mates and listening to it A side and B side, in order, often in relative silence too - several times over. My kids consume music more by song than by CD, although my lad does like owning the CD too so something has rubbed off.
18. Hooky & Master Class - There's some words I never expected to see in the same sentence. Not my personal cup of tea, but good luck to the lad.
19. I also omitted to report my ownership of some Audio Technica AD700s. Decent cans (ignoring the pretty dodgy gold/lavender colour scheme), and probably one of the most comfortable headphones I've had. Airy sound, possibly better for classical and jazz rather than rock, but we are straying into very subjective areas here.
20.
....Owned GS1000...
21. The two obvious ones for me would be Geddy Lee or JPJ. But then any of Chris Squire / Mike Rutherford / Roger Waters to see the full prog thing from the stage not the audience would be interesting too.
22.
The "Benefit"... hmm... Nothing worse than having to sit beside some knob on the bus that's belting out the music you despise (although they might be wrong to despise the music you are listening to, they still despise it). Worst of all are the knobs on the bus that don't know what headphones are, and still insist on belting out the music you despise.
Sorry when I said everything else, I meant around the house/music/TV etc. When I'm out and about I always use my in-ear Westone 2s (brilliant btw but not for this thread) with the soft foamy stuff for full insulation, and a portable headphone amp.
23. I keep thing of the Hejira album, so can't get past that to think of other possibilities Slight hijack here (sorry). Anybody also remember Angie Bowie doing her poetry thing with a bass player noodling in the background?
