1. I can't think of a single reason why anyone would not want to hear new music. For my part I would think it supremely arrogant to suggest that anything worthwhile has already been created. You may not like it all, but that doesn't make it bad music, and who is so omniscient that they can consider themselves to be the sole arbiter of taste? Actually reading a few of the recent threads on here it would appear quite a few individuals do.

4. You never said! Massive apologies for not mentioning it first time around, error now corrected. I will go and stone myself later. Yeah, top bloke Peggy; loved the upright btw. How do you keep a straight face during some of the songs, I'd not heard them in ages and some of the lyrics are laugh out loud stuff. For readers wondering what on earth I am talking about, the support were Fake Thackery playing some of Jakes songs (and Led Zep too).

6. I now feel completely unable to write another F/s thread
7. Spent a very pleasant couple of hours (and more) at the Fairport gig in Burnley last night. Added bonus was when I walked in who should be loitering around the merch stand as they were setting up but Dave Pegg. Grabbed a few minutes of his time and had an interesting chat. If you've never been to see Fairport Convention I strongly recommend giving them a try. Yes it's folk-rock or what ever you want to call it, but if you enjoy seeing quality musicians who clearly delight in playing for audiences then you'll probably enjoy this. They also actually talk to the audience too; scary stuff for modern bands sadly. Edit: I committed a serious sin of omission here by not mentioning the excellent support Fake Thackery. Some brilliant reworking of Jakes songs, the lyrics are so well crafted and brilliantly funny. The delivery and timing spot on too.
8. I was distinctly underwhelmed I'm afraid.

10. Current favourites are Fender CL9050s and TI FJ344s for flatwounds, and Ernie Ball Slinky nickel round wounds but I tend to by these as single strings to get my preferred gauges. I also quite like the D'Addario LX nickel round wounds (also bought as singles), although very tempted to try a set of the new D'Addario EXL170BTs to try. Hope that adds to the research!
11.
Rule number one, take the advice you will see/receive on internet forums with the most gigantic spoonful of salt. At the end of the day people on sites like this (including myself) might ramble on about what I perceive to be the shortcomings of brand 'X', its shoddy fit and finish, bad electronics and all of that but it's best to use your own judgement to distinguish between a bass you want to buy and a bass you don't want to buy.
Good advice that I wish I had followed some years ago - my personal experience rather spoilt fenders basses for me. Individuals on forums can realistically only ever have played a tiny percentage of the output of mass producers. Even adding up the collective experience of Fender playing on here, it will span instruments made over a number of years and is unlikely to be statistically significant. So make you own decisions on what you play, and if possible get hold of as many as you can - should be easier with Fenders than other brands I suspect.

I saw the bass in your sig. and wondered which one you had. When I bought this one there was also the choice of a Zebrano topped bass, but the Wenge just won me over.
13.
That seems a bit ageist to me. Anyway, you only need to be 32 to legally be a grandad.
As I'm well north of 50 now I'm allowed to be a big ageist (only a little bit though)
14. For me, and I'm a massive Zep fan and serial gig goer back in the day, absolutely not. Respect is due for what they achieved but let's support the up and coming bands now. It's farcical to me that the Strolling Bones are up for best live act - are a bunch of grandads really the best we can do? Saw them in the 80s too! Seek out live music, demand it in pubs and clubs. It will do us all good I expect.
15. This is top quality gear. Audiophiles will love it with some good headphones.

Thanks, it's a real wrench to sell it
17. Seller has posted all the questions and queries on the listing so maybe his lack of knowledge is reasonable?
18. One for Fender experts. Is this for real / what is it? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221191522984?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Pulse gig Friday 15 Feb

I see you managed to capture my bald patch perfectly
20. Update for those following this thread. I received an e-mail from Minotaur today apologising for the situation and explaining that the site had been hacked and my order and e-mail never appeared. So it looks like they are still in business (good news). I may well take them up on the offer they have made me.
21. Popped along to see Pulse, a bunch of young hopefuls playing music by this new up and coming beat combo Pink Floyd. Very good evening indeed; good lighting rig, great sound, and over 2 1/2 hours too! Bonus, a BCer on stage - see if you can spot him - to be fair he sold me the tickets. Here are some pics:
