1. Just sold my Terror Bass to Johnny. Really cool guy, easy to deal with, cash on collection and now he has the most rightous rig in .... Bucks! Deal with confidence
2. Just sold my compact to dylan. Great guy to deal with, communicative and a good fella. ....Also seems popular/well known amongst londoners managing to bump into people he knows! Never happens to me! Deal with confidence. Recommended.
3. They're bloody good amps. If I had more money available I'd keep it, but needs must. I'd say you're more than welocme to come round and try it, but I dont have a cab anymore.....if you want to bring a cab, you can.
4. Thanks Si, yeah this really can kill. Mixed emotions with the sale of this - sorry to see it go. Best of luck with the midget hunt.....
5. [s]Due to some pretty lifechanging circumstances (I have a baby due in 2 weeks!) and my lack of a band at present, I've decided to move my rig on. So for sale is this (seemingly) ever popular combination, which I wont go into great detail as I think its all well documented: Orange Terror Bass 500, softcase, strap, power cable and attenuator - Fantastic amp, Great tone, loud, portable and looks cool! Looking for £350.00 Sold!!!!: Barefaced Compact & rocksolid cover (unpadded) - In prestine condition, gigged twice. Looking for £450.00: Sold!!!!! (the other compact and midget moved on a while back) These are both in excellent condition - I look after my gear, here's my feedback: http://basschat.co.u...52#entry1816152 I live in Bedford, work in London, so I'm happy to meet round Liverpool street/Kings X areas during the week (maybe St Pancras on a weekend), or can drive at the weekend to meet within a reasonable distance from bedford. This rig sounds immense but is such an easy carry. Should I be in a position to be playing again I'll end up buying this set up back I'm sure. Thanks for looking, any queries, drop me a line. thanks[/s]
6. Hi Mark, I noticed your post. Sorry, I'm not looking for any trades at the moment.
7. Hi All, A better pic to follow shortly tonight, but I'm moving this on as I dont really use it at the moment. This is a pretty well known pedal so I won't go into detail. Comes boxed (tinned) with instructions etc and stickers! Its in great condition - I couldnt find any scratches/dings or the like. I'll remove velcro before sending unless you want it kept on there. Looking for £105 posted, or happy to meet London (Kings-x, Liverpool St areas) or Bedford. Thanks for looking
8. They're obviously from the same school of thought as the band LostAlone's bassist in this months BGM: "The secret of playing bass well is to be a lead guitarist for 10 years, then move onto bass. You'll pick it up pretty easy." If I'd known that, I'd have picked up a guitar first! At least we all know the secret now! Still a bit miffed that made it into a bass mag.
9.
I need to know definitively because i plugged two 8ohm speakers in the back of the head and one blew
What GB head do you have and what cabs are you using? If they're definitely 8ohm cabs it wont be an impedance mismatch....
10. It all depends on how they're wired: Two 8 ohm cabs in parallel = 4 ohms Two 8 ohm cabs in series = 16 ohms This is a useful link to calculate total impedance and power from your amp going to each speaker: http://www.duncanamps.com/technical/impedance.html It also has basic diagrams showing you how the speakers are wired. Hope that helps
11. If they're daisy chained in parallel (which I believe most cabs are) the load presented daisy chaining will be the same as that plugging into the amp. No difference. If daisy chained and they're series, the the load would double - i.e. two 8 ohm cabs would present a 16 ohm load. This would result in circa half the power your amp puts out at 8 ohms.
12. Best of luck tonight then! Looking forward tot he conclusion, but sounds like you'll be on good form!
You wrestle whores into submission?!?
Shame we didnt know about you before the olympics started, GB dont have an entry for that event this year!
13. Id advise the band of your predicament, but the fact youre prepared tö do it and youll need tö Slam it for four days. They can either go with another dep, or go with you. I think the important thing is its an informed choice on their part. I wouldnt want a dep blagging it personally. If youre keen tö get tö grips with the db, good opportunity tö have a crack and let them know you can in the future once youre ready. If love tö say go for it, but Could be a very long uncomfortable gig otherwise and sounds ike your rep could be on the line.
14. We're expecting in October! Out of all the preganancy/post birth books I've read to date, this topic hasnt been mentioned anywhere. Thank you for the insight, its very much appreciated and sounds like an issue that needs to be brought out into the open more by the bassing community
15. Ah, I love Rancid, some fantastic bass playing - Maxwell Murder's on my hit list to learn this year...... maybe it'll lead to a new concept album - Rancid Ham(fisted). Anyone of the opinion that all punk is easy and boring on bass needs to have a good listen. Great track, and I'm afraid I cant contrinute any tips or advice....good luck with it though!
16. Well done. Very nice set up. If you havent killed a small animal in 2 days, youre not doing it right!
17. Hi Joel, im a new subscriber from 6 months back. I really like a lot of the suggestions above that youll be looking into. I think theyll massively improve an already decent read. My tuppence would be rather than the "Bass in the USA" section, to cover bass across different countries. Other countries exist outside of the US, with equally or more interesting bass scenes. Im sure theres journos elsewhere prepared to chip in. Im looking forward to the evolution over the next few months, and thanks for opening the floor. Cheers
18. Thanks Geoff, sounds good. I'm going to have to go and try one of these out soon i think, much to the fear of my wallet! Have you got the silver or white face plate version? I like a limited eq on the amp - my OTB is great because of that, i hate having to try and dial in a tone. Much prefer to know its there and that I can only subtly mess it up!!
19. Id be very interested how this holds up gigging, together with your band setup etc. Ill check later! Congratulations on the purchase!
20. At last!! Thanks!! A more subtle way than just grabbing my better half and blantantly poinjting staring and talking her through it!!
A hint of gear stalking there, you may need this...
21. Really enjoyed it, and learnt a fair bit that I and my wife (who loves bowie) didnt know about his writing development. Didnt get to watch them all so got queued up for tonight! Seen a tribute band previously, but never bowie unfortunately - Absolute Bowie - who do an incredible version of moonage daydream - my absolute favourite bowie song. Amazing bass lines through all his ziggy stuff and great fun to play.
