1. Thanks for the replies so far guys, looking and musing!
2. I'd give SFX a look and Tech-21 Bass XXL. MXR blow torch on the fuzz side is also quite nice, as is a turbo rat which you can grab pretty cheap
3. Hi, So I'm getting married to my lovely lady on 13th May 2012, and we are looking for a band as part of the evenings entertainment and thought I'd ask here if anyone was interested? We're looking for a professional, but fun band. Outline details of the gig so far are as follows (I'm aware I need to screw down some finer points with the venue): Date: Sunday 13th May 2012 Start time: Around 8ish (not sure on set up time, but I'd anticipate mid morning or something) Playing time: circa 2.5 hours Genre: 70s rock/ 80s New wave & new romantic/ 90s brit pop/ rock/ heavy rock/ party - kinda along the lines of David Bowie, Blur, GnR, Zeppelin, Blue Oyster Cult, Maiden, Adam Ant, Queen, Gary Newman, soft cell (no stevie wonder or mustang sally!!) - kind of a jist, not all absolute requirements of course!! If you're interested, drop me a PM with your band name, a link to your site/myspace if you have one, any youtube footage and some kind of indicative set list that you do as well as an indication on fee. If theres anything you think I've missed drop it in there, and we'll go from there! Any questions, also let me know and we look forward to hearing from you! Cheers Andy
4. Guitarist got pissed and lost his guitar on a nightbus.....also affected a gig. Guitarist collapsed at work having overdone the partying for a few months. Again affected a gig. At least theyre genuine I guess, even if foolhardy!
5. I emailed planet waves with the question "does this work well with bass guitars, and particulalry on a low B on a 5-string". I recieved a rather comprehensive response that I thought I'd share: "why yes it does. works great on my lap steel ,mandolin etc.. as well. thanks George Santos" Not sure what else I was expecting to be honest....
6. I think you may, unfortunately, be right! On the plus side, I'm pretty confident the whole bass playing world is holding its breath for Doods review of clip on tuners for basses without headstocks. Now you're not gonna tell me thats not exciting! I for one am intruiged!!
7. Thanks, thats useful. Found some other reviews that mention the B string being between "absolutely fine" to "a little slow" to "easier to tune on 12th or a harmonic". I think i might give one a whirl, I only have one on my board at the moment, and it'd be nice to just plug and play. Its a great feeling being excited about a tuner!!
8. These look really interesting. Are they consistent, and do they pick up and tune a low B well? I use a pitchblack on the floor at the moment, but a lighter weight, smaller and very accurate bit of kit like this looks amazing. Any in field feedback is appreciated!
9. Great read. I love dep, hvent read much from the bass side of things before. Thanks for posting and pinning!
10. Whats the difference between the white and the silver version face plates? is there any?? I'm keepingmy eye out for one, and much prefer the silver look.....
11. Er-15s or er-20s?
12. Hi, it is, although I think ive miss placed one of the rubber filler plugs for the hole. I also have the brackets with it to mount a power supply on the underside.
13. Should be fine as its solid state. You effectively run it without a cab if you only have one cab hooked up as theyre separate power amps from memory.
14. Thats hot to trot!! I love everything about tht rig! Well done!!
15. I have the purple box, and love it. Really aggressive and keeps the lows in there nicely, but can slice through a mix. Good price for this I think. If I didnt have one id be interested!
16. Monday night drop to £80......
17. [sub]Bought a PT mini from Mark. I can only echo the sentiments above. Great chap to deal with, kind enough to meet halfway for a handover, and looks after his gear. Many thanks, and all the best![/sub]
18. I made the move from a 3-pro to a shuttle 9 a coupla years back. I also bought a compact at the same time, and completely changed my rig. The shuttle 9 is a lovely, loud, warm amp, and you can get some nice grit in there. I do regret changing everything at the same time though. I think GAS got the better of rather than my better judgement in some ways. I'd have loved (in heinsight) to have run the 3-pro with the compact for a while. I do miss that amp sometimes. However at the time as well, i had no transport and the whole light weight walk yer rig down the road was pretty important, so that also becomes a factor with the class D consideration. Whatever you decide I'm sure it'll be fun!!!!
19. I've just picked up a Roland Cube 20-xl. Its just for home use at low levels, or with headphones. I'm really impressed with it, and whilst it prpbably has a few too many effects that I'll use, it is quite nice having them there. Best overall feature for me was the tone versatility and the depth of sound at a low volume. Obviously tie will tell, but at the moment, I'd say check one out if you have the chance.
20. I've enjoyed all three of those brands in one form or another over the years. They are different animals, and I'd definitely say it was worth taking a drive with your bass and trying out as much gear as you can. Only way to truly know what you think of each, and interacting with them.
21. No worries, if you're interested in one, drop Max a line, he's really helpful and friendly.
22. Personally, I love it. Not guitarish, and really keeps the low end in there. Theres also a mid switch to help cut through a bit better in a live mix. I think theres some samples on the SFX site actually: http://www.sfxsound.co.uk/mainpage.asp?page=micro_fuzz I went through a few fuzzes before settling on this one.
23. Hi, Having sold a couple of pedals, I'm downsizing my board to a PT mini (hoping I can squeeze everything onto one!). My PT2 is velcro'd and in very good order (both board and case). I havent drilled or moded it at all. Pic below with pedals on: I'd ideally like to not have top post this, and can meet london (Kings-x, London bridge, liverpool street, city etc.) or Bedford (or most stations between the two). I'm looking for [s]£85[/s] £80, and can provide more detailed pictures etc if required. Drop me a line if you have any queries, thanks, Andy
24. PM on the PT Mini......
