1.
Sounds awesome! I'd suggest WD music for the best tort as they do the real deal. You can read about it on offsetguitars.
i've used WD before when i blinged up a MIM P bass once before, they are good i agree.
2.
My missus gave me permission to acquire a P-bass last night. These are very high on the shortlist...
i can very highly recommend the 50's, as long as you like the wide neck,i'd say this is a nicer bass than my last MIA P bass & that was very nice.
3.
Grats man, needs tort!
you know i've been looking at it thinking the exact same thing plus of course some covers & a tug bar cheers
4.
give it a quick bash before I had to go out. :/
ah I remember when I used to do that when I was younger stops you getting a bar on when chatting up the ladies sweet bass looks very nice indeed let us know how she performs, enjoy.
5. i had a good old play on this last night & stuck some fender flats on it,very nice indeed sounds just as it should, damn fine build quality too, hell even the factory setup was spot on all it needed (for the flats) was the truss rod tightened a 1/3 of a turn--perfect. i just love the neck to bits to its a very good £588's worth.
6. sounds like someone has just fitted a 62 reissue control plate to an American standard jazz bass, its a very useful mod as you of course have volume & treble control for each pickup,on my old '62 RI i'd roll some treble of the bridge pickup. a while back i sold a MIA jazz to fellow BC'r Chrisdabass who did just that to it,very nice it was too.
7. if you're not happy with mate then send it back,if you keep it you'll never be happy with it & most likley wish you'd returned when you could have done. having said that the gap in the neck pocket,2 sheets of paper, that sounds like a very small gap to me & wouldn't worry as long as the bass played well,as for the dead spot now that would piss me off. last year i bought a MIA P bass from my local dealer which had a high fret which needed sorting,my dealer was a total arse about it but i insisted he sorted it,he begrudgingly did. so if you're not happy don't keep it.
8.
Excellent move ! You instinctively know when something is right You do attract the Fiesta red basses y'know. That Fiesta red Road Worn Precision you sold me goes out most weekends - s'lovely
you know i do wish i'd not sold that bass it is a brilliant bass for sure agree about the neck guys its very nice indeed, nicer than the USA P bass which i recently swapped -- (see there's a pattern here). i really really like this bass it's very nearly as good as the Roadworn i stupidly sold, mind i stupidly sold my Roadworn Jazz bass too,its official I AM STUPID.

pissing it down bump
10. so i decided to take advantage of the instant rebate Fender are offering at the mo' & bought a 50's P bass in fiesta red from guitar guitar which has just arrived . unfortunately i'm at work so have only had a quick look over/play on it,but so far for £588 delivered i am well happy, what a lovely bass with top notch build quality, can't wait to get home stick some flats on & plug it in. truth be known i am a die hard Fender fan although i always move them on in the quest for "the" bass but always come back home to good old Fender,so lets see if i can hang onto this one. while i like my G&L (which is in the for sale section) i don't need all of those available tones for the music i play, a good P bass is all i need, its so nice to just plug in & play without messing around with a multitude of controls.

14. epic add molan i almost peed my pants laughing. just wish i could afford this lovey bass even if it's not as AWESOME as some basses on here.
15. fellow BC'er mr Bassman very kindly let me borrow his Plat-pro but i didn't really get on with it very much & prefer to use a Boss bass eq pedal instead. both do boost the signal strenght as both have an output volume control but if boosted too much then feedback becomes a major problem.
16. as mentioned above don't over play or you'll knackered before you finish the first set. i'm new to DB too, have done 3 gigs so far & thoroughly enjoyed all of them. you may have some feedback issues,i do,but with a bit of eq'ing you should be fine. it's a real blast, you'll love it but most importantly enjoy it.
17. G & L tribute L2000 deluxe any good as a trade ?
18. 'orrid 'orrid 'orrid
19. i'll have to give it a try at my next gig & if it works, which i'm sure it will,i may have a go at making some of those there covers, they look very good indeed,i like my bass pretty loud too. cheers.

Guts

i really want a set of Lambert's but the website has been saying "site under construction" for ever with no obvious way to order any. my band plays nothing but 50's music now & although i like the super silvers i'm using now they just don't have that authentic gut sound to me.
21.
have you tried plugging your f/holes artisan? at least 4 layers of gaffa tape is needed, single layer is no good
i certainly did consider doing just that but i don't want to damage the finish on my bass, thinking that if i remove said tape it may just bring the lacquer off too, can't make a mess of my baby. i did a gig last saturday using my Roland D-bass 210,big improvement over the G.K. (now long gone) plenty of power & punch, not too much problem with feedback either just a minor eq tweak required. the gig went very well too,my slap technique seems to be coming on nicely now & earned me a few rounds of applause from the punters, which was nice. it was a smallish venue one again so we weren't overly loud,no drummer either ......yippeee,however i feel if i'd needed more volume the feedback bug may have reared its ugly head once again. I've been wondering if a second sound post may be a big help,i'm not bothered about the loss of acoustic volume as i always use an amp anyway.
22. ooohhhh that's purty
