1. I too play slap double bass without a drummer & have to say that i don't struggle at all with my timing. Maybee you concentrating on the instruments too much & not on your rythm. Are you loud enough ? After all you are the entire rythm section so you need to be heard & felt.
2.
It's ok for the most part, but it's a bit meh, and there are some weird volume balance jumps. Eq is odd, very deep, not bad though. It lacks the sparkle and the auditry psychology tricks that someone with 51m0n's knowledge and experience can bring too it.
this sums it up perfectly. mainly too muddy can't hear the instruments clearly, especially your bass love the song though & with a really good mix it will be really good. kind of reminds me of a Kind Diamond / Scorpions type of thing.
3. I think you should give it at go Chris, there's nowt like jumping in the deep end
4. no worries both the Bartolini pre's were the MK1 type & both on Cort basses too -- no more Bart' mk1's for me where as my Zon was the import Sonus 4. really weird, mid gig i'd get carried away & really dig in (finger stylee) then the buggers just went quiet on me,only for a second but damn annoying.
5. Err yes really. I think i know the difference between clipping & momentary silence. On my basses there was no other fault just the pre cutting when i dug in like a maniac.
6.
Sounds to me like when you're digging in, the pre is overloading & protecting itself by cutting. As you say you haven't experienced this in passive mode, it points to the pre. G.
this sounds very likley to me as i have owned two basses that did exacty this. Two basses with Bartolini pre amps & a Zon Sounus
7. Good question i think its just a cosmetic thing really cheers
8.
Here's a gratuitous picture of me SBR-150. A really good bass
i just made a mess in my undies that is beautiful
9. You could always buy my Esh in the for sale section Looks nothing like a Jazz but plays like one,the neck is very jazz'ish plus it can do anything a Jazz can & then some. It's a bargain too
10. wednesday tea time bump kind of thing
11. It wil certainly help a lot, once it'd moved mine i realised i had far too much bass before plus my speakers like me again now.
12. hi Pete,i have still had a problem recently with feedback but once i moved my pickup onto the G string side of the bridge i have not had a single squeek out of it,i did have to up the bass a little on the Fishman but still get a really good sound.
13. Saturday bargain bump
14. still struggling to find a box so i can ship this beauty but i'll keep trying. lots of interest but no definite buyers as yet,so she's still available.
15.
Pity you're not shipping this, I might take it as I'm in 'buying mode' now. I did try one of these years ago (single PU model) and it's one of those basses you don't think much of at first sight and can't put down afterwards. Fun to play.
P.M.'d
16. hi guys,it is very nice isn't it sorry i don't have any sound clips or anything to record them with but rest assured it does have a multitude of tones available,it even does a passable Wal kind of sound. i really like it but just don't use it & the wife wants a new bathroom suit too so i need some dosh so trades are not really an option i'm afraid - - well unless you have a nice old Aria SB that is. shipping could be possible if only i can find a suitable box that the Hiscox hard case will fit into, mmm.
17. *new price £600.00* well since i'm just about to spend a whole load of dosh on a custom Alpher bass & need to raise some cash to help pay for it this lovely bass is back up for sale at a silly reduced price of £600.00 which is a total steel for a bass of this quality, so buy it Fantastic quality bass guitar hand made by Esh Basse in Burgthann,Germany. I bought this bass from Bass Direct here in the U.K. only a few months ago & have to say it is a fabulous bass with extremely high build quality,it really does play like a dream, sounds awesome too with a very good range of sounds available. Here's how Bass Direct described my bass - "Finished in a beautiful Red trans finish over a lovely piece of flamed maple, this bass has real class. The EMG J style pickups give some classic J tones with crisp attack and full low end. The Piezo bridge adds a new dimension to the already impressive range of sounds. If you are looking for a new four string bass then this is a must." " •Body - Swamp ash Flame Maple top in red hand applied stain. Flame Maple headstock •Finish - High Gloss Clear •Neck - 3 piece American Maple bolt on neck with Walnut stringers, patented Ultra Contact neck pocket construction •Nut - Graphite •Frets - Medium Jumbo •Fingerboard - Wenge, 34" scale, 24 frets •Pickups - 2 x Active EMG J pickups, Individual Piezos •Controls - Volume, Tone, Pickup selector, Esh-Tronics control* •Bridge - Schaller/ESH custom bridge in Ruthenium finish •Tuners - Schaller M4 type 2000 in Ruthenium finish •Weight - 8lb 14oz, 4kgs *THE UNIQUE SOUND / Esh-Tronic The Piezo bridge combined with the patented esh-tronic delivers one of the best Piezo sounds available. Together with a studio direct out, it provides the professional player with a very flexible and perfect tone. This special system is the perfect circuit for the active EMG pick ups and our USP, the finest Piezo-Design. The esh tronic is your "command"-knob to switch several circuits: a)Direct Out. For studio use, a direct out for the EMG pickups which bypasses all the electronics. b)Magnetic Pick ups only. In combination with the toggle switch knob you can think of it as a preset c)Magnetic and Piezo Pick up. This combines the "best of both worlds" d)Piezo only. This is an unbelievable deep sound, precise and clear with a full low end. Not typical of the usual "thin Piezo sound"! The pick-up system is powered by one 9 volt battery. If you were to play 8 hours a day the battery would still last you a year due to the tiny amount of energy that it uses. It is clear that Esh basses are at the cutting edge of sound and design! nuff said (link to this actual bass) http://www.bassdirec...ious_4_Red.html there is a small mistake in Bass Direct's listed specs as this bass has a Wenge fret board.(corrected on here but not the web) So come on & grab yourself a bit of a bargain as these have a List price of £1434.99 ! I have a good quality condition gig bag for this bass which you are welcome too. I don't have a box to post this to you so it is collection only i'm afraid although i may drive a small way to meet up with the buyer, trust me this bass is worth the drive. 18.
That's a great price for a brilliant bass - I need to get myself a nice old Aria again, they really are superb
cheers,i am very happy with it,it had a few issues that needed attention plus some new strings & a good setup,it is a brilliant bass now though,i'm loving it infact i'm gigging it tomorrow night. there is another one in the for sale section for £300
19. I would think its worth less than an Elite II,i just bought an ELT from the from sale section on here for £260.
20. Thanks Noel,i thought it was the same as mine but i am not an expert on these fantastic basses. I love my ELT to bits it reminds my of the SB900 i had when i was young & stupidly sold,if i ever see one at the right money i will have to buy it. Cheers again.
21. hi chaps please check this add http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RARE-1980-s-Aria-Pro-II-SB-Elite-II-Bass-Black-Made-in-Japan-Turu-neck-Bass-/121152191390?pt=Guitar&hash=item1c353bbb9e am i right thinking this is actually a non Japan built SB ELT (like mine) & not a Japan built Elite II ? I asked the seller & didn't get a very friendly reply cheers.
22. hi,not badly actually,i initially thought the holes in the body were too large but once i had taken the pickup out i realised that some total herbert had put an extra piece foam under said pickup which was causing it to sit far too high, had consequently pulling the ferrules out of the body. i removed the extra foam then refitted the pickup the ferrules seem to have located & locked into place correctly, the G string side works fine but the E string side seems as though someone (not me) has tightened the adjusting screw to extremes. so now i need to carefully try to unscrew the ferrule & adjusting screw without crushing the ferrule, very careful use of mole grips i think.,however if it doesn't want to budge i'll not force it as i can live without been able to adjust it,at least the pickup now sits straight too. really loving this old Aria, sounds great, plays lovely & looks cool.
23.
Easier still, put some araldite into the ferule hole, slide the ferrule back into place whilst attached to the pickup - that'll make sure it goes in square and ends up in exactly the right position. Leave to set overnight, jobs done.
well i decided to stop messing around & use this method, just bought some 2 part evo stick so will have a go this evening. Cheers
