I ve custom order mine from Chris and Alex ! You will regret this one! They are unbelievable instrument and great price too ! Good luck with the sale ! For all the people here that never played an Alpher instrument , what to say? After owning lots of boutique instrument, Alpher basses are one of my favorite! I don't regret selling my adamovic or roscoe but soon I will have my hands on one of those basses! Great work ! Bug with confidence u won't be disappointed!
Thanks This is a truly astounding bass that i would love to keep but sadly i just can't afford too as i need the cash.

I think MIA Fenders are all very good now,i have never played a 2008 onward one that wasn't excellent.
-
Love that neck plate, very tasty indeed. I have had a love hate relationship with Fenders for a few years but always gravitate back to one in the end. You'd think i'd have learnt by now Really pleased with this P though, its white/tort/rosewood it just needs a set of flats,Ernie Ball Group II's incoming.

I've done gigs where the headline act used our amps & drums usually with no problem. However i did have a 15" speaker blown by a certain Norman Watt Roy during a Wilco gig at Fibbers in York some years back. Guess who paid for a new speaker ? You guessed it i did.
Yes! Totally. Great necks, bodies, love the high mass bridge with optional loading thru or over, great pickups. Worth ever */&$ing penny! Those who say they are over prices don't know their B-ass from their elbow. Here's a second hand pristine from Mark at Bass Direct http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Fender_USA_P_4.html
i totally agree, love mine it's a great bass. Plus i got mine very recently brand new for considerably less than the one at B'Direct. Mine is a 2008 which was hanging in a local shop for the last five years, needless to say they wanted rid of it so i bought it for a very good price indeed. Its a cracker & is going no where.

:edit -- i may be able to do a trade deal for a 2008 on MIA Fender P or J or maybe a Ray' but only with a good chunk of cash my way too please note for trade valuation is still £1500.00 but i am open to sensible offers **** NEW CASH PRICE £1200.00 **** one & only price drop,i can't drop the price any more than this so please don't ask. it is with great regret that i am having to sell this beautiful instrument, basically i have taken a financial gamble that didn't pay off as i had hoped so now need to make up the short fall, hence selling my prized custom bass this is without doubt the most amazing & beautiful bass i have ever owned or even played for that matter. the build quality & sheer attention to detail that Alpher put into all of their instruments is frankly astounding, this bass has blown me away from the day i first picked it up. it plays just as good as it looks,i have never ever played anything that even comes close to this bass,it needs to be played to be believed. it sounds absolutely awesome too, fitted with custom wound Wizard pickups through a custom John East 2 band preamp (both treble & bass have internal trim pots to adjust the frequency range that each band adjusts). that body is made from truly lovely Indian Rosewood & is just beautiful (see photos) the top wood is amazing Claro Walnut which is just stunning (my photos don't do it justice) a maple veneer separates the two body woods the neck is Wenge which looks fantastic & feels sublime under the hand the fretboard is of very nice Macassar Ebony & that just looks bloody lovely too finish it tru oil which really brings out the grain of the gorgeous woods used. pickups are custom wound Wizard items custom 2 band preamp is by John East bridge & light weight tuners are Hipshot items it is fitted with new Labella slapper strings which really suit it comes with a Hiscox hard case *edit* it does have a slight ding on the front where some tit hit it with a speaker lead,i tried to photograph it but gave up as you couldn't see it as it nowt really but i thought i'd best mention it this is one stunning bass guitar which i wouldn't be selling if i had the choice .....booo hoooo..... so if you were fancying a custom Alpher bass (or just a stunning bass) why wait to have one built when you can just buy mine & save a few hundred pounds to boot.
Being a right tight bastard, you should have ordered one from here: http://www.ebay.co.u...&_qi=RTM1575516 It's 45p cheaper!
oh bollocks,45p is a fortune to a Yorkshireman like me
hi. Where did you order your gramma pad?
i ordered it through Amazon,here's a link . http://www.amazon.co.uk/Auralex-GREAT-GRAMMA-Great/dp/B000FDU2UK
-
Great Gamma ordered,many thanks again
-
It's not good on a small Gramma, but ace on the larger one. It's not very stable on the smaller one. I have both
many thanks, looks like its the bigger one then but i'd rather have my rig stable so its worth it. Chris_b thanks for your reply but it seems my cab is a bit deeper than yours,oh well its only £20 more
-
i have a gig this saturday night on a very boomy wooden stage,we have played here before & i really struggled to get a good sound so am thinking i may at last buy a Gramma pad which should sort the problem. my cab is 1-1/2" deeper than the standard pad but the feet are set slightly in from the edges so i'm thinking it will just fit on nicely,i want to order it asap to make sure it arrives in time but i'm at work so can't measure anything today. so any of you guys use the same cab on the standard pad ? i don't really want to buy the great gamma as i am a right tight bastard also i'm thinking the gramma should help to control feedback issues that still occasionally plague my Double Bass.
When I ordered my cover I mentioned the wheels and asked if the cover tapered towards the back to allow the wheels to move freely. This is the answer I got back: "The cab cover has cut-outs for the wheels at the back so should be fine." So I am assuming yours doesn't have the cut-outs?
hi,yes mine does have the cut out for the wheels but the whole thing is about 10-15mm too long,so the cut out actually covers most of the wheels & every where else touches the floor. Roqsolid are going to alter it for me free of charge though so its no problem, otherwise the quality of the cover is superb. Did the 3rd gig so far with my new rig last night, the speakers are now fully broken in & man what a sound,my D.B. was really rockin' the house,i couldn't stop grinning,i really love my Genz rig During sound check i plugged my Alpher in & that sounds fantastic too,all i need now is a second band so i can actually use it as you just can't play Rockabilly on bass guitar it ain't right
-
Same here, just standard padding. I like it but i am going to get it altered as it is toi long. Oh checked my cab too & its a US made one
Roqsolid cover arrived. What a fantastic company! These guys put a lot of our Brit companies to shame. Excellent service and great cover.
how's the fit of your cover ? Mine is slightly too long so touches the floor on the front & sides,i may return mine so they can shorten it a tad.

Rabbie thanks for the info much appreciated. I may try some Lenzers in the near future & keep my innovation E string as i really like it for both tension + sound. Paddy109 cheers for the info Its a never ending & bloody expensive quest for the perfect tone it seems, but for now i'm happy.
My main bass is also kept in the corner of our living room and my wife never complained about gut strings smell in our house. I was also raised in a farming village and yet I am not that familiar with the smell of donkey's bahoochy. Makes me wonder about the person on doublebasschat.....
Lol i did wonder as to the truth of his comment but even so it had put me off trying guts but now i may just give them a whirl. Any reccomendation for some ecconomical guts ? Cheers
-
Sounds like they'd be perfect for me then i just don't fancy paying the rather high price for a set of guts as i am a tight yorkshireman Someone on Doublebass chat once said the only problem with guts was "they smell like donkey ass" This puts me off a little too.
-
Thanks Rabbie I must admit i would love to try some guts but at the price they are i'd be a bit worried about not liking them, plus my bass lives propped in the room corner right next to our sofa so if they smell manky the wife wouldn't be too pleased. I'm really chuffed at the moment though my bass sounds great, well appart from my dodgy playing

after 18 months or so of swapping about i think i have finally settled on my choice of strings ( for now) without spending too much in the process. initially i had Innovation Super Silvers,i quite liked these but the tension on the D & G was a bit too high for slapping in comfort. next came a set of Superior Bassworks Deluxe Wackers,i didn't like these at all due to the very rough texture, dead sound & found i struggled with my intonation with these. next came the Rotosound RS4000,i've had these on for quite a while now & whilst loving the D + G to bits i have never been too happy with the wrapped E + A strings as i found the tension a bit too high for me,they feel slightly sticky plus the pizzz + click sound isn't as mellow as the D & G strings. so a couple of days ago i stuck the Innovation S/Silver E + A strings on my bass & now i'm a very happy camper as i now have a pretty even tension set of strings that all sound very much alike with the added bonus that my bass is a lot nicer/easier to play, result.

Congrats on your beautiful bass matey it is gorgeous as all of Alphers basses are (i have s/n 003) & the guys are absolutley fantastic to deal with. Enjoy
Mine does, except at the rear for the wheels.
Ah thats ok then mine is exactly the same, thank you
-
The cover was about £48 delivered from Roqsolid. I agree, its not cheap, but it IS padded very well.
hows the fit of your cover, mine seems slightly too long it touches the floor at the front & sides. Not sure if it is meant to be that way,
