1.
Is the other guitarist also the singer in the band by any chance?
yes indeed he is,his wife comes to most gigs & seems to have appointed herself as musical director. Naturally all she wants to hear is hubby.
2. Thanks for all the replis guys You are of course spot on with all you say & it would seem i am a reasonable chap after all The guitarists egos are certainly the problem as even though the gig was a total racket both of them thought it was good & don't see what the problem is ! Its pretty unbelieveable really, neither of them actually listen to the band as a whole but just to themselves which is pretty sad really considering how long they have been playing. I do feel a little awkward though as the lead guitarist is in fact my older brother, who actually complains to me about the volume of the rhythm guitar but won't say anything to the player or back me up if i say anything.
3.
When i have been in this situation before I turned my bass way way way down and left the band stranded having no option but to also turn down to hear the bass. Lower volumes in small venue always works so much better anyway ...you never know they might learn something here!
you know that is an excellent idea,i may do just that at the next gig Cheers.
4. Thanks guys Clarky - even the landlady complained about the volume level, my missus was watching & said it was the loudest we have ever been, almost to painfull infact. I have considered a mag' pickup in the past but i like the way my bass sounds with the piezo & clicky setup whereas a mag' would most likley just sound like a mega P bass.
5. They will just not learn, for the past two years i have tried to get them to control their volume levels but alas they will not learn. We are a small three piece rockabilly/country band with two guitars & me on DB,so we have no need to play at high volume. However at last saturdays gig in a very small venue i had to have my 600w Genz rig cranked to 3/4 volume just to keep up,bloody rediculous. Of course that left me fighting feedback all night long which of course meant i ended up with a really sh*te sound. I've tried explaining things to them but it seems once a guitar is strapped on some people just become utterly selfish twats. I have given them the next two gigs to sort it out or i leave the band, they think i am being unreasonable am i ?
6. Just done a trade deal with Carlos, what a fantastic guy do deal with,as others have said perfect communication & just no hassle at all. Deal with the utmost confidence as you will not find a more honest guy anywhere. My bass arrived packaged to survive a nuclear war,it took me five minutes just to unwrap it
7.
Bought a bass off Neil. Exceptional packaging, very quick shipment, and he went the extra mile (with significant extra cost for him) so that I could receive it asap. As with all good deals, communication was easy, efficient and pleasant from the get go. Perfect basschatter!! Thanks Neil!
thanks Carlos,it was a real pleasure dealing with your good self.
8. Good call Bilbo. Infact any of the first three Rainbow albums would qualify for me.
9.
Not sure if you can get a blue HB
lol
10. I ended up booking this with Interparcel, pretty good price & fast too, collection today guaranteed deliverey to Barcalona tomorrow.
11. this little beauty is now sold & going to sunny Spain, the lucky thing i wish i was going with it
12. Nice one guys many thanks. Thanks for the packaging advice too greatly appreciated. Hopefully my Alpher will be heading to Spain soon
13. hi,i may be shipping my Alpher bass to Spain but am uncertain of the best way to do this. which courier would you reccomend & were can i get some really strong packaging ? my bass would have to go fully insured too,i have it for sale on here at £1500.00
14. I'm much happier now that i am an old bastard & have now stopped over playing everything,as young players tend to do. Keep it simple & tasteful works every time for me these days.
15. Thanks guys I may just give it a go,although i'd have to buy the HB first but they are cheap enough. It would make transporting my gear much easier & totally cure any feedback issues too. If it works as well for me as you say i may even sell the DB & just use the HB instead. (did i just say that --shame on me )
16.
That could very well be BC's Happy Jack.
in which case he's a top bloke
17. One good gear sharing experience i had was when we played a party for a friend a few years back along with another band called "the junk yard dogs". They had been on before us & were pretty good too, just a few songs into our set my GK speaker decided to fry itself mid song. The "dogs" bass player came to the rescue by immediately jumping onto the stage & plugging me into his Ashdown rig. What a top bloke !
18. Trade option added kind of bump
19.
I did a gig supporting Wilco and NWR wouldn't let me use his rig, ah what the hell, I still got his autograph and my pic taken with him and he's still a hero of mine! Just would love to have played through the legends rig!!
the miserable old git ! We supported them 3 times in total & they always used our backline Lol Norman is a really nice bloke though,i had a really good natter with him each time although he didn't offer to pay anything towards my new speaker when i mentioned it at the next gig. Mind he didn't mess with my amp after i'd set it up either.
20.
This is a stupid price for a beautiful Bass. Played one of these at Chris's, First class workman ship .someone is going to be very happy with this,
thanks Richardd It is indeed a beautiful bass of outstanding quality & i am gutted that it has to go,but alas i have no choice At this price i think it is one of the best buys on here,if not the best buy.
21.
Perhaps he was following Watt Roy's example . . . some people like to emulate their heroes, right?
lol
22. I too will never let anyone use my gear as i had the same thing as the OP when we supported Wilco Johnson at Fibbers in York a few years ago. I explained to a certain mr Norman Watt Roy that the head put out more power than the cab could take so be careful ! When we packed our gear down after the gig i noticed that both gain & master volume were both up full ! Speaker shagged i had to pay for the repair cheers Norman
23. most likely a silly question but would it work ? i was thinking of using a Palatino/Harley Benton EUB putting a Bassmax & clicky (my Rockabilly Pro system) on it & stringing it with some silver slaps or similar what do you think, would it work ok ? i was thinking it may be ok for smaller gigs where there is bugger all room for us to set up.
24. bump for silly new price. its a bargain now, almost half price. i can't possibly sell it for any less than this so come on & buy it this is a fantastic bass for what is now silly money
