I finally managed to spend more time on the NX2 212 yesterday. I doubt it will get much action with the band until I get a new car in February, but hopefully the guitarist won't mind me putting it on his backseat. I'll wait for the cover first. Anyway, I am super impressed. Even for £750 I'd be impressed. Superb build quality, nice throaty clear bass tone, plenty of punchy, EQ's very easily, nice tweeter (not 'plastic' or brittle sounding), very light, nice small form factor. I can't wait to hear it with a band setup.
i've gigged mine twice now playing DB in my Rockabilly band & am very impressed,my bass sounds so much clearer with loads more punch than my Roland combo had & its really nice to hear all the glassware rattling every time i hit a note

I run the K&K Rockabilly Plus, which is a Bassmax with clicky into a small 2 channel preamp/mixer then to a Pro Plat, into my Genz rig. (Shuttle 6.2 & NX2-212T). Very good sounding setup & plenty of power for my rockabilly band. The Shuttle has a very useful e.q. so i am sure i don't really need the Fishman but its nice to have its features to hand.
The NX2-212T seems now in stock at Bass Direct for £399.
thats just great i bought my rig from there just over a week ago & now the same rig is £150 cheaper
-
at last nights gig i set my new rig up just the same as i did at my last gig but for some reason my tuner wouldn't work correctly when used from the tuner out jack on my Shuttle 6.2. every time i tried using it the needle just shot to the far right of the on screen scale,i tried different leads but this made no difference at all. when i plugged directly into the tuner it worked fine. so is m head faulty ? have i set something up wrong ? am i a tit ?
Mine has ragged where the wheels are but it sounds like they have altered them, that's why roqsolid are great! My ragged cover is less annoying than you lot paying about £400 less than i did for the old version
i hear ya
life sure is tough some times. Did you by any chance compare the Bergantino CN212 with the Genz Benz when you were at Bass Direct?
i didn't go to the shop i bought online & thought i got a good deal, mind i love the rig to bits so i'm not too bothered.
Very wise! I've just thought of something, we could potentially group order a load of NX2 212T covers from Roqsolid...they are about £50.00 normally.
but i already bought a cover for mine & i paid a lot more for mine rig from Bass Direct Boo hoo its not fair Oh well bollocks
Trust me. Do whatever you can, whack it on a 0% credit card...its worth it.
+1 i just stuck mine on my barclaycard & mighty pleased with it i am,stuff the interest
Good news, though, for those of us who have never owned any GB gear but always wanted some!
indeed it is
-
I just bought a GB rig from Bass Direct but it wasn't as cheap as GAK but it was in stock & arrived next day, bloody ace it is too.
-
I was considering the same thing but in the end i just bought a GB shuttle 6.2 & mighty pleased with it i am.
No stock in their warehouse yet. They are on their way, apparently. If I don't get one I'll get an Uber 115 stack. Update - Found out they are available to order. As in you order, they will get one in and not charge until it is sent out.
damn i could have saved myself a few quid there then i bought mine from Bass Direct for a fair bit more than that.
-
This is a big hint. Check GAK's website for the Genz NX2 212T.
do they actually have any stock of these, when i phoned they didn't & couldn't give me a delivery time.

Glad you like it Luke,i always thought it was a cracking amp'. Isn't strange how Roland bass amps don't get much love but are infact superb, that is the best combo i have ever heard.

I guess some MIA Fenders are made with MIM bodies then because my Jazz Definately had the holes & bought it new. Nice one Fender !

I'm selling my beloved Roland due to me buying a bigger rig & not having enough room to be able to keep this little beauty. Its in mint condition with no marks or damage anywhere apart from a small bit of plastic missing on the rear tuner socket nut which doesn't affect anything & certainly doesn't affect the performance of this remarkable amp. In full perfect working order,no faults whatsoever. 400Watt power rating bi-amp,320w to the two Neo' 10" woofers & 80w to the variable tweeter.(like a Galien Krueger amp) The controls give a very wide selection of tones, from old school thud to sparkling sizzling slap tones available & very easy to use it is too. Here's the full spec' from Roland's site http://www.roland.co...aspx?p=688&c=58 I have gigged this amp (with bass guitar & double bass) for the last 4 years & it has been absolutely fantastic for both, all the power i have ever needed with brilliant tone, plus its pretty light so easy to carry or if you are feeling particularly lazy it has removable casters so you can wheel it around. Also included are the original owners manual & a mint condition Roqsolid cover. These cost a small fortune when new so at this price it is a giveaway, but i need the room so need to move it along. Cash only please (as the last rotter who bought my Esh bass from me decided to let me pay all of the paypal fees, despite me dropping the price) or paypal gift if you like. Sorry i can't post this so its collection only although i may drive a small way to meet you if that helps. will post some photo's if req' cheers
That sounds very cool! How long did you wait for the bass to finish from the day of payment to the day you got the bass? Any sound clips by any chance? Or is there a thread anywhere of your build diary?
ah well i was very lucky there as my bass was already built before i even thought about it I had taken another bass through for some work to be carried out,Chris let my play his demo models & i just had to have this bass,it was a eureka moment for me. Alpher did a couple of things to bring the bass up to their latest specs & refinished the bass for me. I couldn't be happier with it. Sorry i don't have any way to record a sound clip but rest assured this bass has serious punch. Its pretty heavy due to the wood used but i do like a nice solid bass,to me feather light basses sound light. At last Sundays gig another bands bass player was raving to me about how great my tone was, cool.

Have all the expensive basses been a waste of time?
Tools for the job, no matter how many different basses are out there, all I need is a Precision. I`d far prefer to have one that feels right in my hands - and am lucky enough to have found "The One" - but for the sound I need, I could get by on any Precision.
fine if you like Precision basses but personally they bore me to tears,i used to be a Fender fan but no more. -
Amen Artisan! I have them on Facebook, I was discussing a custom neck with them before for my current bass. Chris is a very knowledgeable guy too!
good man I can't say enough good things about my Alpher,i just bloody well love it It has a Wenge neck too - i always liked a nice bit of Wenge. Alpher are awesome to deal with too, highly reccommeded.

How about my Roland D-bass 210 combo ? I will be listing it in the for sale section very shorty. Its a pro spec 400watt unit which can produce just about any tone you want & it is loud/punchy as hell, you will certainly be heard using this. I have gigged it for just over 4 years & it has been brilliant, pretty light too plus it has quick release caster too,so it you are feeling lazy you can just wheel it around. Yours for a paltry £250 including Roqsolid cover. P.s. I would only sell through bssschat to make sure they get their fee
I once owned a Corvette many moons ago, tone was thick and very growly! The neck wasn't thin but it wasn't chunky for me, but it did feel very, very nice! I'm now thinking of looking for Warwick alternatives! Anyone kunow of any similar sounding basses? I'm specifically looking for that growly tone that the Wicks produce Probably go custom from a luthier using exotic body woods will maybe work out the same as a standard mass production bass?
check out Alpher instruments,a search on here will bring a few basses up mine included. I have owned three Warwicks in the past & my Alpher kind of reminds me of them only much better. Plus a sexy custom from these guys is cheaper than a stock Warwick.
