1. HI again folks In order to move things along, I'll end the poll this Saturday and begin a new poll on venues. Hope your next gig's a good'n T
2. funny this comes up there is another thread about pete cornish cables around here at the mo. The op used cornish's cables to replace a set of planet waves and found a marked improvement. wonder if there's a connection ? T
3. when was the last time you were up that way Pete ? T
4. You've beat me to this one as I meant to bring this topic up myself. The topic of high end expensive sound systems came up the other night and a buddy mentioned that some people use mains purifiers for their systems. Apparently it does even out the fluctuations of the mains power supply, producing a better sound. Never heard of it being used for the kind of bass amps we use, but I did wonder if it would be worth trying out. I did read on another thread that someone protected their rig with an RCD and surge protected four way blocks, but that's a bit off the op's topic really. Watching with interest T
5. that's well worth knowing hamster cheers for the heads up T
6. Ouch ! I use humbrol enamel paint to seal paint gaps, which prevents moisture from getting under the existing paint finish layers, which can cause a bubble. T
7.
It's a TC RH450 head into a Tecamp S212 (4 ohm). I have an EBS Octabass in line which I find pretty useful for some things at the moment.
lightweight and powerful = winning combination nice one on the wembley gig ! cheers T
8. another bump A couple of weeks ago I'd have snatched this off you, but grabbed something else instead. If only it had come along a little earlier. ah well T
9. Once more into the breach with this topic lads and ladetts Has anyone done controlled testing with cables ? i.e. keep the rig identicle (inc guitar settings) but change only the cables, compare different brands, lengths, etc using several different listeners then compare notes etc then compare with passive and active basses Could also check with oscilloscope to compare frequency conduction over cable length of different brands Or is this too scientific ? perhaps could do this at a bash ? T
10. 16. Big country by Big country - this led on to look away and chance, also by big country forgot what a class band they were, with bass lines I would like to have written myself. does anyone else agree with me on this one ? T
17. I found bi-amping to be helpful with this problem, higher frequencies one amp, low the other. Have the higher frequency cab set on top of the low one so that higher frequencies are at chest/head level. Not perfect, but it made life a little easier T
18. went to the workshop last year. They stock tons of bits and pieces and at that time, made pickups to requested spec, if that's what you want. Read really good reviews too. just my 2p's worth T
19. Hi everyone I've added an option to the poll 'any of these months are good' T
20. Hi folks Would you please vote for the month that would suit you best for this event. I could have done this a while ago, but got distracted with other issues TBH. For now, I'm would like to get this event off the ground and suggest to everyone that for this year, we adopt the 'keep it simple option' suggested by some good people here. The general consensus seems to be just one or two rooms for this year. Is that ok for now everyone ? I began a while ago with the idea of organising an event that would suit the majority of people, with the aid of some excellent feedback from previous events. This kind of thing, while well intentioned, has proved to be too complex to organise in the very short term and is perhaps better organised over a longer time period. For anyone that has got fed up, felt ignored at all or in other ways felt dissappointed with the things so far on this project, please accept my apologies. I hope this all works out soon T
21. Mostly. Currently in the process of transferring it to fretless. Success rate is improving, but not completely there yet. THought about this topic for a bit recently - good one. T
