1. Just practice it over and over with your fingers, like others have said starting slow is a good way to build up your skill and confidence. This is a really cool rhythm that I like to play a lot, you'll have loads of fun once you've mastered it!
2.
Great stuff, you just need to find an Engineer who will work on a bass tone now, try introducing a mixed 2 ch of mic up up cab and di mixed unless the warm dull organ pedal tones is the sound you were after. Many recording buffs want the bass done in 1 take straight in the desk, line 6 pod effect compressor on and done. In the good old days they worked at it a bit, hence famous players had distinctive tones. Stand out ! On styles, Rublux meets foo fighters ? Who are Rubylux ? wake up...
The bass was actually the engineer/producer's 73 P recorded off a DI and a mic'd ampeg amp+cab, I personally think the tone is quite beefy and suits the rocky feel of the song but I guess everyone has different preferences when it comes to sound otherwise the world would be a very boring place!
3. Here are our June tour dates, hopefully some of you that enjoyed the video can make it along
4. Thanks guys it really means a lot to get compliments from musically-minded people! We filmed the music video in an abandoned house just outside of glasgow which was really cool, we just blasted the song for a couple of hours and rocked out! We're touring the UK at the start of June, I'll put the dates in this thread when it's all confirmed and hopefully some of you will make it along and check us out live!!!! Thanks again.
5. Thanks for listening guys, glad you like it!
6. Great fun to film, let me know what you guys think! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BhPsB9lSmU
7. I get away with a OBD-3 a DS-1 and a tuner, I do have a wah wah and a synth pedal that I keep at home though... silly noises galore!
8. I've been really unimaginative....
9. Gig was really embarrassing, I think a good drummer makes all the difference. The guys in the band I was playing for thought it was really good though, maybe my standards are too high and I'm a musical snob?
10. I'm depping for an originals band on thursday night. I've seen them play before and wasn't really impressed with their rhythm section. Practice tomorrow so I'll see if it was the drummer or the bass player that was holding them back, not looking forward to it as I've been playing with the same drummer in my main band since we were 13!!! I'll report back tomorrow.
11. We are very image concious as a band and we make an effort to put on an exciting show for the audience and for us aswell. I can't imagine going to see four guys standing still and the crowd going nuts.
12. @McNach The pot was damaged so I replaced it with a status one (the only company I could find that make 100k/100k stacked pot). Some dogey soldering later and it works but doesn't sound as good (to my ears) as the original. Only ever really play my Fender Jazz now though so it's not the end of the world.
13. I've got the older, cheaper version in a funky blue with a pearloid pickguard and pearl blocks on a rosewood neck. Very showy and very bright sounding but I dropped it and f***ed up the stacked bass/treble EQ knob so is now stuck at a default treble boost which makes it hard to use.
14. Gold hardware is a dealbreaker for me, chrome or black all the way
