1. Is it the low mids or the higher mids that are causing the problem ? or is it the higher end of the lower frequencies ? Have a look at the Markbass Sa450 manual (downloadable) for a nice discussion of the mids and lows topic. T
2. Here's some good'ns T
3.
I don't think age is a critical factor, really. If you look right standing still then you'll look right moving about. In that eBay ad I would say the gentleman in question is a bit on the portly side for a rock star, but mostly it's that nobody should put their foot on a monitor at waist height, it just looks like a warm-up exercise.
The walrus of love ? portly ? How many ageing rock stars have a spare tyre around the middle ? T
4.
I believe that when you're playing in front of an audience, you owe it to them to put on a show, or at the very least look like you're enjoying the gig even if you really aren't, after all, it's showbiz isn't it? Even if it's only down the local pub, it's still a live gig, and people have taken time out of thier day to come and watch you. I've always hated bands that stand motionless staring at thier feet looking miserable, I really hate that. So my vote is for showing off, every time.
+1 to showmanship, after all, the band is there to entertain. The chap on the other thread is mild compared to some over the years i.e. Funkadelic, the glam era (which was great for showmanship) etc. Not to mention Hollywood !! T
5.
Which thread?
Thread = The bass or the bassist ? posted by annoying twit. The link to the e -bay auction in question is below. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ibanez-BTB-07-LTD-Ba...=item20b234d9d9 T
6.
Totally Subjective:
I agree with that theory. However, on the other thread everyone practically rushed to call one chap every derivative of a pr*t, which speaks of some common opinion. By the way, the other thread was for someone selling a bass on e-bay, giving pictures of him holding said instrument while posing on stage. T
7. There has been some discussion on another thread about someone looking an utter plonker (or words to that effect) on stage. That got me curious as to how people recognise or decide when; - someone is using the art of showmanship - When someone is acting or looking the Pr*t Do the criteria change from era to era ? genre to genre ? Is it an age thing (as when you see the aged rocker in skin tight leathers with thinning long hair) I'm curious, what do you think ? T
8.
I started playing on the guitar version of this - bloody awful!! Very high action, you couldn't set the intonation & the bridge height adjustment screws were just in the right position to cut your hand to shreds... & they did!! Horrible things - it's a wonder I carried on playing.
I'd corroborate this. I remember Jedsons as being firmly in the same camp that the cheaper Columbus models occupied, in fact, some Columbus models were better than the Jedsons ! Usually brings back memories of Audition guitars - the Woolworths brand. Both Jedson and Audition did cut your fingers to shreds - Picato or Monopole strings were an upgrade ! T
9. Go and do what you do Sarah, in just the way you've done it before Come back and tell us all about the new experience in your musical career T
10. For a whole discussion of grounding, mothods of doing the job, materials etc go to GuitarNuts.com The site is based around strats and Telecasters i.e single coil pickups, with lots of alternative wiring diagrams for those guitars as well graphite shielding paint is available from e -bay T

12. I've gigged a streamer stage 2 that had this damage and had been repaired. It was rock solid and gave no trouble at all. There is hope for this one, despair Ye not. T
13. Have you tried the Roadworn basses ? they're as alive as a wriggling bucket of eels T
14. Thanks Neil, that Precision has a good home here. It's never easy to find that 'right' Precision, but this is the one alright. As Borat would say, s'nice !! Thanks for the cup(s) of tea mate, I really needed that after that journey in the heat yesterday. I felt dry- roasted by the time I got back. Jake's a lovely puppy !! warmest welcome anywhere, bless 'im. If you're down this way any time, drop in and we'll go for a beer cheers Tom
15. Just travelled up to Neil to pick up a Roadworn Precision. Got a great welcome from Neil and Jake and spent some time discussing this an' that. Neil also picked up a new toy today (your secret to tell Neil), so we were both very happy bunnies indeed I'd recommend Neil any time of day, good to deal with, no problem at all. By the way Neil, I won't tell if you won't cheers Tom
16. Just bought a Yamaha Bex bass from John. When it arrived, both the bass and the case it came in were in better condition than I hoped for. A nice surprise indeed. John was even patient enough to wait for the money to come through over more than a few weeks, including all the things that come along in the meanwhile. Sound bloke, no hesitation recommending John as a reliable man to deal with. cheers Tom
17. Just got a different bass from John, in great condition and he made it easy for me to do the deal too. You can buy with confidence from this man, sound as a pound. Have a bump on me T
18. I'll stand up for those Peavey amps - they really do deliver the goods and have a rep for being practically bomb proof. I use one regularly and it's never failed to please. Highly recommended T

20.
Congrats on the sale mate! Was sorely tempted to buy this, but was umming and ahhing over whether or not I actually NEEDED that much power (which I really don't). Glad someone else has come and got it to make up my mind for me
thanks for the kind words. Wish I had more rigs like this as I could have sold this one a few times over. all the best T
21. Welcome Haven't heard of the rees before, but if you're interested in buying British there's also Everson guitars, which have earned some good reports. Certainly worth a look cheers T
