Luckily none of my bass equipment was damaged but it led to the discovery of my secret stash of bass guitars by Mrs Tazza. So not only have I not got a hiding place anymore I now also need to divest myself of quite a few basses & find the money to get the boiler replaced (that's the central heating boiler – not Mrs Tazza) or else find somewhere else to live. As I'm quite fond of the current Mrs Tazza I need to comply pretty sharpish especially as she has now decided that my music room (aka the garage) is to be converted into an extended kitchen (I don't know why because thankfully she rarely cooks*). This is where you, my bass playing brethren, can help.     I've just bought a Fender MIM Precision from Russ. He was a pleasure to deal with throughout the transaction, the bass was as he described (actually I think it was better than he described) & was very well packed up.     I've just bought a GLX Octave pedal from Gary. He has been an absolute pleasure to deal with throughout, the pedal is exactly as described & very well packaged up. I'd have no hesitation in recommending Gary to anyone.

(So many jokes, so little time!) If you try this and you find your fingers coming back to your face, your using too much pressure! [/quote] One thing to try & avoid is puffing your cheeks out, which is where the muscle tone referred to above comes in (yes I know you see some trumpet players who look like bullfrogs when they're playing but they are pretty unique talents). The work needs to be done by the lungs coupled with a good embrochure - this will give a good technique. To be honest I wouldn't just "blow" with the mouthpiece alone as the pressure is not like the full instrument & you won't really be able to tell whether you are getting near to playing something musical.
