1. Is that a compensated nut and zero fret on the Ray models?
2. I oould be up for this as long as I have someone to share the drive/petrol as I get bored driving the long way down there. I've just endured the drive from Southport to Falkirk this weekend. Pretty easy/dull stuff. I could bring the Gold Warmoth, Genz Shuttle & Schroeder 1212L if anyone's interested.
3. I used to use coloured stings cos they looked cool and for no other reason. I had black DRs on my Thunderbird, red ones on my Geddy and 6 different colours on my Yamaha TRB6. My overall impression of them is that they are nothing more than cool looking. They are very draggy when playing with them and slow you down totally. Rough as hell and last no longer than other strings
4. Noooooooooooooooooo I'm wearing slippers right now. However I am still rock and roll in that i am absolutely out of my tits on red wine.
5. its always nice to be nice. I don't particularly like F basses either so its good to be able to go with a reputable alternative that floats your boat.
6. nowhere near edinburgh but I can set up your bass. I gave up on music shops years ago and set about setting up my own basses. I may be going through to Edinburgh today but if not could setup your bass for the cost of my train fare and lots of coffee.
7.
Like I said, I'm happy for you that you're building something to your specs as that's always nice to see, and have I at any point said "stop, it's a bad idea"? I don't think so, but you very much came across as trying to sell us something in the OP. I still think you've not given all the variables enough thought though. I do hope it comes together for you though. As to the rest of you who are trying to comdemn those members who are challenging the idea, I'd much rather be told my idea is flawed and has a good chance of turning out to not be what I'm expecting, along with the area's I need to rethink, than to be slapped on the back by a load of yes men who really wouldn't give two shits if it ended up being useless and costing me a fair bit of dosh and time. Shame on you methinks.
The problem is not whether or not it will work it is all to do with the tone of what you are saying. It has nothing to do with challenging the idea. Groups of people who challenge ideas are generally called teams and can come up with great ideas if the original one has flaws. You really need to think about how you word things-if I were to hear this spoken face to face in the tone that it looks like, I would be telling you where to get off cos you sound just like you're looking for an arguement. I am well known for not being a 'yes' man
8. I always like to read about something new and different that could be coming our way soon. Its just a pity when certain members have trouble conveying their feelings in a respectful manner but would rather shoot something down in flames and make out that they are full of sh*t. Shame on you.
9. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
10. Publication date is next year - you writing the book? You are the book? Be the book?
11. it looks sh*t what a pile of crap etc
12. You can;t go wrong with the compact trace cabs such as the 1x15" and 2x10". Go together to form a nice compact stack
13. It really does help to read the whole question. I was in solid state amp mode. my bad
14. been checking the website every couple of weeks and noticed no that its available to buy http://www.stageclix.com/Products The bad news is that because the Euro is so bad right now, its coming in awfully close to the £500mark That's an onion in the ointment
15. Trace combos run at 8 ohms on their own so adding an 8 ohm cab such as this one will drop the impedence to 4 ohms so you'll get all the power from the amp If its a 130w head, you're probably only getting maybe 80 watts as it is but adding the second cab will unleash the full 130 watts
16. I got the primer, paint and laquer from Halfords. Just the usual spray cans
17. If all the drivers are equal then there shouldn't be any difference sound wise between the 8 ohm and 4 ohm cabs. I use a 4 ohm cab so that I can get the full potential out of the amp - others may have 2 8 ohm cabs to do this.
18. You can get Hartke rack ears for £25. I had the HA5500 and rack mounted it in a Thomann rackbag for much cheapness. I managed to bag a set of rack ears free direct from the Uk distributor that had been used on one of the amps that Jack Bruce used for the Cream reunion gigs I think Thomann do the ears as well. When you take the amp out of the sleeve, you'll see 2 screw holes on each side of the amp top and bottom, that's where they connect
19. Now sold and on its way back to its original owner
20. Tale the bass to a place that mixes automotive paint and get them to make you a touch up pen. They'll be able to match it to the colour of the bass. Once properly hardened, a light going over with rubbing compound should blend it in.
21. Have you tried joining the musician's union? 2 of our band members are members.
22. And I have a 5 string one for sale at £600 + postage
23.
Sleep posting?
No - just utterly sh*t faced
24.
i think they run with starved plates and have a battery life of an hour or two, so not ideal, The only gripe is microphonics like if you hit the bass or play really hard you get ringing, i need to think of some kind of way of padding it out to prevent this.
I do both
