1. one for the money, two for the show, three to get ready, etc etc
2. Yip, mine are dead as fried chicken and my new Optimas haven't arrived in time for tonight's gig. I only bought them as they were all my local shop had at short notice. Give them a week or 2 and they'll go from zingy to sounding like someone has a pillow held against your strings
3. You can use a shuttle with just headphones and no speaker connected
4. I had one of the compact 15" cabs and replaced the standard 200w Celestion speaker with a 300w one. I didn't really make it any louder but eliminated the slight distortion I was getting by over driving the original one. The 4x10" cabs have 32 ohm drivers if i remember correctly - in fact someone posted a link here somewhere about a company selling the original spec drivers which might help if yours are past it.
5. I was actually thinking about this the other night. I still intend to buy a all valve amp in the future and was thinking about what I would like one to be like. I would really like something smaller and lighter than normal if that's possible. Simple controls. I like a tuner out so that i can mute the sound onstage to tune up. Something that i can bias myself. About 400w. I would have to agree about keeping it black - crazy colour schemes are all the rage but I for one am not a fan of orange or yellow - they are not manly colours. A retro logo like White or Matamp had would be cool.
6. The whole point of Jon Anderson's lyrics are not that they make sense or tell a story, they simply fit into the song. I'd have to agree about CS getting 'his' sound on any bass. I can a get a similar sound on my gold bass but never could on an actual Ric
7. I absolutely love Larry and GCS. The whole reason I slap the way I do. None of your Mark King 24th Fret widdly widdly widdly widdly bits. Always just behind the pickup.YOu can totally vary the sound from there
8. I'd jump at the chance to play in a Genesis tribute band, especially that era with Peter gabriel.
9. Fantastic. I love Stanley and Lenny together. Kind of back to the Return to Forever days but more modern if you catch my drift. I love Stanley's DB work
10.
build your own schroeder?
Possibly :brow:
11. Flea used to use the DOD Envelope Filter. There's a shot of it on his video with River Pheonix. I had one but couldn't get anything usable out of it
12.
Smoke some drugs.
Exactamundo. I find that if I am lacking, I see what other people are listening to. Watch someone like Bill Dickens . I'll never play anything like it but I laugh my ass off listening to it cosits so damn fast. Get on Youtube. I can spend days on there listening to stuff. I could begin with Stanley Clarke and end up at Bon Scott era AC/DC
13. You need to get out more I have a cunning plan when I find out
14. I've got one of the little behringer ones for sale in the other items section. I've not bumped it for a while but its in there somewhere. Its one of these ones http://www.technokit.co.uk/proddetail.php?...;source=froogle
15.
I was looking for something like a suitcase on wheels that can fit both of those things and I can just wheel it behind me which would make it easier during rush-hour on the Tube. Cheers Jack
Er, have you thought about getting a suitcase on wheels? One of the hard ABS or whatever they're made of ones. You'll get the usual 'you going on holiday after the gig?' comments from your bandmates but it'll make things easier. I used one briefly but it was cheap pish and I snapped the handle off it.
16. I believe its the same except the 'a' model is in the sleeve and the non 'a' model has to be rack mounted. The 'a' model can still be removed and rack mounted provided you buy the rack ears. I had the HA5500 which is the higher powered version of this amp Have you seen the megathread on here about the LH500? more power and less fiddly buttons and stuff.
17. Out of interest, is there a sticker on the back of the driver that tells you the manufacturer & model number? Assuming that it is an off the shelf driver. Always wondered what was in these. I think that they are Eminence drivers but could be wrong.
18. I use a Genz Shuttle 6.0 and Schroeder 1212L for everything - whether as a monitor or for my out front sound. Light as a feather and in and out of a gig in one trip. Doesn't stop me wanting a Marshall VBA400 and one of Alex' Vintage cabs though!
19. What does a guy with a 2 foot cock have for breakfast? this morning I had a boiled egg Boom Boom. I thank you
20. hernia, bad back, osteopath etc I've got deja vu. Have I said that before?
21. I bought a Midnight blue Rickenbacker from the Glasgow shop a couple of years ago. About a month later it developed the famous running paint problem which effectively turned the binding on the neck pale blue. i went back and they refunded me the full cost of the bass no questions asked as they never had any other colours in stock at the time.
22. One thing I found out the other week is that wearing ear plugs causes your ears to produce wax as they effectively have a foreign body inserted into them and so do this to protect themselves. This will result in the occasional trip to the nurse to get them syringed but at least you're saving your hearing. I've only had mine done a couple of times but it is absolutely amazing how much you can hear immediately after having them done
23. if i don't have my fan pointed at my fingers, I have to lick them every so often but immediately wipe them on my trousers to dry them. I do it when my fingers feel sticky. Jaco used chicken grease etc etc etc
24. Have you tried changing the valve in the preamp? that can make a difference as normally you find cheaper tubes in there. Also, you can rack mount your amp.You just need a set of rack ears. there are 2 screws on each side of the amp that you just undo and it will slip out of the sleeve.
25. If only I had the cash. I gigged an SB305 nearly every week for 5 years and only sold it a couple of years ago. One of the finest 5 strings i have ever played. Really good sound in the studio as well. Fantastic tight B as well.
