Good seller and I've seen the bass up close and it looks absolutely stunning.
I have a confession to make - when you came round for the Hartke combo I was still very, very drunk from the night before. I'm talking legendary drunkness.
2.
Those FretFX LED's look the business, I was gonna invest in some myself in the future but didn't know how well they actually fixed to a bass and if they stayed where they're meant to, are they good mate? ...and bump for a nice cracking looking bass
They are fantastic and stick on really well. They look the business when they're on.
3. I seem to remember having one on my Modulus Flea bass and i can vaguely recall the same problem with the post stopping short and being a bit wobbly. I can't recall what I did but I'm sure I managed to fix it somehow.
4. I remember when these were £16 from Thomann and that was only a year or 2 ago. I've used both types and personally, the closest I can find is Ernie Ball Slinkies - not the coated ones (haven't tried them) but the standard nickel ones. Think its the Hybrid set I use. There's a seller on Ebay doing 3 sets for £32 delivered. That's what i am using just now - don't feel rich enough to start spending £25 on a set of strings when i can get 3 sets for slightly more
5. I've just had a good long look at it to check for any damage or marks. The body is perfect - no dings dents, scratches or swirls to be found The neck, considering its about 25 years old is in excellent condition as well with just a few tiny marks on the back and a bit of abrasion at the tip of the headstock. The back of the neck nearest the heel has some red paint on it from when a previous owner glued it to its original CAR body. I've never tried to get this off cos its relatively well hidden
6. mummy One of my favourite basses in my favourite colour
7. We played there last year - one of the loudest gigs we've done Full PA, sound engineer and an SVT II - if only more places were like that
8.
Hello, is the bridge "thru-body" please? thanx
No - its just more substantial than the stock Fender ones
9.
I've been lucky with mine. I've had to do prectically nothing to any of them.
Oooh, a Blue Boy that's actually blue. This was my one I absolutely love the look of these and would love another but the lack of front arm contour and the issue when you want to play over the bridge pickup without the cover fitted put me off. One of these days I'll get myself a 4004
10. Its always a dangerous time when I have a few weeks between gigs - I find myself buying stuff and then selling other stuff. Some of the things I buy never make it to a gig and are, instead, sold beforehand. So it is with little surprise that I am offering my very custom Fender Precision for sale. I could not find anything I liked to I decided to build it from mainly Fender parts. The neck is from a Mid 80s E Series Fender MIJ Precision, The tuners are from a 1978 MIA Fender, The body is from a brand new MIM precision with a date of October 2009 on it. The scratchplate is from WD and is made specifically for MIM Precisions so don't know if it will fit ones made in other factories, the bridge is my favourite Gotoh 201 and its finished off with a Jason Lollar pickup, CTS pots, Switchcraft jack and paper-in-oil cap. I fitted Fretfx LEDs to the side of the neck a few months ago as well. The only thing that would'nt be included is the Star Wars knob. I have the complete collection including the strap so it would be staying with me. For a straight sale I would be looking in the region of £500 but am open to negotiation. If I were to part it out then I would be looking for a buyer for each part before I could split it as I need to make sure that I have enough cash to buy myself a new bass. The individual parts are: Neck £200 Body £100 Tuners £180 Scratchplate £15 Bridge £15 I would be keeping a hold of the pickups and wiring as I plan to get myself another P bass. Maybe not now but at some point. I may try to remove the LEDs but if I can't then I would add £25 onto the price of the neck (half what I paid for them). Again, I'm flexible on price as long as its not rediculous For trades with my bass only I would be interested in quite a few different ones: Yamaha BB3000 or 5000 Ibanez SR506 or SR1016 Fender Musicmaster or Mustang Fender maple fretless precision I currently have my 3 gig old Orange Terror Bass available. i have a few interested parties but nothing solid yet. I would be happy to do a trade with this as well for something like: Musicman Stingray 5 string Warwick $$ 5 string Spector Euro 4 Being absolutely honest I don't have anything in particular that I am after. I tend to be very shallow when buying new stuff inthat if it looks good then I'm interested unless I've had one before and hated it. This also means that I dislike anything with lots of dings and dents. That should be everything covered so fire away if you're interested. If you're after a part then I'll draw up a wee list so that I know who wants what so when I have a new owner for everything then I'll be in touch and we can sort out payment and delivery.
11. If you take the screws out that are holding the amp in and slide the amp out, there should be a sticker with the date of manufacture on it.
12. Wishing Well - Free Billie Jean - MIchael Jackson (lots of OC-2 and flanger on this one) Let me Entertain You - Robbie Williams Radar love - Golden Earring Let there be Love - Nat King Cole You Realy Got Me - Van Halen version A few that I enjoy playing in the house but don't gig: Yes - Siberian Khatru and everything off the Fragile album Thin Lizzy - Chinatown Led Zeppelin - Black Dog Chilis - Sikamikaniko, Parallel Universe, Fela's Cock Iron Maiden - The Trooper, Phantom of the Opera I've been going between Siberian Khatru and Fela's cock as my mobile ringtone for the past 5 years There are actually only a handful of songs that I don't like and would refuse to play. It never ceases to amaze me how many songs that are unbearable to listen to are really good to play. BTW I dislike Robbie with a passion but that song's OK
13. Oooh, me likey a lot.
14.
What the hell is Bumpette???
isn't that a towelette for your bum? I'm loving all this older Trace stuff right now. I'd buy it all if i could Wait, I really should be bumping my own stuff but then again if this sells then it won't tempt me to get in the car and head for Stockport for something that I really would like but really don;t need or have the room for.
15. I've played about with 4, 5, 6, 8, 12 string, fretted and fretless basses over the years. I go from one to another just for the hell of it to see if there is anything I can play differently to improve me as a bass player. Right now I'm thinking about going back to a 6 string. I don't do it according to the music I play or the musicians I play with - i do it for me to help me improve. I would say that unless you are playing stuff that simply must be played below low E then the choice is entirely up to you. Why not try a second hand cheapy first and see how you get on?
16. yip - sold mine for way more than twice as much
17. What a bloody bargain - I'd have this if I had the cash and lived closer to you. These combos are mental loud and sound the bollox as well. So what if its heavy? the sound is definitely worth it and much better IMO than the vast majority of the new lightweight stuff out there.
18. I played 6 string for a while but only had 1 5 string briefly strung E-C The only song I could think off right away to use it for was the chorus of Wishing Well by Free after the key change I found I used the C much more on a 6 string than on that 5
19. fingers 1, 2 & 4 for me too although when I play octaves my middle finger tends to straighten up and it looks like I'm giving the audience 'the bird'. I do get pain sometimes on the fourth knuckle of my top hand
20. I may have made this up but wasn't it Mo Foster that played on this? Him of Minder theme fame
21. Something very interesting has just come up so I'm selling mine
