SOLD DigiTech Valve Pre-amp MultiFx Pedal

Had a cracker of a gig last time we were here - Blues pub but our Dylan/Neil Young/Springsteen repertoire went down a storm. Fingers crossed for a similar result this time! Montgomery Street, Hove - the pub is called Poet's Corner but confusingly at Poet's Corner!
Except in my case it's about making me happy as I write, record and play for myself first and foremost ...
And fair play to you for being that way. I'm personally probably not of an artistic enough bent to appreciate that aspect of it - I'm more of a bit of an old tart of a performer (think Bruce Forsythe rather than Van Gogh)! Both as valid in my book and far more important than the gear etc.
IMO the actual music you play to other people (whether recorded or live) is the most important thing. Practising and gear are simply means to that end.
Wholeheartedly agree - all the gear, practice and technique and even musical style to a certain extent means very little to me if you can't get out there and make some people happy.

Just bought a Peavey Preamp from Steve - great to deal with and was sent very quickly and exceptionally well packaged - he even had the good manners to use plain brown paper to hide the Behringer box used for despatch

You know the whole "matching headstock" thing?
I can only think he's tightened the neck bolts too tight, and it's cut off the air supply.... It'll probably drop off by the time the auction ends.
Priceless! -
SOLD DigiTech Valve Pre-amp MultiFx Pedal

Link to sale in Amp & Cab section - is in that section as was on with another preamp but that one has gone. This has a lovely preamp sound but I don't need the effects side and find tweaking the pre a bit too much of a palaver - old luddite that I am! Re-awakening this thread as it got lost in the mire as I didn't bump it while I was moving then forgot about it. Bought this to go with a Peavey valve pre-amp. It sounded amazing, much better than the Peavey pre I am now using BUT I really can't cope with having to tweak it in a live situation. Bought from Zephead - here's a link to his thread includes 5im0ns very knowledgable views on the compressor! http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry1326046 PSU and manual included Looking close to £100 including post and paypal or trade - SM58 possibly or WHY? I have recently bought a 120w valve power amp from Beedster and have just bought SteveBasshead's Peavey valve preamp. 3U and 1U respectively, but how big should the rack be to allow for air circulation and how many units space between the two? Thanks, Mike

Trouble is (IMO) that with some musical genres the punters lap up the whole "guitar god" thing, and if the guitarist can keep it to just a few "highlights" of the show it can work very well. But yes, I did once walk out of a Santana gig bored rigid by the worst form of OTT soloing.
Read the rider and that is pretty standard. If you sit down for dinner, you'll need to wear a jacket and tie... but since you will not, you go straight to the smart side of being in the club house. You took the gig..sounds reasonable to abide by private members rules, in this case. Definition of jeans is denin..although trousers with poppers and stitch-on pockets should come into this..most don't hold this up. The members are their partners will dress up, so so should you. That is the way it is...
Not too worried about having to do so, and yes, as a band we have just been told no jeans, trainers or t-shirts, it was the no socks think that struck me as totally pompous and archaic Club Captain - didn't know golf (outside Ryder Cup) was a team game

On a commercial level, shouldn't you be looking at a guitar version (or is there already such a thing)? More of them (and more likely to not have theknowledge)!
Welcome to the snotty end of Bexhill I'm sure they'd love it if you all turn up in mankinis.
Funnily enough it was your avatar that has led me to thinking about the tux! Think I'll give the pipe a miss though

This is our Saturday gig - playing the rockier side of Dylan, Neil Young, Creedence and some Stones and they tell us this : http://www.coodenbeachgc.com/visitors/dress_code Think I'll dig out the old black tie and tuxedo - should still fit
Or do their mixing in the back of a Saxo...
There was a studio in Brighton that checked mixes in a car in the garage. Was an old Roller so that may have slightly defeated the object of the exercise!

Interesting to see this as a former shop owner. There was a recent thread on here where several BC'ers stated they would not buy an instrument (at least not without it being sold cheaply as ex-demo) if it had been hanging up in a shop and the shop had the temerity to allow other people to play it. Yes, sounds like you had a bad experience, I was like Pete and always let people try stuff, but it seems either way the shop can't win!

I use and like them as they give an extra bit of grunt which I was missing with flats and they don't chew up your fingers like roundwounds. They have started to mark my ebony board after 6 months or so but only surface scratches.

At what weight do you consider a bass to be heavy?
Mykesbass replied to Evil Undead's topic in General Discussion
My Ray5 must weigh a fair bit (over 10lbs easy) but it's not uncomfortable even after a couple of hours, it sits nicely
Said it before, I personally think that a lot is in the balance. My old Aria cut into my shoulder so badly that I sold it for a pathetic amount on Ebay. Its replacement Cort is exactly the same weight according to the bathroom scales and yet I can gig it for a couple of hours with no problems at all. -
Gigging last night was a bit of a squeeze and ended up setting up with the keys directly behind me. Very little room so he put his amp (a small but very pokey Alesis) on top of my Peavey Classic 120 valve power amp (clear of the vents). Half way through the first set, the Peavey coughed and spluttered to a halt. Thought a valve had gone but plugged it all in this afternoon, and ok, nowhere near gig volume, but ran the amp for over an hour with no problem at all. Could the other amp have caused mine to pack up - vibrations, magnetic fields etc? Thanks, Mike

Yep, sure there would be a big market for all those lovely old colours but perhaps this may reduce their custom shop sales.
