1. Free listing this weekend - time for the chancers to try it on perhaps?
2. What chutzpa - £3,000 for an original work of art by an artist that doesn't come up on a google search! Filed down machine heads on a £999 bass instead of a new set and out of date condoms. And by the looks of teh feedback the more expensive items don't sell!
just the way the younger audience will follow the 40 somethings onto the flloor when you're playing young hearts.
You play "Young Hearts" at weddings? As in "What's the use of sharing this one and only life, ending up as someone's lost and lonely wife" Tell me you don't do "Band of Gold" as well?
4.
Good call.. love this tune from that gig:
That is beautiful WoT - thanks for posting.
5.
Weather Report - 8.30
Hate this album but only because I'm the Schmuck who had tickets for the Hammersmith gig on this tour and forgot to go
6. Either this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=If6DYi95UYk or Frank Sinatra "One For My Baby" or for personal reasons Paul Simon "It's Been A Long Day"
7.
Amazing and informative, one of the best doc on a recordiong I've seen I think.
That's pretty much what I was thinking as a layman - nice to hear that someone with your reputation agrees Simon!
8. Nice "Imagine" documentary on BBC1 last night, based on the making of Bridge Over Troubled Water and the 1969 tour. Decent amount of interview time with Joe Osborn, but most interesting was some of the background information on the production techniques. Well worth catching on the IPlayer.
9.
I think the seller means Cornell only made one bass amp model.
He's not exactly a mass-manufacturer, and just thought it might be like a lot of luthiers dip their toe in the bass market only to quickly run screaming to the hills! p.s. original comment was firmly tongue in cheek, I'm sure it is an amazing piece of kit which I thought should be shared on here.
10. Hi Andy, If you do work out a P&P on it and Tuewey1992 doesn't go from it I'll have it. Cheers, Mike
11. How rude of us all - two days and now welcome! So, belated welcome to Basschat Dave! Sounds like some good stuff is going on in your bass playing world.
12. From someone who usually (quietly) sits in the anti-bass solo camp, that was lovely! Very melodic, very original. Great stuff - I may well be a convert
13. I know they are highly rated as guitar amps but does the fact he only made one bass amp tell us something?! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rare-legendary-Valve-Bass-amp-2-cabs-/320788113545?pt=UK_MusicalInstr_Amplifiers_RL&hash=item4ab0762889
14.
It might be easier to get your band on 'come dine with me...' (other shows are also available). ;-) Wil

This.... and Don't tell the Bride.... ;o)
Or James May's Man Lab - anyone see "Love Fungus"? They were way too tight for a band that claimed they hadn't played together for 10 years.
15.
although my Dad seems to be hellbent on telling everyone we got reviewed in the local paper instead of focusing on the bigger things
16. Was thinking about you today - bought Q for the first time in years, and lo and behold, a Case Hardin album review! Good luck with the album and the tour!
17. Jools never used to do the selection, it used to be Mark Cooper. Don't know if it still is - watch the credits and get the names of the producer, exec producer and any researchers you can and plug them. An artist I once worked with manged to get Jools to get him on as a favour as they were big buddies. We at the record company then got a real ear bashing from Cooper saying it wasn't up to Jools who went on the show!! And no, the record companies didn't pay back then although there are sometimes deals where the record companies will pay the session musician fees, but don't think this is the case with Jools.
18. In no particular order: BB King Thrill Has Gone - makes the track move perfectly Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick (Surprised this hasn't already cropped up - usually does) Hazy Shade of Winter - Simon & Garfunkle with Joe Osborn Son of a Preacher - Dusty Springfield with Tommy Cogbill
19.
Check the wholly appropriate bass solo at 4:34. That's the way to do it.
Forgot that I actually really liked this band - never hear them on the radio these days. Only got their albums on vinyl - looks like an Amazon order on the way.
20.
Time to fall pray to GAS contract ends soon though.
Better get on with it then Welcome back.
21. Sorry to hear this. Are "High Value Items" that have to be listed seperately on insurance policies really that low a value these days? Better check my policy.
22. We're going to rehearse a couple tomorrow night ready for a gig on December 23rd (singer's off on holiday for a few weeks hence the early start).
23. Looks like I'me going to have to invest in some foam (I don't think my poor knackered hands will be up to palm muting). I really want to add this tone to my meagre repertoire. Thanks for all the posts - Clarky, you tipped the balance there with the Notts County Linesman
24. That's going to be something to be really proud of once it is all done. I'm full of admiration for you in taking this on as I'm sure many other BC'ers will be!
25. I'm goingf to sound like a REALLY old man here and blame the massive jump in people plugging in to mp3 players/ipods. Safe levels are 85db for long term exposure. Go up 6db and you will start damaging hearing after 2 hours. Crank it to full (ipod about 103db) and the damage will start much sooner. Completely agree with Discreet about cinema - I avoid going as not only do I find it too loud overall but I find the balance can be ridiclous with sfx being ridiculously out of proportion to the rest of the film (and don't get me started on surround sound)
