1. My daughter has started to get into Electro Swing which has led me to digging out some of my Big Band stuff. Got a long train journey tomorrow, think I'll have at least The Atomic Mr Basie on the phone for company! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9wQYuqPH0s
 2.
Lene Lovichs lucky number is actually 2
3.
King Crimson and Deep Purple merged to form Maroon 5.
Not all of Deep Purple mind, a couple of them split and became Simply Red and Blue. Bilbo was the original bass player on Moondance.
 4.
But surely, that would make him ruoferraC ettennogrouF ?
Hoist by my own petard, which was in fact Van/naV/Fourgonnette/ettennogrouF's working title for the "Contractual Obligation" album.
 5. Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde changed the spelling of his surname after being embarrassed by his sister's drunken rendition of "Kids in America"
 6.
Of course, you're right. Although I did say "got the idea for" and at no point did I say "read" so your pedantry appears a little misplaced. However, I will admit to using the rear view mirror idea to purely add a certain artistic dramatisation to enhance the whole crazy idea of Van Morrison being followed by a supermarket delivery vehicle. I hope this clears up the matter.
Thank you for the clarification, good job he wasn't in France at the time as Fourgonnette Carrefour would never have worked!
 7.
Van Morrison actually got the idea for his stage name after seeing a well known supermarket delivery van in his rear view mirror.
Surely that would make him nosirroM naV?
 8. Excellent choice - had a good old noodle on one in Wunjo, top of my list once the gig money comes pouring in
 9. "the most un-British thing you can do with a bass"
 10.
You know I love you really
11. Hope the following doesn't still stand if I say this is absolutely beautiful

Rather sanctimonious and judgemental if I may say

12. Bad form but beaten by the mandolin in the compost bin from an earlier thread. Still, chance to wheel this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0oRGHGyzuM
 13.
Haha, just checked on this thread, zero views in three days. I'm guessing that the words 'Innovative Electronic Midi Content' are universally untempting :-D
Looks like it's time for a new title (unless my thread killing skills have come back to haunt me)
 14. Really interesting, especially the way the whole thing evolves - video 1 is an interesting concept but he could really be making that music in numerous different ways, but by video 3 you get the sense of his body working with the technology, making some pretty unique sounds.
 15. Like this a lot, but can't find a Jeff Buckley version, only his dad's original?
 16. Brilliant work once again everyone! Was torn between two, both with an old and new thing going on - Alibabu's retro tune going against a contemporary track, and Leonard Smalls' funky groove emerging out of an industrial soundscape. Leonard just pipped it in teh end.
 17. Always loved a great pop act - Madness back in the day, Lady Antabellum, Taylor Swift more recently, and was very impressed by Ronan Keating recently (but then he was part of a bit of a special gig). Also love some classical stuff, particularly choral, a lot of Jazz (including some experimental) and a wide range of rock, blues, funk and a modicum of Rap. Hope that stops me from being a musical snob.
 18. Congratulations Rob - a big achievement even to get it out there.
 19.
My Dad died from the same kind of cancer last year, I really really hope Wilko can now put this in the past, my Dad had similar op but wasn't successful, would be soooo great to have someone beat this poxy nasty condition. Bit emotional, sorry.
Every right to be - its 20 years for me with my dad and still hate to hear about it. Great to hear Wilko's news though!
 20.
My personal observation is the average directors wage at most charities is around £800 a day 7 days a week. They never run out of money to pay the board members salaries, so they are not very hard up and my meagre contribution of buying my own fuel and putting in a nights graft wont make much difference and if it does, take a few quid out of the bar takings, the never mention the bar takings do they.
Charity board members are trustees and are not allowed to be paid (apart from bona-fide expenses) under charity commission rules. My chief exec gets around £130 a day, and if you re-calculate it to take out all the holiday he hasn't taken over the last three years it's probably under £120 a day.
 21.
One of the many things I like about the Tribute scene is the punning. Oasish? Green Date? Fleetwood Bac? You've got to love it.
A friend was setting up an Eagles tribute - I suggested Shmeagles which he loved but the rest of the band rejected out of hand
 22.
Rather sanctimonious and judgemental if I may say
Of course you may say, but you're wrong
 23.
What's the problem? You hate hate hate it, but it's alright, it's has no musical integrity but that's not what it's about is it. Jesus! Peeps! Get a grip!
No hate from me just a huge feeling of disappointment that an enormous amount of talent has been wasted by poor treatment of said talent and a great song.
 24.
It's one of my favourite songs begin rant... I watched this BBC auto-tribute earlier...Thankfully, lining up these blink and you'll miss them popstars alongside the venerable greats and getting them to sp**k up the odd line against a horrific, fat headed abortion of a backing track is so anathema to what makes the original a beautiful, delicate, artful thing, it thankfully hasn't tarnished my love of Beach Boys version. But f***ing hell…this is so horrifically overproduced, over thought, over peer-group-researched and broadly inoffensive it makes me ill. And I get the point - It's meant to be a tribute to music and specifically the music that is recorded for and by the BBC, but really, the deficiencies of this recording are so stark when you compare this banal, please-everyone, rendition against the stellar original. I mean…. how can a song so gloriously personal and affecting be sung by different people, line after line…it's such a STUPID idea. Arrrrgh!!! And really, there are hundreds of other songs that would have been more suitable and less annoying. God Only Knows is one of the few songs that never needs to be recorded ever, ever, repeat ever again because the original is PERFECT. rant over Saying that, it's a very pretty visual treatment. But that doesn't make the choice of song any less ball-achingly annoying...
Put in a very different style than I would have done but I can't believe how close you have got to how I felt about this, right down to the visual. What a waste of some enormous talent
 25. Make Me An Offer Bump as I see Bass Gear will be stocking TKS cabs so the GAS is taking over!
