1.
Awesome. I currently work at Pitshill up that way
Here's hoping we can get the London/Brighton leg sorted
 2.
In true relay form, if you can't get someone to do it direct, if anyone can do London to Brighton (I'm just a bit inland) I can then get it to Chichester which is getting close! Would love to see this work - would get involved but have forgotten how to play 4 stringers

West Sussex? If its any help, to you or anyone able to get involved, mon-fri (not Wednesdays though) I work in midhurst/petworth
Yes, if anyone can get it to me (Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath, Brighton) I can get it to Petworth - I work in Fontwell.

 4. Don't forget to try something with P90's while your at it.
 5. Selling my Boss Micro BR Recorder - the 4 track discontinued model. Only used once - bought it as an aid to remembering the set list but then found my short term memory was better than I had imagined Complete with a 1GB SD card - rare as hens teeth and any bigger ones are not compatible. No power supply, but boxed with instruction manual and little posng pouch! Seem to be making between £60 and £80 on ebay so as this is in such good nick and has the SD card I'm looking for the upper end - so £80 posted please. 6. Part of this whole idea strikes me as a little macabre as obviously I wouldn't want to go through what he went through later in life, but would have loved to have spent a few moments in Ronnie Lane's shoes - something about the Faces for me, they just sound like they're having fun and playing like a band should play.
 7.
Is this priced too highly? I'll happily take offers but it is in brand new condition! I'll also include a free Hercules fold-up floor stand and leather-ish suede strap if it sells this month.
No it isn't, but, beginning to sound like a stuck record here, without the major brand on the headstock guitars/basses are that bit harder to sell. I speak from experience as a former shop owner having had a hard time trying to shift excellent brands like Godin. Fret King do also get marked down by dealers quite often (for the same reason) but I'd stick to your guns for a bit longer and just accept that for the person without the usual prejudices looking for a great guitar this is a great deal.
 8. Lovely instruments - their Strats are far superior to any Fender I've ever tried. As for the basses, I only had a quick try of the B1 which is the current cheaper version, I think yours has been replaced by the B2. They do seem to have a thing about see through purple - perhaps it's a Swiss thing! Great second hand buy, as with all these lessr known brands, they don't hold their value as they don't have a recognisable name on the headstock. Congrats on getting such a nice bass!
 9. Here's the link - nothing to do with me, just flagging it up as it looks a nice bass: http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/ibanez-sr700-bass-hardcase-final-reduction/1006809488
 10. Not going to set my sights to the very high level Charic has set, but I am determined to play enough bass between rehearsals/gigs that I don't suffer from lack of callouses and end up with serious right hand blisters if we do two nights on the trot! That and a few vocal lessons.
 11.
Perhaps 'offended clowns!' should be the new catch phrase.... (runs for cover...)
Now that would make a great emoticon! Great work Jimmy, both on the gig and a thread!!
Like looking at Judith Chalmers topless sunbathing ie a nice pair but very orange .
Hope you're not saying that from experience
 13.
. I wouldn't neccesarilly be too put off by the Warmouth thing with the Sur - Warmouth make the bodies for quite a few other manufacturers from time to time -
Reason I raised this was not to knock Suhr but to highlight the better value options with your own, home grown luthier vs a boutique brand. Price up your favourite Warmoth body and neck and that should leave you and said luthier with a fair bit to play with.
 14.
Good grief.. was this recently? I suggested he looks at a Sadowsky metro, surely better than both..
About 6 years ago - a luthier I know had one in to do some set up work on (fabulous guitar) but was quite schocked when he took the neck off to see Warmoth stamps on both neck and body.
 15. Mian advantage to the Fender is that it will hold its value better than the Suhr - far more popular brand that everyone has heard of. If on the other hand, moving the bass on is not a consideration then Suhr's are excellent, although I have seen one of them put together with Warmoth parts. May work out cheaper/better to look at another luthier build.
 16.
I honestly can't remember guys. However, on another note, I've an audition for an established function band tonight. Not been with a function band before so should be interesting. One thing that does strike me as peculiar, is the band want their old bass player present in the audition. I can only assume its to see if I'm similar to the old guy, but surely they'd know that regardless. Any of you lot auditioned for a band but had to get the old bassist's approval?
May make it a little awkward for you but nice for them to have a trusted pair of ears specifically listening to the bass, and listening whilst not playing. As others have said, I think it bodes well for the band that he is leaving in such a mature and professional manner.
 17.
Good god, I hate being out of the loop
Legendary rant in the f/s section, all in block capitals and loads of typo's including calling the forum A WASTE OF TIM. You really had to be there
 18.
Indeed welcome, from a fellow West Sussex-er - Burgess Hill. Plenty to see and do here.
And welcome from another Burgess Hillian - although "Urban" is probably a bit strong for our little town I work in Fontwell so should pop over one lunchtime to see your place. Cheers, Mike
 19. Having started on guitar I thought using a pick on a bass would be quite natural for me. For some strange reason it feels completely alien and I just can't do it at all. If I ever want that tone I have to put thumb and first finger together and use the fingenail. I now find that when I go back to guitar I don't use a pick which I couldn't really do before I started mainly playing bass. Sorry, doesn't help, but I do like your fix!
 20. Fabulous board and the combination of that and a plain black body is gorgeous. Great choice.
 21.
Like it, Nige. I think I get where the original concept came from ( ) but I love what Kit's done with it. Great lyrics too, well worth highlighting.
Think of all those horribly young people who won't have a clue Jack Great song Nige, and lovely take on the old classic video. Good luck with cracking it this year. Mike
 22.
Just opinions i suppose - I thought it was well put together. Garry
I thought they lost it when Allen (Keys) left.......
 23.
I learnt a few chords on guitar at the age of ten, but never pursued it because I just did not think that I would ever be good enough to become a musician. But around five or six years ago in my mid-fifties, I was the physio of a football club, and the players had put together a make-shift band to play at the end of season presentation night, and they needed a bass player, so I volunteered thinking that they would not be that good, and I wont look too out of place just playing root notes with a few little fills here and there. At the first rehearsal, I was shocked to find that they were all decent musicians, with quite a bit of gigging experience behind them, but I couldn't wriggle out of it as they had no one else they could call on. So for the few weeks leading up to the big night, I set about finding tabs and YouTube video's of the SIX songs we were to play. The crowd seemed to like what we played, and I must have been ok'ish, or at least shown some potential, because they decided to form a proper band, and asked if I would be interested in being the bass player. I have now gigged regularly since then with various bands, but I don't know any theory, I don't know any scales or stuff like that, I don't know what they are talking about when they speak in musical terms etc... and I've never had a lesson in my life, but I can learn a song pretty quickly just by listening to it, and working it out myself, or sometimes if it's a difficult bass line, I might look for a tutorial video to help me. I know how to play the original bass line to around 200 songs, although I do like putting my own take on things, but I still don't believe I can class myself as a musician, because I know nothing about music, other that I can remember where my fingers go. So, my question is this: Can I call myself a musician, or do I just have a good memory?
To get this back on track, if you can do this then yes, there must be some inherent musicality in you, and therefore, you are a musician. Also the fact that you want to do it adds to you being one in my opinion.
 24.
Just put it all down to ABBA and Meatballs. He will get over it in time. Garry
And Ikea - their second album was terrible
