1.
If you can raise a bit more cash, I can highly recommend a used Little Bastard 30.
+1 to this.
2. Hi there The three-way impedance selector switch on my JC bass is not in good condition: very stiff and hard to turn. I'd therefore like to get it replaced. I've emailed Epiphone to ask them, but figured I'd seek the comments of the BC brethern too, to see if anyone knows a) what siwtch to use how to wire it! Cheers Gareth
3. I picked up a set of strings from Pierre. Smooth, easy transaction, and I'd be more than happy to deal with him again.
4.
John's a pleasure to deal with and the wiring kits are top notch!
Just installed a second P bass wiring kit and delighted once again with the whole experience. John's the man!
5. I use an LB30 with the LB212 cab. I have also tried it with the LB112. The LB112 sounds great in small rooms, but the 212 moves a lot of air in a decent size venue, plus it just sounds fuller and richer. A wise move I reckon...
6. Contact made via PM, and strings now on their way to me.
7. If you can't find anyone local I'd take the trip up the M3 and see Joe White in Ash Vale. Not cheap but very good.
8. I sold a P Retro to SImon. Instant payment and smooth comms all the way. Recommended!!!
9.
They're D'Addario Helicore Hybrids but they appear to be rather high tension. So when clean I may switch them with something. I'm playing standards so any suggestions?
Hi Dan I have Innovation Silver Slaps on my BSX Allegro and think they're great. Highly recommended and not too expensive either.
10. If you think it's worth keeping and a prime candidate for a wiring upgrade anyway, I'd just pop it open and diagnose the issue with the J pickup: if it's the pickup itself send it back, but if it's the wiring, keep and upgrade!
11. Always a pleasure to deal with Grahame. Great communication and fast payment.
12. Are these still available? Email sent but no reply
13. Awesome cabs these. They really kick out a lot of volume for the size and cut through well.
14.
Wot... like no WAL....? That Precison's gorgeous, by the way.
Yes, no Wals since 2009 for me, which has been a strange feeling. That said, Paul and I are working on a new bass for me, which I'll be going for in a couple of years when the wood I've earmarked is ready. Thanks for the comment on the P bass too. I assume you mean the fretless?
15.
fair enough.
I'll keep an eye on it though, as I am good mates with the drummer.
16.
have you played it?
No, in fact I've never even met him!
17.
I wonder if anyone on here bought this? I'm not usually a big fan of Buck Eye but this is gorgeous http://www.bassdirec...05_Buckeye.html
I know who has this bass now as he's in the band of a drummer I used to gig with. I don't think he's on BC.
18. Try this
19.
Im after tryin to clear up a bit of early breakup on my SC valve amp, i assume stickin these in would help but would i loose overall headroom?
Well, I'm no expert and I am sure someone will correct me if I talk a load of tosh, but with a 12AY& the amp won't head into distortion as soon, so while you may not get more headroom as such, you should be able to play more cleanly at louder levels.
20.
Contact 'The Bass Doctor' he has some lovely tort guards (look vintage colour not like the horrible salami coloured ones). He has all the appropriate templates so no need to worry about fit!
Ah yes, I forgot about Howard! Have fired off a PM to him. Cheers!
21. The original scracthplate on my 1970 fretless P is shriking quite badly. I had to take it off last night to change the settings on the P retro installed in the bass and it was a real b*gger getting it over the pickups, plus the mounting screws are all getting pulled out of line. My inclination is to get a new one and just store the original in such a way that it minimises shrinkage. Any suggestions on that? Will a standard Fender replacement fit, or should I get one custom made so it can be aged to match the condition of the bass? Any advice much appreciated! Cheers Gareth
