    So my new P bass is awesome, apart from the fact that the sadddle height adjustment screws on the A and D strings are really long and cut into my hand when playing. The E and G string ones are shorter and therefore fine, so does anyone know where I can source four more of these? Cheers Gareth

    This is all good stuff guys, although I'm not sure I'm any the wiser! I've fired a message off about the Classic 50s P, as it does indeed look like just the job. Also spotted a used Deluxe Active P that fits the bill, so asking for info on that too.

    So, with a trade of my Squier Matt Freeman imminent I am looking to upgrade my P bass but am slightly bewildered by the choice! Any thoughts on what's good? Not looking to spend silly money, and if the quality of my Squier is anything to go by I don't need to anyway, but some pointers would be welcome. My choices, buying new, under £800, look like being: Standard P bass - £413 (with current rebate offer) Roger Waters P Bass - £583 50s P bass - £601 Deluxe Active P Bass Special - £647 American Special - £793 Any thoughts?     So, earlier this summer, I dipped my toe in the P bass waters with this superb Squier. I've now decided to go the whole hog and complement my 70 fretless P with a fretted bass of similar vintage, so this bass has to go. It's a Squier [url="http://www.fender.com/en-GB/products/search.php/?partno=0301080506"]Matt Freeman P bass [/url]in black/maple. It's in very good condition save for one dent on the edge of the body. I've upgraded it with a Duncan SPB 3 Quarter Pounder, a Badass, and a KiOgon P bass wiring kit. It sounds absolutely [i]fantastic[/i], balances very well and is nice and light. It really is a very good bass and I won't be that bothered if it doesn't sell, but I would like to get something old.... I'd like £400 posted.

    Well, having spent some time with this bass I must say it's in great nick. I took the neck off and opened it up to get a few internal shots and I'm not sure it'd ever been taken apart - the screws were all nice and tight, and the foam mute was actually stuck to one string! Anyway, great nick, lovely rosewood board, what's not to like? It's boxed up and ready to post.
