1.
Have they discontinued the cabs?! Surely they can source you a replacement?!
Yes, these cabs are discontinued. I assume they have no spares in stock, otherwise I would hope they would have offered me one, so it can only be that the price of neodymium skyrocketing is scaring them off buying any!
2. GUy has told me that one I suggested is a very good replacement, so I guess that's what I go for if i) I can find one ii) it isn't silly expensive!
3.
Could they give you a spec?
I will certainly ask!
4. Oops, yes I have, and was told they won't be able to help with a direct replacement.
5. I think one of the drivers in my Ashdown Neo 4x8 is on the fritz, so I'm investigating a replacement for it. The fitted driver is made by Sica, 8 ohms impedance, and I assume rated 250 watts given that the cab is 1000 watts. There's only one 8" driver on their site, the PL8B25S, so that would seem the obvious candidate, but the thing is I can't see any of these anywhere online (I have an email into HotRox, their UK dealer), so I was wondering if anyone could recommend a suitable alternative? Cheers Gareth
6. Where are you, and dare I ask how heavy it is?
7. How about my Veillette Paris 5? See my sig below for the details.
8.
one string too many unfortunately..
Ah well, not to worry. Beautiful looking Wal and I hope it finds a good home.
9. 1. KiOgon, with LB112 #0001-0310 27. Walbassist, with LB212 #02000-0310 38. tomhunt
10.
The fretted Paris if it's still about
It's in The Gallery as a commission sale now. I'd bring it if someone was interested in buying it, for sure
11.
Was it 20 uk made ones or something??
That's certainly the page for the LB212, but I think a lot of online retailers simply haven't updated their pages. If you order one, check whether they really do still have the UK made 4 ohm LB212 in stock, as they certainly won't be able to get any more in. If they have to order one in from Ashdown it'll be the 8 ohm VS212.
12.
Nice!!! Can't wait to get my hands on one of them cabs!
Guy at Ashdown said they only made 20 of the 2x12s. I think there are more of the 1x12s around though.
13.
I love these little things, wish I could afford one. The question is, and apologies if it's been asked a million times before, can you gig with it? I don't do large venues at all, maybe one a year, mostly pubs and clubs. Would one of these cut it with a good efficient speaker cab? I'm insanely jealous guys
I gig mine all the time and it is plenty loud enough for pubs and clubs using the LB212 or my Mini Neo "stack"!
14. I'm in, with #27. Also have one of the original 4 ohm LB212 cabs (now replaced in the range by the 8 ohm VS212). I've replaced the JJ valves with NOS, ex-MOD, Mullards in the preamp (81s instead of 83s) and driver stages to tame the beast.
15. I do believe I'm free, so am keen to come along. Anything in my signature anyone fancies trying out?
16. Just to reiterate, these really are very good basses. Don't let the fact it's a Squier put you off, mine is a perfect weight and balance, absolutely sings, and is really well put together. At this price what's not to like?
17. Just concluded a very pleasant transaction with John. Excellent communication throughout, and very accommodating with timings and meeting up to do the deed! Buy or sell with confidence people!
18. Spectraflex, classic tweed braided style, bought in the Bass Centre about 1990 IIRC. The band call it "old faithful".
19. I wish it was my Veillette you wanted, as I'd trade for both of those in a flash! Suspect it isn't though....
20. If it worked fine before and after, I'd assume it was the quality of the supply from the shed via the extension leads, rather than the amp itself.
21. I'd love this as a part-trade for my Veillette 5 string, but I am sure that's a non-starter
22.
Just emailed Ashdown to see if there are any differences between the LB-212 and VS-212 apart from impedance, they confirmed they are the same The Little Bastard with a pair of VS-212 would make for a monster 4x12 vertical stack alright!
That would be wicked. I ended up with two Ashdown mini neos instead (4x8 and 1x15) for a bigger setup with greater power handling, but the LB sounds wicked through them too!
