1. Bought two sets and put one on my fretted P. Perfect for that bass but I need to go a gauge lighter for my fretless, so selling the unused set. £30 new, selling for £27.50 posted 1st class.
2.
... but they will take your money.
Indeed.
3. Whatever you do, check the Terms and Conditions of the courier you use, as some do not insure instruments unless they are in a hard case, and some won't insure them at all.
4.
Hi. Have sent you a pm. Please contact me. Regards.
Hi there Yes, I saw your PM and replied last night. I can see it there so it was definitely sent. If you can confirm it isn't in your PMs I'll re-send! Cheers Gareth
5. Yes, JC's are 34" scale.
6. I have a JC love it. Haven't played the Hofner but the string spacing looks awfully narrow to me!
7.
Pictures?
Doing them as we speak!
8. You were spot on with that page ikay! I ordered M3, with a 0.5mm tap to the thread (this is the critical factor to get right apparently) from a UK company and they are a perfect fit. 10mm for the E and G and 12mm for the A and D strings. Cheers Gareth
9. Having one delivered tomorrow, thanks to Pete Academy.... Happy Christmas to me!
10. Did I ask if this was a 4 ohm cab previously?
11. Ashdown have just added this to their Youtube feed.
12. WITHDRAWN
13. About a year ago I picked up a French bow from Yita Music on eBay, it's one of their superior AAA Ironwood models with black hair. Weight is around 135 gms. It is a touch end heavy, but not noticably so when bowing. I've hardly used it, as I decided to stick with German bows, so putting it on here to see if there's any interest. Pictures of actual bow to follow. Also selling a very nice case to keep it in. Made by Concord, it's a proper hard case and holds two bows and a pot of rosin. In mint condition as it's never even been out of the house. Shop image below. The bow and case cost me £140. I'd prefer to sell them both and am looking for £100 posted 1st class recorded. Cheers Gareth
14. That's really helpful, thanks!
15. Hi there The saddle height grub screws ones on my bass are too long and dig into my wrist, especially on the extra long ones used for the A and D strings. Rather than cut them down I'd like to replace them (that way I can restore the bass to stock as/when/if I sell it), but not sure what size they are. My guess is metric, M3, but anyone know for sure? Bass is a 1988/8 MIJ P bass. Cheers Gareth
16. Pretty sure that dowels and wood glue would do the job better than a filler.
17.
I contacted the fellas at Hipshot and they sent me a few photos of a JC bass with said bridge on it and explained how they put it on..
Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but what did the guys @ Hipshot say you needed to do Hooky?
18. Well it's a great buy. Weight is 9lbs on the nose and balance is perfect. It just feels really solid and well put together. It's all original and the condition is excellent. Action was way too high for my taste when it arrives but now it's low and fast. Only thing I need to do is get some shorter grub screws for the saddles, as the originals are way too long and cut into my hand when using a pick. One happy bunny...
19. I asked a similar question last week. If you want to buy new, and don't need to have Fender on the headstock, then a lot of the Squiers are really good at the moment. In fact I just traded away a Squier Matt Freeman Signature P which was quite superb for the money. But don't forget used basses either. You'll get way more bang for your buck, and in fact I now have a late 80s MIJ P bass that is really doing it for me. So, bottom line, try loads and go for the one that floats your boat the most within budget.
20. Modern Zemaitis instruments, including a full range of basses, are available in the UK here (must be related to Ashdown somehow). All made in Japan I believe, and very expensive!
21. Traded a bass with Gavin. Excellent communication and a pleasure to deal with.
22. Gutted for you, but I am sure someone will love this. A week earlier and I'd have had it buthave just picked up a 88 MIJ P bass instead.
23. So my new P bass is awesome, apart from the fact that the sadddle height adjustment screws on the A and D strings are really long and cut into my hand when playing. The E and G string ones are shorter and therefore fine, so does anyone know where I can source four more of these? Cheers Gareth
