Hello all I have used Innovation Silver Slaps on my BSX since I bought it some five years ago. I like them a lot, but I fancy trying something else and was wondering what's out there in terms of low tension strings? I also fancy something a little thicker, gauge-wise, on the D and G strings. The BSX has a piezo that allows for adjustments to the volume of each string, so I could even mix and matchbrands if I wanted. The bass is a 5 string too, and I am tempted to go EADGC rather than the current BEADG, so a nice low tension C suggestion would be good! Cheers Gareth

I had a similar experience when picking a FSR PJ bass. When I sent a general email asking if they would be able to pick me out a specific weight they said no, but when I ordered and asked again they sais no problem, so I guess money talks?

Looks like the Denon HiFi amp I had in the 1980s! I'm sure it's great though.

Just had an email back from a guy who stocks both. He said the Licensed tuners are great and there's no real need to pay the extra for the US, so he's just talked himself out of some extra wedge from me!

I have played fretless all the time in one of my bands for about six years now. I recently joined a blues band where I use a fretted P, but it's only a matter of time before I switch to the fretless for that band too. I much prefer fretless bass, and it sounds like you do too. If it makes you happy then go for it! Also, you can make a fretless sound fretted (sounds like you can do this already), but you can't make a fretted sound fretless, so it's fretless for the win!

I had exactly the same problem with a set of Status flats. Drop them a line and I am sure they'll send a replacement.

I think they are back to up to speed now after the Christmas holidays. My most recent (15th!) order was placed on 31/12 and the items arrived 12/1, which is pretty good considering they were closed until 6/1. I returned the bass I bought on Wednesday this week (pre-paid by Thomann with UPS), and they received back this morning and have already refunded me the money!

Hi there Does anyone have any experience of the licensed Hipshot Ultralites? I know the US-made ones are terrific, but what of the Korean licensed ones? Thanks Gareth

[/quote] I like my American Special so much I just bought a new one from Thomann, their PJ version in violinburst. Unfortunately, it's nothing like as good as my current one (a good weight, but poor QC with uneven pole pieces, crooked neck plate and sanding marks on headsock) and is going straight back. Just goes to show you, some good and some bad.....

My tracking information never showed up on the Thomann site, so I emailed them to get the details. Have tracked them on DHL and now Parcel Force sites since, but still nothing on Thomann's page.

I have owned dozens of basses over the years, including some high end brands like Wal and Ken Smith. My main squeeze at the moment is a Fender American Special, it was less than £500, looks and sounds the business, is beautifully put together, and is one of the most resonant basses I have ever played. It's also really nice and light and has a wonderful shallow C neck. It's perfect in every way. There's something about the Fender P that, for me at least, is just "right". There are some amazing Fenders out there, just as there are amazing basses from most manufacturers. The trick is to find them!

With a capo at the first fret, I aim for 2.5mm on the E and 1.5mm at the G. These measurements are taken with a gap of .25mm at the 9th fret when pressing the string at the first and last frets.

And mine are "loaded for delivery", so Monday now (they are being delivered to work).

Hi guys After a it of googling, it looks like a lower gain valve in V2 will reduce the gain in the drive channel of the Fender Blues Deluxe. Can anyone confirm? Thanks Gareth

I have two items currently on order with Thomann. Their site says both items shipped Monday evening, but no tracking details at all on their site so I had to email them for an update. Thomann are under the impression my items have shipped, but the DHL site just says "The instruction data for this shipment have been provided by the sender to DHL electronically", so who knows where they are at the moment!
