1. Hi there Does anyone have any experience of the licensed Hipshot Ultralites? I know the US-made ones are terrific, but what of the Korean licensed ones? Thanks Gareth
2. Brand new in the bag. http://www.deanmarkl...blue-steel-bass Strings Direct sell them for £24.99, so I am looking for £20 posted. Thanks Gareth
3. Love Shack or Disco Inferno
4.
My main squeeze at the moment is a Fender American Special, it was less than £500, looks and sounds the business, is beautifully put together, and is one of the most resonant basses I have ever played. It's also really nice and light and has a wonderful shallow C neck. It's perfect in every way.
I like my American Special so much I just bought a new one from Thomann, their PJ version in violinburst. Unfortunately, it's nothing like as good as my current one (a good weight, but poor QC with uneven pole pieces, crooked neck plate and sanding marks on headsock) and is going straight back. Just goes to show you, some good and some bad.....
5. My tracking information never showed up on the Thomann site, so I emailed them to get the details. Have tracked them on DHL and now Parcel Force sites since, but still nothing on Thomann's page.
6. I have owned dozens of basses over the years, including some high end brands like Wal and Ken Smith. My main squeeze at the moment is a Fender American Special, it was less than £500, looks and sounds the business, is beautifully put together, and is one of the most resonant basses I have ever played. It's also really nice and light and has a wonderful shallow C neck. It's perfect in every way. There's something about the Fender P that, for me at least, is just "right". There are some amazing Fenders out there, just as there are amazing basses from most manufacturers. The trick is to find them!
7. With a capo at the first fret, I aim for 2.5mm on the E and 1.5mm at the G. These measurements are taken with a gap of .25mm at the 9th fret when pressing the string at the first and last frets.
8. And mine are "loaded for delivery", so Monday now (they are being delivered to work).
9. Hi guys After a it of googling, it looks like a lower gain valve in V2 will reduce the gain in the drive channel of the Fender Blues Deluxe. Can anyone confirm? Thanks Gareth
10. Do you ever make it down south? I have an Allegro you can try if so.
11. I have two items currently on order with Thomann. Their site says both items shipped Monday evening, but no tracking details at all on their site so I had to email them for an update. Thomann are under the impression my items have shipped, but the DHL site just says "The instruction data for this shipment have been provided by the sender to DHL electronically", so who knows where they are at the moment!
12. How cheap are you talking then?
13. How about WD music from these guys? Official Fender necks are £199 for the Mex neck, easily available off eBay.
14. Having over-extended the finances I need to let this go without even using it... the fantastic Providence Dual Bass Station. It's brand new, never used, and comes with a UK power supply. Good review here: https://www.youtube....h?v=KJJJ-RFOp-I These are £300 new in the UK, so get a brand new one for 15% off. Cheers Gareth
15. Ah, what an amp This was a terrific bit of kit and Mert is a pleasure to deal with. Great choice for someone....
16. I was going to say Tonebone PZ-Pre, until I saw you wanted rack mount.... http://www.tonebone.com/pzpre-features.php
17. My year of birth bass, right there
18. I really do love this bass, my BSX Allegro, but I have decided to switch to a 4 string. https://www.youtube....h?v=Re3pmUR6Oxs Removable neck, which is also easily adjusted for action. Bartolini 3 band EQ with piezo pickup. Currently strung with Silver Slaps. It's in very good condition for an 11 year old bass, a few very small bumps here and there, but nothing major. The worst damage is a dent in the reinforced plastic base near the end pin. Original TKL gig bag is included. £2149 new in the UK, I am looking for a firm £1200, collected from Central London or NE Hampshire. I'm afraid I have nothing suitable in which I could post it, so please don't ask. Thanks Gareth
19. Very nice Michael. I am about to order a vertical S112 to use for small gigs and rehearsals, which will make a nice compliment to my amazing 1156
20. Yes, the Orchid is pretty tempting at that price
21. Thanks, one and all, for the replies. I don't need any tone shaping, so it's purely what's best to use running from the "preamp out" or "effects send" of my amp. Looks like the Radial ProDI is a front runner.
22. Hello all I'd like to invest in a DI, so that on the rare occasion I need to go through a PA, I can send a signal to the desk using the "preamp out" on the back of my amp. Any recommendations? Thanks Gareth
