I agree it didn't have a similar timeline as drums one. (I'm a Stewart Copeland fanboy, so he could have talked about his concrete decorative pig collection & I'd have watched it)😌 I enjoyed the bass prog though. Perhaps it was more of an observation of how "bass" has become more prominent in popular music. I didn't know anything about the evolution of EDM, which was interesting. So wasn't necessarily all about bass guitar. Looking forward to guitar one.

I maybe going out on a limb here, ....crazy as it may seem, but I reckon the programme wasn't aimed at bass players.😲 Let's face it, if it was, they'd have lost most of the audience within minutes. Can you imagine "points of view" the following week "Outraged of Esher here......how very dare you for not including Mark McPastoriflea in your so called show. His influence on the development of my playing has been felt across pubs in the Oxshott & river Mole region for decades...."

I'm always amazed by the amount of musicians (that gig regularly) with an impaired ability to hear relatively simple chords/chord progressions/arrangements/melody. I don't quite know what they're hearing when they play songs (incorrectly).

I can't think of a bass line that's ever had that effect on me tbh. I can think of plenty that I've though were great, or make me happy. However, "trebley" bass tones have a similar effect on me that the OP describes experiencing when hearing the bass lines he dislikes. So, think of the bass tone from a certain "Affirmative" prog rock ensemble and you'll get the picture. Back on topic. I guess I associate the bass line with the song, it is what it is & makes the record what it is. Can't think of a time I've thought "what this needs is something more interesting/challenging/complicated/etc" But each to his own.

Oi. Butt out! I've got 2 years, 3 months, 4.5 days left.

That's squashed my TF Bass gas thankfully. I can't cope with lined fretless necks with the dots between frets...confuses the hell out of me. So a multitude of dots would send me little brain into a tail spin. These look such fabulous basses though.

My main gigging bass is an Encore special edition P. Cost me under a ton. I've replaced the pickup. The neck is wide & fat and fits like a glove. I don't want another bass. The BL has an arsenal of more expensive basses he is happy for me to use, but why would I? Play what feels good in your hands, you'll likely play better as a result (possibly....subject to terms & conditions)

They've definitely added pics as there was only one image up earlier....and it could have been any old Bass shaped thing it was so dark. Minimalist to say the least.

Or indeed how they would buy an instrument... Add it to the bill I guess? 🤡

It's a musical instruments shop. Sell a lot of reasonably priced 2nd hand gear. EBay presence.
