Pod Question

I sold off all my individual stomps to get an XT Live and have never looked back. I'm still getting to grips with it really but so far it's great. I'm quite happy with the choruses personally, they're perfectly good for live work. Likewise the fuzzes/dists, although I'm tending to go more with the amp models for those. I've managed to get the autowah/Qtron patch set up with no noticeable bass drop, using the EQ. The synth patches are terrible however. But if I ever need a synth sound, I'll dig out the Deep Impact again I'd take this thing over an ME50B any day, I tried one of those and thought it was utter bollocks to be honest. But hey, we all like different stuff (see any Dream Theater or Level 42 thread for details ). It's brilliant being able to go from flat to Jack Bruce to Jamerson to Bootsy at the touch of a button. Love it!

They never tell their friends that they're seeing someone 'who is a musician'. Then you join a really good band. They ask why you need to rehearse so much. They never come to a gig. They then ask why you need to play gigs at all. They get pissed off because you spend time any time at all rehearsing, which they feel cuts into their time with you. They never listen to your music, and couldn't care less that it's going well and you've even got major label interest. They then reach the stage of being so jealous of your music that they are on the verge of an ultimatum à la "it's me or the band", when you finally decide that you've had enough of this sh*t and dump them before they can make such an unfair demand on you (just as well, because if the ultimatum had come it would have taken about 20 nanoseconds thinking time). Been there.
Amended to reflect my experience with my first long-term girlfriend. Looking back, the whole thing just screamed 'insecurity'.
  3. If the OP posted about it on the EBMM forum, and if Sterling Bollock ended up posting any form of abuse on it, when the subject is a bass that left his factory faulty... then it would speak volumes about his business sense and the extent to which he cared about his customer base. If. This is all hypothetical, of course. But I almost want to see this on the EBMM forum, just to see what happens.

  5.
I reckon he's just taking the mick out of every slappin' and poppin' bass branleur in da house by doing it 10 times better and 100m times faster... ficelles
Faster yes, but better? Err, no.
  6.
I'd rather see the Wombles than 95% of the sh*t they have on at Glastonbury.
Plus about a million.
  7.
Has anyone else ever wondered what would happy if barefaced and BFM teamed together to make a range of uber-cabs?
I think we'd all have to start looking out for low-flying pigs.
  8. I like a bit of slap, and I'm sure Nigel's a lovely bloke and all that, but oh dear this really is grooveless nonsense.
  9.
Why bring Ashdown into this?

Because of their impeccable customer service.
Well, they weren't exactly overwhelmingly helpful when I contacted them about the Freebass wireless I (very briefly) had. I contacted them about some weird noises it was making, said I'd replaced all the leads and even the power supply and still no good, and I was told (twice) that the problem was "either in the receiver or the transmitter". God, really? Pretty much all the help I was offered. Although they were very quick in replying to my emails. 311
  10.
I voted hardcase, bt it really depends.
This.
  11. Wrong again actually, the answer is one of the following:

Ulaan Bator.
One sixth of a gill.
Colonel Mustard, in the library, with the candlestick.
Yes.
1951.
Tim.
"Tea break's over, back on yer heads."
No.
The third dalek from the left.
Marmoset.
12. If you like the sound of some Hartke amps, why not take a punt on one? I've got an old Hartke 3500 head and it's completely brilliant in every way. And like you say, they're cheap. Advantage
  13. Anything with Yamaha on the headstock.
  14. You know what I'd do? Stick the pot in a jiffy bag as has been suggested, and send it off FOC using the USPS $2.50 service that someone found. If it arrives in one piece, all is well and goodwill is restored. Good PR, minimal outlay. If it arrives busted up in transit, then it's reasonable to say "well I tried, but I did warn you it might happen"... but at least the attempt was made. Goodwill is restored, as the right thing is seen to have been attempted. More good PR, minimal outlay. That's what I'd do. But then I'm a skint signalling designer from Bristol, not an NYC luthier.
  15.
But then again, your guys are English and drive on the Wrong side of the road, right?.. lol
Not at all. You guys drive on the right... we drive on the correct
  16. I'd have thought we had enough members of the BC Bristol Massive to hold our own Bash here
  17. Is it a Modulus thing? I saw my mate's band a while back, the bassist had a Modulus Quantum 5 and a Status S2 5-string and alternated between the two. The Status was thundering, but the Modulus was all click and no balls. Not what I was expecting at all.
  18. Can we just accept that some people like them and some don't?
  19. $100 for shipping a small electronic component is remarkable when you consider that UPS only charged a guy $10 to ship me a stomp box from the States. If I recall correctly, CK has also been on the receiving end of Mr Smith's idea of customer service too. What is the pot rating/type?
  20. One of my F/book friends has gone 4/4 and is regretting it. The sound is brilliant but the thing is a real arse to transport and I think he's finding the playing quite a challenge.
  21. Godammit, will people please stop selling things I want when I've got no money?
  22. I've got a defretted RBX765A and can confirm that they make great fretless basses. This looks like a bargain
  23. I must be a really, really lucky man... all the drummers I've ever played with have been rock-solid metronomic groovemeisters. I honestly don't think i could play with a sloppy timekeeper, it'd drive me batsh!t.
  24.
That would actually work. Let's open up a store!
Yes, you could call it The Root-Five Emporium
  25.
So many peoples experiences differ, but if you only attend one church and get turned off (or even on) its like going to a random concert and then judging all forms of music by it
I get the feeling that I may have given the impression I turned my back on religion purely because of the lacklustre services. Not so. My abandonment of the church goes an awful lot deeper than just getting fed up with sitting through antiquated hymns. Having said that, it is sad that the Shinfield Free congregation didn't realise the damage they were doing by refusing to move even slightly with the times.
