1. "Oh my god, war has been declared and there are missiles heading this way! In 3 minutes time, we're all going to be vapourised in a massive nucular blast!" "Actually, it's pronounced 'nuclear'."
2. Re-opened at seller's request. GLWTS!
This is a superbly efficient and compact 1 x 12" cab with an incredibly full and accurate sound. It is LOUD and all you will need for most gigs, including outdoors, which is the reason it is for sale. I bought a pair of 112ERs and an LMIII amp thinking that I'd use one cab for small venues and two for larger halls and outdoor events. Around 100 gigs later and the second cab has only been used 3 or 4 times and even then not really needed. One of these cabs is enough for all the gigs I do so this one is up for sale. Model EX112ER specifications: • 1 x 12" cast frame woofer w/ 80oz. magnet, vented pole piece • power handling - 350 watts rms • sensitivity: 98.5db • anechoic: 2.83v/1m • frequency response: 40hz - 4khz • 2 x 1/4" and 2 x neutrik connectors • impedance: 8 ohms • dimensions: 15 3/4"H x 18-1/2"W x 15"D • 40cm x 47cm x 38cm • weight: 36lbs/16.3Kgs • Padded/fitted cover £60 • This cab works well with high power amplifiers from 300 - 500w at 8O More details and reviews here: http://www.bassdirec...s_speakers.html I bought this new from BassDirect for £500. It has seen very little use and is in excellent condition. Comes with the matching Berg padded cover. Price £300 - collection preferred (located Guildford/Horsham area)
3. My bandmates are all friends. We all get on like a house on fire, no small feat when there's 12 of you! Our gigs are more like a bit of a party on stage, it's the perfect antodote to a working week. As blue said:
What else would I do?
4. D'Adds are excellent -- I used their nickels for a while and was v.impressed by their longevity. However, I am also a fully convinced Elixir user now. I approached them with a certain amount of scepticism -- surely they can't last as long as people say? -- but by god they do. I like a reasonably bright tone with decent bite, and my last set of Elixirs were still delivering that after 9 months. Yes they're not cheap, but they do work out to be cost effective if you consider how many ordinary sets would die in the same time.
5.
I keep my own teaspoon at work!
Thank christ, I thought it was just me.
6. Longer thread here.
7.
...so that means it will never be sold. Lucky really that I love it and it's now my number one go to.
I'm guessing that you mean the bass rather than the wife
8. According to Farcebook, the bassist is Eric Ingram.
9. Kiwi is the guy to ask. You could do worse than drop him a PM to ask about his experience?
10.
I'm all in favour of personalised/customised scratchplates. It looks great.
It certainly does. I've got a possible dep (and maybe even full time place) coming up in a ska band, for which the bitsa P will be the obvious weapon of choice -- a chequerboard scratchplate will deffo be on the shopping list if it happens 😎
11. I'm currently in two bands, and at one time 'I Wish' was on the set list of both. The key was E for one band and E[sup]b[/sup] for the other. Talk about a recipe for disaster.
12. "Overly medicated" is the perfect description of the xx's soporific load of old bleh.
13. I heard him talking about this on R4 the other day. He really knows his subject and seems very passionate about it. I think I'll probably buy it.
14. Before this thread disappears into a whirl of alleged musical snobbery and confirmational bias (whatever TF that is), just thought it'd be worth mentioning that one of the most oft-quoted criteria mentioned in the 'Requirements for Joining a Band' thread so far is "music that I like/will enjoy playing". Is that 'snobbery' or just personal taste?
15. I would sooner play Sally or Superstition than Dakota or Sex On bloody Fire any day of the week.
16. Red Lion Brentford, South Hill Park, Cellar Bar... man, this thread is bringing back some really great memories. *wistful sigh*
17. I reckon Sally gets a rough deal. It's not that bad a tune and the punters love it.
18. I used Hotwires for quite a while until a spate of QC issues put me off (e.g. the rattly windings as mentioned by JL). Now an entirely convinced Elixir user.
19. If I walked out on stage starkers, it'd clear the place quicker than a fire alarm.
20. The money aspect depends on whether you're joining the band primarily to earn a living or have some fun.
21. In no particular order:

Nice people, who I would be happy to count as mates.
No egos.
Music that I will enjoy playing.
Good standard of musicianship all round, but especially the drummer.
Professional attitude.
22. For me, Stevie's 'For Once In My Life' has got to be well up there. Jamerson at his absolute best, total mastery. This graphic representation gives an idea of its combination of fearsome complexity and effortless groove.
23. 38,000 members... 38,000 different answers...
24. Really liked the look of the SRH505 until I saw this in the specs... "16.5mm string spacing" Ugh. Far too cramped.
