  1. I watched a street vendor in Jakarta carving these things from bits of old plank using a crappy little knife and a few files. He asked the equivalent of 30p for this one (it's about 8" tall) and seemed surprised when I didn't haggle. I'd say they're pretty good with a piece of wood

  3. Interstellar Overdrive - Pink Floyd
  4. Live Fast Die Young - Hollywood Undead
  5. For me, the classic TE sound, the one I love, isn't Mark King or Ox or Zender or any of those. It's the sound *I* got from *MY* Trace SMX head back in the day. And when I say 'in the day', I'm not talking about the bloody 80s. I couldn't afford a Trace then.
  6. Interesting that you assume everyone who loves the old TE sound is a King-obsessed slap monster. Not the case at all, I can assure you.
  7. I've just checked the website, as you suggested. Their "range of amps, cabs and combos" appears to be a range of ONE tiny amp, two preamp pedals (one of which isn't even for bass), two tiny cabs and a pair of combos featuring the aforementioned tiny amp mated with the aforementioned tiny cabs. I can't think of another bass amp manufacturer whose range is so pitifully limited.
  8. Champagne Supernova - Oasis
  9. Straight On - Heart
  10. Go To Jail - Yelawolf
  11. Give Give Give Me More More More - The Wonder Stuff
  12. Likewise. So it looks like what would have been my band's gig of 2020 which was then the gig of 2021 will end up being our gig of 2022, if it survives.
  13. There is quite literally nothing I even remotely like about that.
  14. Night Birds - Shakatak
  15. Oh good choice sir. Blow the Wind Southerly - traditional Northumberland folk song
  16. I concur. MM definitely the way to go. I know exactly what you mean about the stock bridge position being thin and weedy, my Artist bass is the same. It may as well not be there.
  17. The Ghost of You - My Chemical Romance
  18. One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer - John Lee Hooker
  19. Thunderbirds Are Go - Busted
  20. UPDATE: I've updated the control plate. It's now B/W/B pickguard material rather than metal, and I've ditched the pan pot & replaced it with a volume control and 3-way mini toggle switch for pickup selection. I'd have preferred a black switch, but couldn't find a 3-way on-on-on anywhere. I also followed hooky's suggestion and went for some white Jazz knobs, which I think are perfect.
  21. When I took my bass back to Jon a few years ago to have some Delanos retro-fitted, I made a long weekend of it and stayed over at a B&B farm down the road -- I forget the name but it wasn't far from the Blue John caves. It was fabulous. Your plan sounds like a great idea, and just thinking about it makes me pretty jealous. Oh, and take plain Hobnobs rather than chocolate ones.
  22. From Russia With Love - Matt Monro
  23. You could say that... wasn't this the bass that made a shelf fall off my garage wall? Oh yes, I remember this one. Played it at a Destroyers gig and fell head over heels in love with it. Beautiful thing. EDIT: here 'tis.
  24. Those two are rubbish. Give them to me, I'll dispose of them for you.
