  3. Anybody ever had difficulty getting a reply from DR Strings? Sent them three emails so far and not heard a dickybird. Not tremendously impressed.

My first contact with them was in early November, via the Contact Us on the website... emailed them directly on the 4th of this month and again last week. Nothing.

Story has a happy ending; I emailed Lord Of The Strings earlier, from whom I bought the strings, and they have just replied to say that they've put a replacement string in the post. A 90 minute turnaround, now that's proper customer service, and the reason why I shall be buying from them again in the future. But I've bought my last set of DRs.

I put DRs on my bass... Lo-Riders... absolutely love them.  Sold all of my spare packs of Ernie Balls!

  4. This, 100%. We know for a fact that he has no scruples or moral compass -- see swindling pensioners for details -- and he'll just move on to the next target. He's got to be stopped, now. Just think of all the misery you'll be preventing.
  5. So, this guy defrauds you; is caught bang to rights; makes no attempt to deny it; and instead of returning your hard-earned or even putting his hands up, he basically says "yeah I've got your money, and now I'm going to harass you because you asked for it back"..? Unbelievable. My opinion of this person is completely unprintable.
  6. Agreed. He's just being abusive, threatening and arrogant. He's taunting you with your own money, FFS, and not making the slightest effort to deny that he was trying to rip you off. It is definitely time for the gloves to come off.
  7. Continuity announcer on C5 has just described Home Alone as "the greatest Xmas movie ever made". I can't decide if that's complete boIIocks or complete and utter boIIocks.

Nope, Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before. Or, The Muppets A Christmas Carol,  It's a Wonderful Life,  or Trading Places.

  8. I don't know whether to be A} slightly in awe at your sheer brass neck in creating a fake profile purely to try to defend yourself, or B} astonished that you'd be dumb enough to think it would work. I'll go with B, I think
  9. Please folks, no more comments about what may or may not happen to him if he ends up in jail. Especially given that he's seen this thread and is making legal threats. Polite advice only please.

    Acoustic Basses

My ABG is a Tanglewood TRB-CE 'Rosewood Reserve' which Herself got me for Xmas one year... one of those incredible totally out of the blue gifts that leaves you welling up and speechless for about half an hour. I, too, hated the bronze strings and ditched them in favour of a set of played-in Elixir nickels (i.e. about 18 months old! ). Instantly played and felt about 1000% better, even more so after I took a file to the nut slots and deepened them a bit. In an ideal world I'd take a skim off the bottom of the bridge saddle too, but I don't have the nerve to tackle that myself . Acoustically it's never going to keep up with anything more than a gently-fingerpicked acoustic guitar in an ensemble setting, but I don't care... it sounds great plugged in and of course is lovely just to sit and noodle about on. And frankly with all that rosewood it looks DDG as just an objet d'art.
