1.
A straight G on a solo guitar own would definitely be wrong though as the bass note is an E and there is no E in a straight G major chord. So it would really have to be Em7 or G/E (which as leftybassman pointed out basically the same chord). With guitar + bass you could just play a straight G on guitar so long as the bass is playing an E.
So it's definitely an E in the bass then? (Well, F...remember the capo on the 1st) I really do hear a G(shape). When I do this acoustically with the duo, starting the middle 8 with a G is absolutely fine...it works perfectly with the vocals and makes sense within the song. When I do it with the band, starting with the Em7 just sounds wrong to me. However I have been wrong before
2. Thanks for the help guys. Not that straightforward then. Personally I think a straight G sounds best. It's a nice strong start to the middle 8. If I play the song on acoustic guitar I play the G. The guitarists prefer the Em7 but I think they're just following online tabs/chord charts which as we all know are dubious at best. I've tweeted Luke Bryan...hopefully he will answer and put us right. Lol.
3. That is a possibility! Thanks
4. Hey guys, I have a small disagreement with one of our guitarists about a chord during the song Roller Coaster by Luke Bryan. It's the first chord of the middle eight..."She's like a song playin' over and over"...It starts just after 2m 50secs. I've tried linking to the correct time but it doesn't seem to work The song is capo'd on the first fret, so in terms of chord shapes...it's either a G or an Em7. I would be very appreciative to see what the good people of BC make of it. Thanks
5. I've recently gone back to Rotosound after using D'addario for years. The Rotos are great and really good value for money. And I've just put some of their guitar strings on my strat copy...again, really pleased with them.
6. I use them quite a lot. Last order was a mic, stand and cable for next to nothing!
7. I've changed my mind. I think I will go for "failed musician".
8. Learn lots of songs, play lots of gigs.
9. Very nice bass! Congrats! I think the gold or tort will look nice...I'm so helpful My personal preference would be mint. Again...no help at all
10.
Although my previous pre/power amp setup sounded perfect, I decided I needed something with a bit more onstage mid control, and something with a bit of drive for some upcoming dep gigs/future projects/expanding band repertoire. I've had a Glockenklang amp before and it was the nicest tone of any integrated amp I've experienced, and the build quality is fantastic. So, I sold my amps and bought Glockenklang's newest head the 1000w Blue Rock. It's class D, but not as we know it. It's relatively big and heavy for a class D, and does not use the ubiquitous B&O ICE power module. Also, this has a whole separate drive section! Glockenklang have a rep for being ultra clean, so this feature is quite a departure. I'm yet to even plug it in! Thoughts to follow next week for those who are interested
Looks great! Happy new amp
What exactly was the point of that post?
What exactly was the point of that post? EDIT: Also very slightly disappointed this wasn't about a Glock pistol.
11. Bass player. But I don't really care. I'm more worried that someone will find out I'm a fraud and that I really have no idea what I'm doing.
12.
No, I think he's just lost his way a bit. Dropout's an incredible album. It's essential listening for anyone that likes hip-hop. I suspect he'll take a break and then come back in a few years with a groundbreaking album.
+1 That's a great album. He's just turned into a bit of a dick.
13. Looks are the single most important thing to me. If I walk into a music shop, I would never even try an ugly bass. Besides I do most of my shopping online, so that means everything I buy is pretty much based on looks only!
14. SX 75JB LTD: Legendary SX bass with the "lawsuit" headstock. Looks great, sounds great. Cheap enough to not need justification. Probass Retrovibe Aero2: Fender Aerodyne copy/killer. Set neck PJ bass gives me a P option. Bitsa P with a J neck: Can't really justify this one...but cheap as chips and looks nice. Barefaced gen1 Compact: Six badly eroded lower back discs make lightweight a top priority. TC BH550: Fits in a laptop bag, sounds awesome, built in tuner. More weight/gear reduction. Tonk Bros Parlour guitar: Star player in my quest for country music duo. Hard to justify really. Indonesian made birch plywood guitar, hand finished (ok, stained) in the UK. Bought mainly for it's looks. Plays ok after giving the nut some attention and adding a compensating saddle. I Like "different" stuff. Harley Benton Deko 4 string fretless bass, Squier Affinity Strat, Westfield LP Jr copy. Cheap enough not to worry about.
15. I have no idea who the typical Basschat bass player is but I do know whatever you lot think is wrong and you're stupid and I'm better than you.
16. Scag Ricketts played bass on the first three Manta Ray's Broken Basket records.
17. I haven't read any of this thread but I vehemently disagree with all of it, all of you, and I cast aspersions on all of your characters. Y'all. Y'all characters.
18. Don't be scared of being pretty minimal. Play two or three note chords. Consider using a capo to give the chords a different voicing. I don't know what I'm talking about.
19. I lasted 20 seconds. I did not enjoy those 20 seconds one bit.
20.
Moved it for you.
Ta
