Are there any stock Fender P-basses with a Jazz neck?
AttitudeCastle replied to fretmeister's topic in Bass Guitars
Almost. Mark Hoppus sig. Jazz Body, Precision Pick-ups, P neck. Close, but no cigar!
Is there a Precision but with Jazz pickups? Either I remember seeing one... or remember wanting to see one -
Where could I have this "thumbrest" made?
If Mr. Ou7shined can't make that then I'll eat my hat!
If Rich can't do it, it's as close to impossible as you'll get! -
Can't seem to find anything about the BB2024MX basses minus your one! They look gorgeous, major GAS!
It seems to me the OP may not have the wherewithall to record at home and fly in rerecorded parts by file transfer to be dropped in to the DAW. Otherwise he would not have needed to go all the way to Bradford to record, and book days off etc. I earn naff all from music. I have a nice well paid day job thank you, so I only need to play with bands I love, playing music I love. Music costs ME money, although I do have one pro gig but I love the gig anyway and it doesn't pay much as gigs are infrequent.
Well my comment in regards to money would be that I can almost say for certain you've earnt more than me from it from that point of view. I still feel that they could have at least given him a heads up to what they planned to do, recording over his parts. I am purely a musician for the sheer enjoyment of music too, and I feel that if someone were to remove my part/contribution then they are diminishing my enjoyment of the music. I wasn't trying to say that it was all about earning money etc, if that's what it implied so apologies on that front.

I have many things to say on this subject but won't post them all here! I'm sat my Higher (second last year of school) Music exam two/three weeks ago so I'm guessing we're about the same age? When you say get better, do you mean as a player, on a technical front or as a musician? I find they are hand in hand but two seperate entities and when they work together is when the purest and best (expressive yet truely "musicial") music is made! All IME and IMO!

I have a good bass and I have a good amp... Why do I need a pedal?
AttitudeCastle replied to bassickman's topic in Effects
Some people do some don't. End of! -
Reliability and fixability matters, however much you like the sound it makes, doesn't count if it isn't making sound.
As a working musician that is 100% true, but I'm an advocate of sound above all else. Though as you say it needs to work for that sound to be there! My post was in relation to solid state / tube amps in regards to tone
Do an A/B test with an all valve amp and a hybrid with a valve in the preamp and you'll see the massive difference. Come on guys. I know solid state amps are cheaper, lighter and cost less to mantain but please don't tell me they sound better! Perhaps some people are trying to convince themselves.
It's entirely subjective, you can't tell people what they think or like. If for you an SVT 2 pro plus what ever bass and cabs you use is sonic perfection to you, that's all that matters. If person B/C/D etc prefers a totally different set-up that's fine. Then the fact that your rig is full of valves and theirs isn't, is an irrelevence.

FOR SALE YAMAHA BB424X VW (No longer for sale)
AttitudeCastle replied to bkman42's topic in Basses For Sale
23 mins in and I'm surprised it's still here at this price. All those people who have ever asked about what bass they should buy for a beginner or a bass under £300 should be fighting each other for this. It's gorgeous.
+1! Very tempted by this even though i don't need a bass, have no room for one and desperately need an amp! Fantastic basses, and equally great price! best of luck with the sale friend, I'd be stunned if this was here very long! -

Fender P-Bass Special FSR Seafoam Green in Merchant City Music
AttitudeCastle replied to merello's topic in Bass Guitars
This Sir is a travesty! Only Jazz basses are allowed to be seafoam green.
My Yamaha Attitude would strongly disagree!! That thing is gorgeous, wish I had the money for it! -
The GVB36 is a fantastic Bass! I'm loving it! I wanted to review one in iGuitar, maybe now that they are finding their way in to the UK, we'll have a chance. Interestingly, I snapped up one of the only three in the country currently. People in the right places, ya see! ;0)
Am eager to try one, also Edit: Should read reviews (plural!) you do have great bass instincts Dood haha!

Love your reviews Dood! Very tempted to nab one myself, and an Ibanez GVB36 haha!

Does anyone on here use a Trace 410/118 Rig? I've heard other rigs sound just as full and full range usuing only 12's or 10's Though it seemed a better than most 410/115s I've tried, though that's down to each box/company so isn't a truely fair comparision I guess.
Then when you're bored of all the faffing, acquire an Ampeg BSP
Shhh Dood! You're letting all the secrets out the bag
Aren't they made by Behringer?
Same parent company, same Issues IME Build quality is hit and miss, though I've heard some Bugera Guitar amps which sounded pretty damn good! The BVP5500 is pretty much an Ampeg SVT-3 pro clone AFAIK

Funny things you've heard at a gig/soundcheck?
In an orchestra I used to play in, conductor once told my section (French Horns) and the Trombones that we were too loud and needed to play a bit quieter, and we would try again from etc. So second time, we didn't play at all and he just went "yeah that's fine guys, keep up the good work" ... prick
Same thing happened to me! We had a guest conductor and said "Brass too loud!" (We we're a 4 piece section for this work) She stops us several times despite us playing so quite we couldn't hear ourselves. So we don't play. She says "Better volume, still a little much in places" So I suggest we place our instruments on the floor/on their stands. We sit through the whole piece arms folded feet up. "Brass, just about right" -
Will markbass be appropriate for rock?
AttitudeCastle replied to bassickman's topic in Amps and Cabs
I used a Mark Bass Little rocker, and a Tube 800 W one (not sure what model) Although not entirely my thing, with my cabs I'd be happy to gig with one behind me! -
Hellborg Bass Preamp, is really so magic?!
AttitudeCastle replied to Teobass88's topic in Amps and Cabs
Maybe the Momark with the tube modules? Might be in the right direction? Also JPT uses quite alot of bass and low mid but in a smooth way, without huge peaks or troughs, but also enough high mids to allow the harmonics to ring through. I think he also winds down the treble a litte. Man he's a monster player! I guess trying as much gear as possible is the key. Btw I checked your stuff it it's cool! Is it a Pro series 6 string Thumb fretless or is it a german warwick? -
Hellborg Bass Preamp, is really so magic?!
AttitudeCastle replied to Teobass88's topic in Amps and Cabs
Alot of JPT comes from his basses, he really likes the raw sound of the thumb basses (and is one of the reasons I do too!) I'm a massive Obscura fan The Hellborg pre-amp helps compliment it, and is one of the more "defined yet warm" bass systems I've used and heard live. However as Dood pointed out, that's basically a vague ball park similarity and to get "close" would be pretty difficult with an exact replicated set up, and even then would be a challange... -
Mike Lull TB-4 & Thunderbucker pickups - UK Dealer?
AttitudeCastle replied to Shaggy's topic in Bass Guitars
Might be worth giving Mark at Bass Direct an e-mail? They stock Lull basses, -
I've been told my way sounds pretty close to the orginal recording, though I don't hear it personally! Not many people know of my secret love for Disco, being in a few metal bands and that In my experience (not true of everyone though!) you have to feel it. It's a cliche but it's true. If you have to think about it, it won't happen. I'm pretty good at mimicking other styles and specific players, and I find it's all in the mind really
