1. This thread made me feel good. I can sleep well now in the knowledge that somebody has a crackle free amp.

ampeg 810

The low end of the Ampeg 6x10 is much more focused and you'll never be struggling for volume. A better cab than the 8x10 and you can still make the world crumble around you with it. I had an Ampeg 8x10, followed by a 6x10... and now I'm down to an Aguilar 4x10. Getting smaller and smaller but my sound seems to be getting bigger and bigger!
3. Hey there, I've got a message from Mark to say he is on holiday until the end of the week but the amp is still for sale if you are interested and he'll be in touch when he gets back and has internet access.
4. Used to play punk tunes on a guitar with my best mate who is a drummer as school kids. Then another mate came along and we wanted to form a band. He was a better guitarist than me, so I was nominated to play the bass. 13 years later I'm still going!
5. oh gawd this is back up for sale? Someone snap it up.
6. She has a point. Why would you think you're 'higher' than a cleaner, anyway? If you had arrived at the venue the night before and couldnt play because the cleaner was mopping the dance floor you probably would have had something to say.
7. In all seriousness though, sounds like an ingenious fix! I'd be intrigued to hear how it holds up!
8. Telebass.... I followed your instructions and everything seemed great until I tried to play through my amp and now my amp won't power on at all let alone make sound! What has happened?!?!?!?!

A fun band of guys would be Guitar / Vocals - Steven Brodsky (Cave In) Guitar / Vocals - Devin Ocampo (Faraquet/Medications) Drums - Darren Zentek (Channels/Kerosene 454) or Joe Easley (Dismemberment Plan) or Jason McGerr (Death Cab For Cutie) Bass - me thankyou. Records would be produced by J. Robbins.
13. Just received an Aguilar GS 410 I bought from this great BC'er. Very patient throughout as I enquired/offered/withdrew/reoffered to finally getting to a point where I actually parted with some cash. Have no worries about dealing with Chris!
14. If you're good enough at whatever genre you play, and you play often enough for free, then there's money in all styles of music. However, as has been said, by playing originals you need to make your product have some value first, and that means you need to make sacrifices.
15. The fact is that in periods of my life when I have been touring constantly, I had no G.A.S. and was more than satisfied with my Fender through Ampeg combination. It worked at gigs and comments about the bands sound were always positive. The only time I ever feel I need better tone, new gear, etc. is when I am not playing regularly. Now I'm not getting at anyone because I do exactly this... but I think a big part is that pro players play whatever get the job done professionally, which fender and ampeg will. The playing / technique / rehearsing comes first and the hours spent dreaming of that fancy new bass comes second. Don't get me wrong, I know LOTS of these guys also have nice custom / boutique gear at home but the fact remains, they don't NEED it.
16.
I went back to a forum I used to frequent lately and they have brought in a rule since my absence. There was a bit of barney over it but I thought it was good. You can only post something for sale if you contribute (Financially ) to the site but it's not a scary amount. And only the contributors can read the for sale threads in the first 24hours or something from the thread being posted. Which I thought was quite good because it means the more serious members and supporters get first dibs on stuff and if you can afford the stuff for sale well then you can afford the fiver to become a contributor. And obviously you will be getting a service from the site and it's only fair you give a little back for the free ad.
Yeah that seems quite a good idea
17.
There does also seem to be an increase in the number of people joining the forum solely to sell stuff - you never see these people post in any topics & I think that's a bit naughty. If it was my forum I'd have booted them off.
I do sometimes think this but on the other hand it makes more 2nd hand gear available to regular users too. There is a Photography forum I'm a member of which I primarily used for buying and selling, who changed their conditions so that a buyer/seller had to have at least 200 posts on the forums. This meant a lot less was available to regular users, and even though I read the forum daily (without posting as I didnt feel I had much knowledge to contribute), I have now stopped visiting altogether.
18. NJW MB1. !!!! therose789? sighhh
19. Oh my bloody gosh! Stunning rig. Good luck with the sale, wish I could afford this lot.
20. I like that there is a band called AGHAST! Nico, from AVAST!
21. How is the E string sitting in the nut? Does it look the same as the other strings or is the groove too big/small?
22. The little red thing is a capacitor... without seeing it myself I would guess that the 503 represents (50*[10^3] picofarads) 0.05uF which is pretty close to the 0.047uF caps used in most passive tone control circuits. So yes, you will need those as this is what bleeds the high frequencies to ground to make your tone control work. You will get a replacement pot from www.allparts.uk.com
23. This price is hurting me! I want this but must buy a new cab first! Sigh...
24. Less tension indeed but it doesn't mean the neck will be 'wrecked'. Just a wee setup and it should be right as rain with the new strings on...
